- Kat Eggleston hails from picturesque Vashon Island in Puget Sound, Washington. She is a prolific singer-songwriter whose music is informed by a great love and knowledge of traditional music. She is also an accomplished hammer dulcimer player. Kat often performs today with Utah based folk artist, songwriter, and fiddle player Kate MacLeod.
The "River City Folk" television program was produced in 1994-95 by Tom May, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and Branson, Missouri's Americana Cable Network.
It was shown throughout the U.S. on cable networks and on PBS TV in Nebraska.
The radio broadcast of "River City Folk" was the inspiration for the television broadcast , and continues today, now in its 28th year. Check local listings for times, or

Kat remain very active in the acoustic music world, having returned to her Washington State roots after spending years in the Chicago area.

I used to listen to river city folk years ago on the radio, when I first started playing guitar. Of course, that was before the dawning of you tube. The show was a tremendous inspiration to me, a beginning guitarist at the time. I'm so glad to be able to re-connect with this show again, thanks to the invention of you tube.
Back in the 80's I took a trip to WA and rode a ferryboat with the wife. Kat performed live on the ferryboat. Never heard of her till then. Was so impressed I bought a cassette there and then and still have the cassette to this day. Would have bought everything she was selling if there were more choices. Seems online videos do not accurately capture her tone or range. she's only only one of two in-person singers ever to give me goosebumps listening in person. The other was Lisa Lisa. Not large concerts. In person. Impressive to experience.

Kat Eggleston impresses me. Maybe the most original quality has-something-to-say singer songwriter I've heard. Paul Simon was better in many ways, but he had less to say.

Die am meistens solche Liedern kommten wirklich aus uraltische Heiligerinen, auf Gaeligh- so uralitsich, vielleicht Cancer Aeon vor jener Pisces... Fraeulein Eggleston war auch zuwiss eine Heiligerin, von Goettin Luah, oder Dhumavatiih. "Who let the first bomb fall?"- erkennen sie, Erster wuerde auch irgendwie am Letzte; voelliger Ende... was konnte geschehen, durch den Falscher Prophet, Amerikanischer Praesident. Volk Musiks Wiederbeleben, auf Englisch und Amerikanisch, konnte nicht zuviel Kraft und Erfolg haben- der Name "Amerika" ist immerzeits verflucht; auch, Englischer Sprache wir haben nur durch Vampirismus von Rasse English, oder Frisian; ist nicht unserer geschlechtlicher Sprache, am bestes Erkennen, Gaeligh Albannach ist, Deutsch und Irish sehr fast so gut. Erkennen sie, kein Rasse Amerikanisch existiert; immerzeits ist den schlimmgemachter Fanne, sogenannt, verflucht; Englisccher Sprache ist am schlimmste moeglich fuer uns, besonders heute... Amerikanisch bedeutet, "Nicht Rasse", das ist Rassentliche Apostaeten...
