You are one of my favorite new reactors. I love how your face shows the attention level you are affording the movies you react to. Your reactions to the Hangover movies with Addie (another of my favs) led me here. That was a brilliant way to jump-start your channel, imo. I wish you much success in this endeavor and firmly believe you will do awesome.
So glad that you're enjoying these movies, I especially like your point that you made in your summary about Gimli, in my opinion Gimli was the perfect comic relief, it was always just enough, not too much, not too silly or dry, and just at the right times, and with just the right feeling. ❤
About Saruman: in the books he believes he can outsmart Sauron (in fact that's why he never reveals that Frodo has the Ring to Sauron). In the movies he is more of a puppet. In both versions he is power-hungry and believes that humanity is beyond saving. He WAS wise and trustworthy. He had the same mission as the other wizards. Gandalf never loses hope and compassion for the living
Reaction vids like this are the closest thing to being able to watch these epics for the first time again. Super fun to see how you react to moments that are more or less burned into my brain after dozens of watches over the years :P
Treebeards character is based on Tolkiens friend CS Lewis who spoke very slow and hrooming and harru.phing sounds. The Professor in Lewis' Narnia series is based on Tolkien. In fact, Tolkien was known as The Professor. They were members of a writing group called the Inklings that met weekly at an Oxford pub, The Eagle and the Child, aka The Bird and the Baby. Still there. I'll be there in March and hope to have a pint.
Bird and Baby has been closed since Covid. Supposedly there are still plans to reopen at some point, but all you can do for now is peek in the windows.
Great reaction. I loved that you noticed that was Brego picking up Aragorn by the river, most people miss those sorts of details. Really enjoying your reactions.
24:25 - "Gimli has really grown on me..." One of my favorite things about watching reactions to this movie is watching people more-or-less fall in love with Gimli. He's as tough and brave as they come, and he'll gladly risk death (or worse) for his friends, but he also has a big heart and a quirky sense of humor... I'm enjoying watching with you! Best of luck in 2025 and beyond!
Back thousands of years ago, in the first age, Aragorns ancestors fought against Saurons master, named Morgoth. Morgoth was defeated. 2 brothers, who had man and elf ancestors, were given a choice to remain mortal, or become elfkind. The brother who chose to remain human was Elros. He and his people were granted longer than normal lives. This is where Aragorn comes from. The other brother is Elrond. This makes Elrond Aragorns distant uncle.
@WaywardVet they still defeated him, imprisoned him, and then cast him into the void. If they didn't defeat him, how would they have been able to cast him into the void?
@@ClarkRowland-yn9dk Yeah, but how voidy is the void? If there is any material, they lied about it being a true void, and he worked with a master smith
2:05 Yep, he's 87. And Arwen is about 3000 years old - talking about an age gap here... 3:05 That is a Warg. Wargs are basically intelligent wolves that serve Sauron. In times of war Orcs and Goblins use them as mounts - however if the campaign takes too long and food supplies don't work the numbers of orcs and goblins tend to mysteriously dwindle around wargs. Those trees near Helm's Deep where not there a day ago. These are the trees that moved out of Fangorn to deal with the Orcs. To really understand what happens with Gandalf you need to read the Silmarillion.
@@troy34bronze Brad Dourif is awesome and highly underrated. Played Piter de Vries in the 1984 Dune adaptation (and crushed it). Played Deputy Sheriff Clinton Pell in Mississippi Burning along side Gene Hackman! Voiced Chucky, was in Blue Velvet, played Amos Cochrane in Deadwood! The guy is like most of the cast, are acting demigods.
Aragorn is part of a race called the Dùnedain. They are descendants of the men from the island of Nùmenor. The men of Nùmenor were originally another race called the Edain who were granted long life and the island of Nùmenor as thanks for their loyalty and assisting the Valar in ending Melkor. Over time they had very long lives but as time went on they began to crave the immortality of the elves and their life span began to diminish. Over time the Kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor consisted of fairly substantial population of Nùmenoreans but as time went on and they intermingled with men in Middle Earth, their numbers further declined. Gondor suffered a terrible civil war (the Kinstrife) which saw a lot of Dùnedain killed. With the destruction of Arnor, the Dùnedain further declined to the point where they are extremely rare.
LOTR is nothing if not heart and respect for the spirit of the book. I will never forget reading the book in late 2001 and then finding out about Fellowship-and then the long wait of a year between each movie. Totally worth it!
@@JoeyCoppertone Fair enough. But compared to e.g. the star wars prequals which were releasing around this time, we had to wait like 2-3 years before each movie. The only think I remmeber which was quicker was the wait between Matrix 2 and 3, which was only like 6 months.
1:47 the numenorians come from the line of elros (elronds brother) he was the first king of numenor. He was given the choice of immortality or mortality (chose mortality and Elrond chose immortality) and because one of parents was an elf the numenorians lived longer than the average wlf and that's why aragorn also lives to be 210 years old
8:00 Elrond suggested his beloved daughter Arwen to stay immortal because his brother (Elros) chose to be mortal and created the king of Numenor (kingdom of Aragorn's ancestors).. So when he became mortal, so short time after (100-150 years after) he died because of mortality and after thousands of thousands years, Elrond still mourns for his beloved brothers.. Because of this, Elrond is so sensitive to being mortal.. He's suggesting his daughter the stay immortal and go to grey havens/Valinor/undying lands/ God's lands ... Valinor is like heaven.. 12 gods are at there and you cannot go with a ship at there if you're not allowed.. :))
Saruman harbored an intense jealousy toward Gandalf even though Gandalf never tried to usurp his position. Indeed, when the council of the wizards was first summoned, Galadriel wanted Gandalf to head it but he refused, thinking Saruman was better suited for the task. Also, Gandalf didn't want to be tied down to one specific location, preferring to lend his aid where and when he could. He also understands that it's often the smallest hands that effect the biggest changes, where as Saruman thinks that great power alone, hoarded by as few hands as possible, is the answer.
The orc mounts are wargs, a larger and more malevolent type of wolf, though they look more hyena like here Not quite dragons, they just look very dragon like The trees that take care of the retreating orcs are the ones that started moving from Isengard Merry’s back to his original size. The effects of the ent-draught wore off. But in the books, the effects are permanent, and Merry and Pippin became the largest hobbits in the history of the Shire by 2 or 3 inches Saruman wasn’t working for Sauron from the beginning, but he was apparently flawed from the beginning. He disliked certain decisions regarding him and Gandalf by the higher powers that sent them to Middle Earth as well as others, and he became jealous of Gandalf. He desired power, read up on Sauron and started imitating him, made secret grabs for power, and even working for Sauron he intends to betray and usurp him, ir at the very least rule at his side and eventually become the top dog
i love it when the elves show up at Helms Deep, the elves who don't speak are extras played by soldiers from the New Zealans military, Thank you for your service 😍 also, everyone needs a Sam! Thank you to all those who are like Frodo's Sam
I have some hobbit meals and warm drinks for this one, thanks for the upload. In 2002 when this was released we still had to wait for the extended edition, lol, but by The Two Towers casual Tolkien fans were sold on the movies, if they hadn't already been. Since they were filmed at the same time the continuity of the actors was a new experience as well.
The quality of the movies are a testament to the quality of the original story written by Professor Tolkien. Even though the movies don't EXACTLY follow the books, the story is still totally recognizable, and readers will pick up on the subtle, but necessary, changes to the story. Sir Peter Jackson, Phillipa Boyens and Peter's wife, who is camera shy, wrote the screenplay, with almost daily updates as filming continued, while they tried to mold the story to their movie making process. The final movie, "The Return Of The King", is a real roller coaster, even more than the first two, so be "emotionally" solid. And get your popcorn ready.
Funny story I seen from Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd (Merri and Pippin) was the stew was made for the staff because it was so cold on set and it tasted so bad they used in in the scene.
You're not wrong to be conflicted about Gollum/Smeagol. Many are! It's a testament to Tolkien's writing of course, but also Andy Serkis' acting. He did a phenomenal job of bringing that character alive.
29:19 Gandalf is one of the Maiar (demigods. Same as sauron) disguised as an old/wise with his abilities limited (then enhanced after he was sent back as the head of the istari (wizards) to aid the people of middle earth against sauron)
Great reaction! You really doing a good job in understanding the lore and the world of LotR for a first timer! You are my favorite newcomer on You Tube and you're also very cute!😊👍
I'm so glad that when they decided to take this incredible story that Tolkien wrote and make it into movies, I'm so glad that they put in the time, effort, and money to do it right. Sure there's some differences between the books and the movies but there are always some differences. When I first watched "The Fellowship of the Ring" back in 2001 in the theater, I had no Idea what I was getting myself into. The only thing that I knew about the story was a cartoon that came out back in 1978 and I didn't remember much of that because I was so young when I saw it. After watching the movie for the first time in 2001, I loved it so much that I went out and bought the book because I couldn't bring myself to wait a year before knowing what happens next lol.
This movie is the one that deviates the most from the source material. Faramir's reaction to the Ring was radically different, no Elves battled on Helm's Deep (they did receive reinforcements, but from people of other regions of Rohan), and the Ents decided to go to war after their gathering, just to name a few; and some of the events were postponed to film 3 due to narrative reasons. Still a great movie, can't wait for Return of the King.
To me this one is the weakest of the trilogy. Why is it that Gandalf is against moving to Helms Deep when in the books it was actually his idea? And it totally makes sense for it's a far better defending point! But what I really hate is the whole plot line with Faramir and Frodo.I understand why they added this, but I really don't like it!Also how they presenting Denethor in this one and the next is kind of disappointing I think.
Honestly the two towers is my favorite, but it is a bit vague & rushed in places. A lot of it makes sense for a cinematic adaptation, but some of it does seem shoehorned in. My main complaint that I never hear anyone mention, is that they established the Dunlendings as a people, had them side with Saruman to attack Rohan.... & then we never see them again & they are never even mentioned in passing. They exist mostly as a foil to the Druidain culture, who Rohan make peace with in the books but never show up in the movies. The "hill folk" don't defend Isengard, they don't attack Helm's Deep, so why establish a whole faction of people for one raid that they never even face consequences for? We dont even get a throwaway line from Theoden about the hill folk abandoning their raids, or Saurman complaining about their cowardice and false loyalty. I like the depth of cultures in tolkien's world, but this is one situation where I think it should have just been left out because it raises more questions than it cares to answer, & the subject immediately gets pushed aside anyway.
@@bitterzombie Pretty much that. Adaptation always mean some parts will be lost, so I'm not that salty with some omissions, like the whole chapters omitted between when they left the Shire and before they reach Bree (the Old Forest, Tom Bombadil, the Barrow-downs), and in the case of Rohan, the omission of the Drúadan. But that doesn't mean I liked the choices made by PJ on some cases, and The Two Towers is the one movie I still have some gripes with, 20+ years later still.
The trees didn't just come alive at Helm's Deep. There WERE NO TREES when the orcs, Gandalf, and the Rohirrim arrived. A whole entire forest just SHOWED UP OUT OF NOWHERE right AFTER Gandalf and the Rohirrim arrived on the 5th day to destroy the retreating orcs. They're not ents, but rather Treebeard and the ents have the power to animate the forest around them, and let the trees go take revenge for themselves. These trees are huorns - beings somewhere between ents and normal trees. They're normally very slow and mostly asleep, and not quite sentient, but the ents have the ability to fully awaken and mobilize them. A huorn is what the tree was that tried to swallow the hobbit with its roots, before Treebeard saved them.
There is something that I don't know if it is clear enough in the movies but it is in the books, and that is the power of the palantir (the black ball seen in the first movie), Saruman had one, the steward of Gondor another and Sauron yet another. It is not clear if through these you can see the future, you see what you want, or you see what someone else wants you to see, the truth is that it may be a reason why Saruman was corrupted.
It looks like you miss Treebeard in that nice garden behind you shoulders, dear Camilla. You certainly deserve at least a little version of this most ancient Ant for your such an emotional and truly immersive reaction to the events and characters of LOTR saga. Your facial expressions and eyes during the reaction truly show the strength of your feelings and the degree of your involvement into the movie which most reactors lack. Carry on in the same vein and good luck with your future reactions which I'm looking forward to watch.
When Tolkien was a boy, he went to see a production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth ( brief synopsis: three witches open the play by predicting that Macbeth will become king, which he does by murdering King Duncan, and that he’ll be safe until Birnam Wood comes to Dunsinane Hill, where the king’s castle is). In the play, soldiers tie branches to their armor and attack the castle, that’s fulfilling the prophecy. But JRRT was so disappointed that the trees didn’t really move, he made it happen in his story, lol. I don’t know if it is actually spelled out anywhere, but I get the feeling that there are three kinds of trees in Middle-earth. True root bound trees like we have here, then there are the Hurons, which can move, but are not strictly sentient. And thirdly, there are the Ents, tree herders, Sheherds of the forest. So, when Treebeard marches on Isengard, the Hurons march to Helms Deep and arrive in time to kill the orcs that morning as Gandalf appears. Pretty neat, huh?! 😊
He was also pissed at the cop-out in the whole "no man of woman born" situation, but that's spoilers for the next movie. Also its Huorns. Hurons are native american tribe.
@ I think the “no man of woman born” is pretty lame, too. 🙄 Thanks for setting me straight on the spelling, I posted w/out looking it up & gave it my best guess, lol. I’ll remember in the future! 😄
41:15 the closer the ring gets to mordor the more powerful it gets (more control over Frodo) and since osgiliath (where Faramir let frodo go) is right next to Mordor on the map so it makes sense the rings hold on Frodo gets stronger
One thing that the movies did better than the books, imo, is portraying Gollum as a somewhat likeable character. You don’t really grow sympathy for him through Tolkien’s writing, but Peter Jackson and Andy Serkis really brought forth the duality in him, and the pittiness he evokes.
This is a completely underrated comment, and absolutely true. Even going back to The Hobbit, and the chapter, "Riddles In The Dark" (I think it's called), Gollum comes across different than he does in the first Hobbit movie. After reading your comment, I don't recall feeling much for him while reading either book(s). He always just seemed sneaky and like he was plotting, with just a glance here and there of his old life.
In all honesty, I've always felt the opposite. Perhaps it is because I enjoyed the portrayal of Smeagol by Peter Woodthorpe in the old BBC radio series so much and (imo) set such a high bar, but how he was handled in the movies very much disappointed me. I didn't ever the feeling of the deep seated conflict within him, the reaching out for the light that Frodo engendered versus the wickedness ingrained in habit and reinforced by perceived betrayal.
@ Ooooh! That’s something I would need to give a listen to :o I know there are older adaptations of the LotR, such as the animated film, but I havent got to watch them yet. Maybe I’ll change my mind about Gollum’s depiction :)
The extended scene with Faramir and Boromir is one of my favourites in this film and brings needed depth to these characters. Faramir would have been better fit for Fellowship and Boromir to stay on guard as he wanted. Boromir's sense of duty to his father and love for Gondor were his weakness when dealing with the ring, not hardly a character flaw after all.
So now you've watched enough to get a little bit of the lore Tolkien developed. He wrote a creation account of Middle Earth and thousands of years of history leading up to this tale. So know that I'm leaving out a whole lot, but at least giving you an idea of the world of Middle Earth. Very similar to Christianity, all things were created by a God-like being, Eru Iluvatar. He created angelic beings called Ainur who sang. He created the earth and seven of the Ainur wanted to go to the earth to govern it. These are known as the Valar. They have lesser Ainur who serve them called Maiar. One of the Valar, named Melchor (Also known as Morgoth), turned evil and set out to spread his evil through Middle Earth. His chief lieutenant is a Maia known as Sauron. He also turned some of the Maiar into the Balrogs. Yes, there's more than one. At the end of the first age, Melchor was defeated by the Valar and his spirit held captive int he void. Several Maiar were sent into Middle Earth in the third age by the Valar to overthrow Sauron. These are the wizards. Gandalf and Saruman are two of these. The elves and men are the children of Iluvatar. The dwarves were created by one of the Valar in honor of Iluvatar's desire to create such beings as elves and men. Elves are immortal and their spirits go west to the land of Valinor where the Valar are. it isn't known where men go, but it is believed their spirits go to be with Iluvatar. No one knows where the Hobbits come from, but they are understood to be men after a fashion. Lord Elrond and his brother Elros are from a group of people who are half-elf, half-man. They were given a choice whether to live out their lives as elves or men. Elrond chose to be an elf. Elros chose to be a man. The descendants of Elros are the Dunadain who have long life because of their elfin ancestry. Yet, even so, Aragorn, in his 80s, is the youngest between him, Gimli (139), and Legolas (birth date not known, but was probably a few thousand years old). Aragorn was also seeing his cousin (many, many generations removed) Arwen who was nearly 2800 years old - young for an elf. Her mother, Celebrian, was Celeborn and Galadriel's daughter. So she was Galadrie's granddaughter and Elrond was Galdriel's son-in-law. Celebrian was waylaid by orcs, and while she survived the attack, she felt the need to return to sail West to Valinor. So she wasn't around for the events of the Hobbit and LOTR. If you like to read, I recommend Tolkien's books to you, including the Silmarillion that contains much of the lore and specific accounts of many of the people of those times.
Aragorn & arwen are relatives. Arwen is daughter of Elrond. But he has brothers Elros, who decide to become mortal. Aragorn is Elros's descendant. Edit, that's why aragorn gifted with long life. He has elf blood..
Happy new year, Camilla... Thanks for this reaction... It was perfect, like always... This journey is even better with you in it... Congratulations for your channel and salutes from Brazil...
Camilla, I am thoroughly enjoying all of your reactions, especially for the The Lord of the Rings (the best movie trilogy of all time). But I am especially thankful to you for one particular reaction scene: when Brego comes back for Aragon and brings him to Helm's Deep. I have never seen another reactor include that and be so moved by it (in a non-Patreon edit) as you were, and I really appreciate that. Can't wait for Return of the King! Have plenty of tissues.... 😊
And don't forget this works best in the Extended Cut as seen here because in the Theatrical Cut we don't know it is Brego, as the scene where Aragorn calms Brego is cut.
@@ClarkRowland-yn9dk Definitely not. That was a CGI double. They had something planned for that, but Bloom had a broken rib, so he just jumped and stuck his hand out. Didn't get on the horse at all. If you watch the BTS you can see the live shot. It's pretty awkward.
@ThaBeatConductor the CGI double still wasn't supposed to do what is in the final cut. It was meant to get on the horse in a more traditional, realistic manner.
Ms. Camilla, you should record yourself reacting to the end credits of this movie. They feature "Gollum's Song," which you mentioned performing in a previous video. 🙂
Comment to help algorithm; The Nazgul (the 9 RingWraiths) did not ride dragons (dragons breath fire) they rode Fellbeasts which are close to the mythical Wyvern.
The movies are a little hazy regarding the time of all the events. The total time from when Frodo receives the One Ring to the total time of the adventure in the movies is closer to 20 years. I don't want to get too detailed in hopes to avoid spoilers. The movies just can't spend the extra time explaining that and keep most audiences interested, I mean.... the extended editions of these movies, and the extended editions of The Hobbit movies are already pretty long. I'm not complaining, and I'd watch, but that's just me. That may help explain why the ring is finally starting to wear down Frodo, and you are seeing that advance from the last movie to this one. It continues in the next movie.
1:50 yes and no... Yes Aragorn is a human.. Numenor Kingdom humans lives much more than regular humans because The First King and founder of Numenor was one of the Elves.. The Elf turned to human (he has the right of choice and he chose to be mortal) And After he chose to be mortal, he created the Kingdom of Numenor... And his kin became little bit long live humans.. Pure Numenorians could live approximately 250-350 years.. Oh Most important part is The First Numenorian Elf who chose to be a mortal human was Elrond's brother Elros... So Elros is Aragorn's grand grand x20 grand father... And Elrond is Aragorn's grand grand grand x20 Uncle... :D
Because geographically Helms Deep is west of Edoras - towards Isengard, the people of Rohan were subject to greater danger during this trip. Being further from Mordor is normally a good thing.
By the way about the 29:39 Ents are not Trees.. Yes they kind of look like them but.. Think like that.. We have 2 arms and 2 legs right? So Kangroos have too.. But we are not Kangroos... Ents are different and unique creatures and souls.. But they cared for so long times with Trees and forests.. After along those long times They're getting looking like trees .. But That info has certain points.. Ents are not Trees or forests or plant creatures.. They are just souls who wears wood body.. Humans, Elves, Dworfs are just souls who wears flesh bodies.. :))
12:23 No .. Smeagol doesn't tell anybody that Frodo has the ring.. Even orcs or Sauron's forces.. Because Smeagol is smart.. Smarter than most of the people.. He know if he tells about it to anyone, he couldn't reach the ring easily.. If Smeagol's eyes, I think the hobbits are so easy to take the ring from them.. He cannot risk the Ring falling into the hands of someone more powerful than hobbits, especially Sauron or humans or elves etc.. Dont forget.. Smeagol trys to take the ring..
You should really watch The Hobbit after these if you haven't already as a lot of those questions are answered in those movies, and yes Saramon was good but you will find out why he may have turned in the Hobbit and how Sauron got to him even before the Polenta (the orb that he is on contact with him).
The punishment of a father is the the daughter. What can't a father do for the love of their daughters. I feel his pain when the daughter makes a choice 😢😢❤❤ to all men who have daughters be proud
@alextrill1746 it's just unthinkable. I got daughters and it's horrifying to me just to think one of them may bring a man I think how will he be. I just can't try to imagine
You do not need to apologize for splitting the review in 2. The movies were distributed in 2 DVDs, so the splitting is normal for me. 1:38 The men who fought against Morgoth, the former boss of Sauron, were rewarded with a land of their own, Númenor, and a longer life (up to 400 years in the general population, up to 500 year in the royal family). The island of Númenor was destroyed, the survivors founded the kingdoms of Arnor in the North and Gondor in the South. As they reproduce with other humans, their long lives are diminishing. 3:01 The are wargs, an evil king of wolves. Remember when Saruman said to an orc to send his warg-riders? Well, here they are. 8:18 I am guessing Elrond looked mad because his daughter cannot find happiness in this world. She either stay and have happiness for but a short time, or go to Valinor with her love. 8:20 Elrond will go to Valinor, but he must first put his papers in order. 8:21 No need to apologize, I love answering questions. 9:47 Yes, actual brothers. 14:52 How did you know the elves are coming? It was not in the book! 15:34 Yes, the Ents could help Rohan. In fact, they were more eager to help in the book... or course it took them 3 days to decide to. 19:47 Or course they have ladders. That is basic siege tools. 19:52 The ladders came from Isengard, like the orcs. 24:37 That is a grappling hook. By the way, I love how you said the "oh"! 🥰 25:24 The keep, the main building of a fortress, is a safe place to be inside. 26:38, I do not know if it was a battle cry, but the Ents will help. 27:36 Not a dragon, a fell beast. You can see a dragon in the prequels, the Hobbit Extended Edition movies. 29:01 Right, it was Eomer, nephew of Theoden king. 32:33 Éowyn is in love with the idea of Aragorn, not Aragorn himself. In the book, Aragorn had already claimed to the rightful king of Gondor, which made him very attractive to her, a chance to be a queen worthy of glory. Aragorn respects Éowyn and wants happiness for her, but he does not love her. 34:43 She, is Shelob. 36:06 We all want more! The fans of the moves hope for a Super Extended Edition for the 25 anniversary of the movies, in 2026. There is no official information about this. The ring was already able to corrupt everybody. As the ring approach the place of its making, it is becoming stronger. At the Crack of Doom it will be at its strongest. 43:10 Yes, there is still hope of salvation for Saruman. It is one of the reason for Gandalf to talk with him. 43:26 Saruman, Gandalf, Radagast and 2 others were sent to Middle-Earth by the Valar (think of the Greek gods) to help the people against Sauron. So yes, the 5 wizards were initially good. Even Sauron was good at the beginning. Can't say there is any humanity in Sauron and Saruman., they are Maiar (think of Christian angels).
Pickles all over the place, lol. I'm enjoying your reactions. While these movies stay true to the spirit of the books, they of course changed things, leaving a lot out and even swapping lines to other characters in a number of cases. There are many characters in the books that don't appear in the movies to keep things simpler. The LOTR trilogy is still one of the best adaptations to film that I think will ever be done. The Hobbit trilogy is far less like the singular book it's based on because they wanted to pad it out with changes and additions. Finally, the Amazon TV series is widely considered an insult to Tolkien's work, being almost entirely made up instead of based on anything he wrote.
The good news is you are about to watch one of the greatest movies ever made The bad news is your stress levels are gonna get way worse before they get bettter
There's a funny skit on RUclips called "Lord of the Potter," where Gandalf accidentally goes into The Three Broomsticks pub, thinking it's The Prancing Pony, and is confused the whole time because everything is so similar. It's five minutes well spent.
Aragorn it´s a Dúnedain, a sort of "royal" race among the men, blessed with long life as descents of Númenor (they have part of elves in their blood). That´s why he has 87 years old here, and looks young.

"You are a daughter of kings, a shieldmaiden of Rohan. Hire a cook!"
"The people of the United States learned long ago, those without guns can still die because of them."
“Damnit, Aragorn, I’m a shield maiden, not a chef!”
Her uncle was not utilizing her shieldmaiden talents, so she demonstrated her cooking skills to regain her position as a warrior.
There’s a line in the book that Arwen watches over Aragorn in her thoughts. She really did come to him while he was in the river.
The combination eye roll/head toss you did when Treebeard announced M & P were not orcs was perfect, sums up what we all felt. Great reaction.
Goosebumps in all my body during the "Ent´s march". EPIC.
The look on her face when Aragorn does the door open made me laugh of loud! 😂
Yes! Cassie (Popcorn in Bed) pretty much swooned at that same scene it's so hilarious to see! 😅
@@damon6126 Haven’t seen that one yet! I’ll have to check it out 😂
Back thousands of years ago, in the first age, Aragorns ancestors fought against Saurons master, named Morgoth.
He wasn't defeated, he was cast into the void. I worry about this because if you can open a hole from one side...
@@WaywardVet for that, you'll have to ask a Tolkien scholar.
Morgoth does come back from the void for Dagor Dagorath, the final battle.
Arwen is such a cradle-snatcher....
Brad Dourif (Wormtongue) was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in his very first credited role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Great closing comments, it's satisfying to see your engagement in the story.
14:27 Your reaction is priceless! It even included licking your lips LOL

LOTR is nothing if not heart and respect for the spirit of the book. I will never forget reading the book in late 2001 and then finding out about Fellowship-and then the long wait of a year between each movie. Totally worth it!
Common. Compared to other franchises this was fresh, a realtively short wait.
@ I was just trying to illustrate the excitement and anticipation between each movie I felt as a kid. 👍
He was given the choice of immortality or mortality (chose mortality and Elrond chose immortality) and because one of parents was an elf the numenorians lived longer than the average wlf and that's why aragorn also lives to be 210 years old
Love your reaction! It's such an epic trilogy. Very rewatchable too. Be glad you don't have to wait a year to see the excellent finale 😁
Brego, Shadowfax, and Bill are among my favorite characters in the films 🐴🐎
Shadowfax Brego and Bill. great name for a firm of turf accountants!
The orc mounts are wargs, a larger and more malevolent type of wolf, though they look more hyena like here
Not quite dragons, they just look very dragon like
The trees that take care of the retreating orcs are the ones that started moving from Isengard
Merry’s back to his original size. The effects of the ent-draught wore off. But in the books, the effects are permanent, and Merry and Pippin became the largest hobbits in the history of the Shire by 2 or 3 inches
Saruman wasn’t working for Sauron from the beginning, but he was apparently flawed from the beginning. He disliked certain decisions regarding him and Gandalf by the higher powers that sent them to Middle Earth as well as others, and he became jealous of Gandalf. He desired power, read up on Sauron and started imitating him, made secret grabs for power, and even working for Sauron he intends to betray and usurp him, ir at the very least rule at his side and eventually become the top dog
i love it when the elves show up at Helms Deep, the elves who don't speak are extras played by soldiers from the New Zealans military, Thank you for your service 😍
also, everyone needs a Sam!
29:00 yes, the nephew. Even tho he was banished, he still did his duty knowing it was the right thing to do.
I don’t know what’s in that stew, but I love Aragorn’s “Oh, god, I:have to swallow it” reaction.
Fun fact: I broke my toe when Viggo Mortensen kicked that orc helmet
LOL!!
You too, oh my God it could be an epidemic!
@@-Heavy- Same. I understand that PJ needed some source of conflict for this movie, but I don't like his choices.
"Maybe the elves will show up, maybe the ents will help, maybe Gandalf will work some magic...". Yup!
22:24 it took Orlando over six takes to shoot the shield-surfing scene; he kept getting vertigo and ended the shot.
"What is this tactic?" None of it is tactically sound, but it is sound in... fun!
18:07 the elves do that as Legolas approaches because Legolas is elven Royalty
It looks like you miss Treebeard in that nice garden behind you shoulders, dear Camilla. You certainly deserve at least a little version of this most ancient Ant for your such an emotional and truly immersive reaction to the events and characters of LOTR saga. Your facial expressions and eyes during the reaction truly show the strength of your feelings and the degree of your involvement into the movie which most reactors lack. Carry on in the same vein and good luck with your future reactions which I'm looking forward to watch.
I'll say it all day, everyday: nothing is deadlier than a hobbit with a rock in hand.
You are one of the few who knew that was the same horse he said to set free!
@ Ooooh! That’s something I would need to give a listen to :o
I know there are older adaptations of the LotR, such as the animated film, but I havent got to watch them yet.
"We're in a lot of different pickles."😂
Aragorn & arwen are relatives.
Arwen is daughter of Elrond. But he has brothers Elros, who decide to become mortal. Aragorn is Elros's descendant.
Edit, that's why aragorn gifted with long life. He has elf blood..

Camilla, I am thoroughly enjoying all of your reactions, especially for the The Lord of the Rings (the best movie trilogy of all time). But I am especially thankful to you for one particular reaction scene: when Brego comes back for Aragon and brings him to Helm's Deep. Comment to help algorithm; The Nazgul (the 9 RingWraiths) did not ride dragons (dragons breath fire) they rode Fellbeasts which are close to the mythical Wyvern.
Also the hobbit explains bilbo's history and how he got the ring
I am still here with you that means I like your reaction. From Nairobi
FYI, Treebeard was voiced by John Rhys Davies, who also plays Gimli.
The Two Towers journey continues.
Gollum is the most important character !!
Because geographically Helms Deep is west of Edoras - towards Isengard, the people of Rohan were subject to greater danger during this trip. Being further from Mordor is normally a good thing.
Actually his plan was for Treebeard to see what the Sarumen did to the trees to force him into war by seeing the devastation of his friends.
I’m enjoying this reaction, too.
Oh .... you will fall in love with "her" 😁 She's amazing 😁
I can't wait for RotK!
14:30 I'd say Eowyn isn't the only one with a crush on Aragorn ❤😛🤤😝
😂😂😂I’ve had a crush on Aragorn for 52 years.
The closer Frodo gets to Sauron the more the ring exerts its influence.
Very nice reaction!
Oh you are gonna love "HER" in the next movie
That you or the kit-kit purring at the end? (35:44) 😉
You should really watch The Hobbit after these if you haven't already as a lot of those questions are answered in those movies, and yes Saramon was good but you will find out why he may have turned in the Hobbit and how Sauron got to him even before the Polenta (the orb that he is on contact with him).
I need the return of the king now!!!
Thank you for doing these movies!
The punishment of a father is the the daughter. What can't a father do for the love of their daughters. I feel his pain when the daughter makes a choice 😢😢❤❤ to all men who have daughters be proud
Lol, I imagined Elrond drinking with Silco in the afterlife. "Daughters, man, eh?"
25:24 The keep, the main building of a fortress, is a safe place to be inside.
Hey know it all
Pickles all over the place, lol.
The good news is you are about to watch one of the greatest movies ever made
The bad news is your stress levels are gonna get way worse before they get bettter
As much as you like this movie, the 3rd final movie won awards.
There's a funny skit on RUclips called "Lord of the Potter," where Gandalf accidentally goes into The Three Broomsticks pub, thinking it's The Prancing Pony, and is confused the whole time because everything is so similar. It's five minutes well spent.
Pack some tissues for the next chapter.
Imagine if noone was in a pickle. What kind of story would that be?
When you watch the Hobbit movies you'll see how Sauramon used to be
21:43 ALLAHU ORCBAR!!!
Aragorn it´s a Dúnedain, a sort of "royal" race among the men, blessed with long life as descents of Númenor (they have part of elves in their blood). That´s why he has 87 years old here, and looks young.
