    I picked this up today to replace an ancient Red Dragon weed burner that needed a new hose. It works very well and the push button ignition is a dream come true. Thanks for the detailed review.

    Great video. I did this last year and it made the driveway like new. Only suggest to have water close by just in case.

    How long does the canister of propane last and how many square feet can you treat with a single canister? What does it cost to rent a full canister? How much does that work out to treat a square foot of garden space?

      I have not used a full tank at one time. I can say, I think it last a long time for me. Thank you for visiting and have a great day.

    Interesting. If it kills the root system, I'd say it's effective.

    • @DIYwithWayne
      @DIYwithWayne  11 месяцев назад +2

      My understanding is, it may kill the roots but most of the time it won't. However, if you kill the foliage a time or two, most of the roots will die. In time I plan to show examples of this but I just got the propane torch, so it will take time. Thank you for visiting and have a great day.

    Does your bottle have the new style safety valve because it keeps the pressure to low for it to burn very good and waste of time

    • @DIYwithWayne
      @DIYwithWayne  8 месяцев назад +2

      The bottle does have the safety valve and it is working. Take a look at this new video showing examples of using the torch. ruclips.net/video/QjH18uNSA-o/видео.html At the end I show and explain about the safety valve. I show it reducing the propane flow and when not reducing the flow. Thank you for visiting and have a great day.

      My propane tank has the safety float/shutoff, and my torch works great

    • @therd6811
      @therd6811 6 месяцев назад +2

      You may be opening your valve too quickly. There is a built-in safety that will sense if too much propane is coming through the valve when it is first opened. I believe that it is sensing high flow from zero flow an instant earlier, and the safety shuts down due to the high flow. This is similar to what would be experienced in an RV if a hose broke off or split. The high immediate flow rate will shut the system down. Try opening it slower and it may work like you would expect.

    Hey Wayne! I liked the video and am now a new subscriber. Question: did you have issues with the wand icing up? Thanks!

    • @DIYwithWayne
      @DIYwithWayne  7 месяцев назад +2

      No, if you did, it could be because your propane tank is not sitting upright. The propane in the tank is a liquid at the bottom and propane gas is at the top. If the valve is low enough to allow propane liquid to come out, you will be burning the liquid not gas. This can cause it to ice up. Thank you for visiting and have a great day.

    How long would the propane tank last---Or how much area can you cover with one tank

    • @DIYwithWayne
      @DIYwithWayne  9 месяцев назад

      I have not used mine enough to say. Also, there are a lot of variables that will effect that. How many weeds, how big are they, how much do you burn them, how hot are you running the torch etc. The best answer I can give is it does seem to last a good bit but I have not used it on a full tank yet. Thank you for visiting and have a great day.

    It’s the safety valve on the bottle and not enough pressure to work properly now 😢😢😢😢

    I’m curious, shouldn’t you have a water hose lose by?
    Or is the fire not intense enough to be concerned?
    Other than that, great video!

      Normally, I would have the hose pipe close by, but we had some rain earlier today and the ground is very damp. Thank you for visiting and I am always happy to see your comments.

      Yes definitely have a water hose, turned on and ready to go. Nearly burned siding off my garage while burning tall grass which blew over to the garage. Fortunately had water and saved my siding...Hubby would not have been happy...lol

    Save yourself $10 bucks at Harbor Freight by purchasing the Greenwood model without the piezo igniter. Those things notoriously go bad after a while.

      That's odd, it could be a problem with your propane tank. Try turning the tank off, wait 1 minute then turn it on very slowly. Thank you for visiting and have a great day.

    Problem with weeds is that you need to kill the roots. Using this method will allow weeds to grow back again.

      True, but I have used a lot of different things including Roundup. There is good and bad to all of them. Thank you for visiting and have a great day.

      I'm a Master Gardener in California, and the torch works great for grasses, and for the small seedlings at the beginning of the season. You are correct that it won't help with entrenched dandelions, and dock. Easy to use, and works for some weeds and the seed heads of dandelions

    Doesn’t work long term on weeds and grass. Kills the top but that’s about it.

      My thoughts are if you kill all the foliage there will be very limited growth back because the leaves won't be able to absorb the sun's Ray it will be severely damaged. Also if the ground gets hot enough, the Roots will also melt. I wonder how this worked long-term for this use?

    • @DIYwithWayne
      @DIYwithWayne  7 месяцев назад

      Grow back will vary but in my case it did not kill the grass the first time. It does help to destroy the weed seeds. I am planning on a longer term video to show how it works over the long term.

      Does great for seedlings, dandelion seed heads, grasses
