    You know what's messed up about her situation? The fact that there really ain't shyt she can do to save herself. If she faces the camera, she watches the lady walk toward her, but can't look back to see it happen. But, if she looks away from the camera, she can't see the lady at all, so she doesn't know where she is in the room. That's a real catch 22 if I gotta be honest.

    (You're going to be getting an avalanche of jacksepticeye commentary like this one) but while I did first see this over on his channel, I wanted to make sure I came over here to tell you how much I loved your work -- specifically the use of color. The warm tones in the beginning were such a great contrast to that frigid, unnatural, washed-out look of the footage, and it's so cool to see those original warm tones washed out by that cold palette as her fear grows. Also, I'm sure you were already FULLY aware of horror movie tropes and that's probably why you wrote the heroine this way lol, but those quiet, intelligent decisions she makes as she decides to fight for her life instead of screaming and panicking is EVERYTHING I'VE EVER WANTED IN A HORROR MOVIE.
    This is incredible work. Thanks for your vision.

      @dylanclark  3 года назад +17

    @vincegeneau851 Год назад +15

    What's great about short films is that you don't have the pressure of having to explain the origins of your villain/entity/premise throughout a longer run time. Letting you really play with the audience and go as far as you need to. Short form horror is phenomenal. So far I've only seen two of your works, being this and "Portrait of God" but you can definitely consider me a fan!

      It always bugs me when short horrors have tons of comments saying "this should be a full movie!!", no that would ruin it. Some horror is better left short and sweet with some ambiguity

    • @vincegeneau851
      @vincegeneau851 Год назад

      100% agree. What makes a short film great is quite different from what makes a full length feature work. It's not about one being better then the other, it's just both are so different and should be left in the format they were created in.

    The growing dread, the suspense, the tension and the atmosphere was perfect. It kept me guessing because certainly we could not see the entity without the camera. And the fear of the unexpected is a nightmare and making it come alive in only a matter of few mins on the screen is commendable. I just feel that the climax could have been better, you could have done something unpredictable and there were few low points here and there.
    But overall it was pretty good work and indeed better than your previous work. Keep going.

A lot of them have great production value, monster designs, and cool concepts, but they never rise up from a final jump scare to anything memorable. This is phenomenal. I think your best film yet. It's an incredibly original concept which was well executed. No jump scares, just a bloody good story. I think it's your best because of the use of real home footage - it elevates an already original concept to another level. Watching the home footage you get a real connection with the character, you feel like this is real. There's nothing like being suspended in the belief that this is actually happening and the inclusion of real home footage puts you right in that place of verisimilitude. Fantastic work.

      Thanks so much! We loved the rewind idea and I’m glad so many people have enjoyed that. Thanks for stopping by after Jack’s reaction!

    The moment I saw the rewind it was game over, at least she tried to leave when things started to get bad.

    MAN....that was great! CHILLS...from start to finish. The one thing about awesome shorts like this are the 100 questions you have after...wanting to know more. She did the right thing by bolting, then rewind was pushed! Creepy and brilliant. Bravo.

    I loved everything about this! It's being added to the line-up of the short films I link to for my "31 Nights of Halloween" posts at Terror Titans! (I really loved the way you addressed a very common question that pops into my head while watching films like this... I'll refrain from praising so I avoid spoiling).

      Thank you so much! I think I know what you’re referring to and it’s something I desperately wanted to tackle because some of my old films unfortunately neglected it. Glad you liked it!

    I just binged all your short films and I like how your characters are intelligent. But even then, the inevitability pull them back. Thats way scarier than a dumb protagonist helping the monster along

    Let me tell you how good this is. My telly was on mute and I watched it thinking it was a silent film and still got creeped. Once I realized it had sound, I went back and watched it again and was even more creeped out. Loved it, thanks.

      Hahaha, thank you! Someone actually asked for subtitles so I just added them and I guess it could work silent now. So glad you enjoyed it :)
