Love the bike and enjoy the history of the bikes past models , yes I as well would love to own one as well but don't see them for sale locally hardly at all! Enjoyed hearing someone talk about the history of the bike and the famous rider !❤❤❤😊😊😊
The Good Day's ! ! ... My build then was a 77 Kawasaki KZ1000LTD, 1st year. Let's go with different Tires on her and wider in back, Large Oil Cooler, Lucas Oil , Rear Sprocket teeth & Chain Changed. Fuel 95+ Octane we blended for that. Plus Engine Top Off Polished & Ported. Hi Michael, I’ve had my trusty ZRX1200r from new, which I bought in 2006. They are a very underrated bike by many people, but when you’ve owned one as long as I have, they become part of your biking dream. They are a pure gem. You can keep all your traction control and other electronics this is pure riding.
I've got a bone stock 2003 in the traditional E.L. colors. Yoshimura slip on only and i love the bike. Bit heavy as im a smaller guy, but it's easy to ride, and the rider position is comfortable. Long rides are no problem. Love that 2016 Japanese model though.
Remember Michael, the biggest change was the tyres. At the time Kenny Roberts was out testing his racing bikes and kept coming back in saying the clutch is slipping at high revs and top-ish speed. So the pit crew changed the clutch plates and he came back in saying the same. After a few changes of plates then a full clutch he was still getting the problem. The pit crew had had enough and added cameras to the bike and cameras on a chase bike.....Soon the results were in. It wasn't the clutch it was the tyres they were spinning up, there wasn't a tyre out there that could take the power of his new bike. So of to the tyre manufactures and we got out first radial tyres, i could not believe the change to the bike when i put a pair on mine all those years ago. to think if they hadn't had done this what type of bikes would we still be riding. I remember reading this in MCN many years ago. Who actually created the first production radial motorcycle tyres is still up for debate.
I met Wes coolie in the 70s at the trans Atlantic challenge at olivers mount 😂 I was only 8 and I got a bit close asking for his autograph and he said “ back off little dude , laughed then proceeded to give me autograph and a hat . We were walking around pit watching them getting ready to race . I loved those days it smelt great
Really enjoy the videos! The research you do is spot on. The audio is a little hollow sounding on my end, I’d like your videos much better if you had a mic on your shirt maybe?

Another great video! About the mirrors: while they work well, they have considerable drag which may contribute to what you feel at speed. The left one on my 2002 would unscrew at about 135 MPH no matter how tight I had it. That was kind of rude to have it slap me upside the helmet when I was busy with staying on the road. Mirrors from an early Z1000 fit right on and are more aerodynamic. While the speedos are a bit optimistic, I did see 152 (maybe 143 in the real world) one day and there was a little more left. Kids, don't try this at home.
Hi, can you tell me where the belly pan can be bought from please, I had a Z1000R Lawson rep in the 80’s, toured all Europe on it BC (before children) wish I hadn’t of sold it now! I have however just bought a 2002 ZRX1200R. I now live in Australia, Albany WA.
that bike is a beatifull retro bike the only problem is that bike never existed in the past...in the early 80s was the z1000 and the z1300 nothing in between ...anyways its just a beauty probably the most beautiful retro bike but not autentic
I see there is a lot more discussion about Hydrogen cells now so hopefully a more balanced approach will prevail . Personally I can see us using ICE , electric and hydrogen power in the future . Time will tell .

Well done . I am sure many wish they had kept their 1200s . I managed to track a one owner , 2008 , bike down . I am very pleased with it !
How many kilometres/miles have you done? Have they been reliable?

Great review of a bike I’ve oft hankered after & a great look back at some golden years of racing! Thanks.
Great video, some superb detail and a pleasure to watch

Great bike collection! I’m looking to get one and appreciated the review and history. Thank you 🙏🏼
Very nice ZRX and excellent video! Thanks for posting!
Used to ride the GSX1100G. Now looking for a similar muscle style replacement. The ZRX1200 is looking pretty good..
Happy hunting !

I’m still riding my 2003 Kawasaki ZRX1200R . I bought her new and put 53,000 miles on her and she still roars down highway like a rocket.
Great video. My favorite bike!
Thanks Mike . I am quietly looking for one ..😂

According to the owner it is a powerbronze belly pan ? Hope this helps Howard . Have fun with your ZRX .
Superb video
Thank you Chris . Glad you enjoyed it.
It would be weird going from a light racing bike like a 500 gp bike to a big whale dolled up kz 1000 on the track.
He did it the other way round of course , but I know what you mean . He left Kawasaki to race the Yamaha with the Kenny Roberts run team 👍

That belly pan is hideous. Please take it off and throw it in the trash. lol
It is not my bike . ..

Pray the battery bikes don’t reach a critical mass, hope bikers are not as gullible as the general public.
