I’d read about the paint pot ring before but it’s the first time I’ve actually seen one. Apparently they used to put the guard on a paint pot when they sprayed it with clear nitro.

    Educational.
Next time I dismantle or modify my Squier, I'll be extra careful 😊

I would've liked to seen the resistance on the pickups .And the underside of the bridge pickup . Even though there's A lot bits replaced , I bet it will bring a good price for a snookerd Tele .😎🎸

To be fair to Luke (and GH), I don't mind how it is referred to, player's grade or other. If I wanted to make this kind of investment, I'd go and look at the guitar myself. GH offers very good opportunities to do this via their pre-auction preview days. That aside, I find these videos from Luke extremely helpful in deciding whether to spend time on a visit to Wiltshire. Thanks to all concerned. 🙏

7:41 decal seems to be sitting on top of the filled string tree holes?

Someone’s had their paint brush out. Forgot to mention in the video! 👍😊

Aha! I wondered if that might be the case, a bit of "touch-up" paint :)@@GHguitarauctions

Cool vid of a cool guitar. I wouldn't call this 'players grade' due to he routed and repaired body + removed finish. There is little originality left.

They wasn't vintage back in the day though 🤷‍♂️
Who new they would be so valuable.

Not sure why people care so much about original parts, it's a 70 year old guitar, of course some parts aren gonna be broken.
These are instruments, tools for creativity.
Not antiques for rich men who can't play a lick on them. Go collect stamps or something else, don't deprive musicians of great instruments for your p@thetic hobby.

Too right, stamps, coins, paintings, books , maps, prints Victorian seaside postcards and they want the Rock n roll tools too, greedy pigs!

I'm not too far off the age of this Telecaster - and likewise some of my parts are broken, missing, or non original replacements. Not sure if my mrs evaluates me as 'players' grade or downgrades me to 'spares or repairs'' ? Or what reserve price she'd put on me at auction ??? I will admit that for all the wear and tear, I don't look as good, or can be valued for insurance purposes, as this rugged old Tele..

Given that it's a musical instrument, it's a pity there's no way to find out what it sounds like or plays like. Ah well, maybe one day scientists will come up with some way of doing that.
