Get the sofa off the rear wall... You can thank me later :)

      Hello
I already answered earlier in another comment 😉
I am aware that it is not the ideal arrangement for the rear speakers.
But I have to make concessions regarding the setup.
My high end setup (electrocompaniet, Audiophysic Virgo Mkll) has an absolutely perfect soundstage.
These speakers need a lot of space, they are also placed quite far from the front wall, and therefore towards the front of the room.
And believe me, according to the designer, the best arrangement would be that you as a listener should also sit against the back wall.
Unfortunately, the sofa cannot move forward because then I would not be able to enjoy the great soundstage of my Audiophysic speaker😏
As for the experience in my home theater, the sound sounds more than okay, but unfortunately not optimal in terms of playback with Atmos, Auro3D, etc.
But I can live with it very well.
In any case, listeners who come to see films are enthusiastic, and so am I
In my previous home I indeed had a much better setup.
Then the front and rear were the same distance from the MLP, and that was about 3 meters from the front and also 3 meters from the rears.
      Thank you for your comment😄

Cool setup. I love the position of your stereo speakers. Boundary interference of nearby walls actually stifles the two channels soundstage.
I bet you're two channel stereo sounds great. However, when it comes the multi-channel listening and if this was my setup... moving the couch off the back wall by at least a foot will allow you to aim the surrounds at the MLP. Plus by having the audio move around you will not only give you a more enveloping experience, but actually by having the couch positioned away from the rear wall also helps with the low-end, too. Corners are most prevalent. However, low frequencies (bass) also tend to stack up near the rear walls. Even the best room EQ or going multiple subs can't fix what's unfixable! Even though I'm listening in a small living room, the main priority was to have the couch positioned away from the rear wall for this very reason. If interested you might be able to make it out viewing this short video..

      Hi thanks for your response.
I am aware of the limits of my front speakers close to the wall.
But I wanted a setup that can be used for both high-end and hometheater.
More important to me is the high-end setup for the audio physics Virgo speakers.
Both setups are completely separated from each other, both in terms of equipment and power supply.
It was therefore more important for me to have the audiophysic Virgo free from the side and front walls, in other words enough space to do full justice to the soundstage of the audiophysic Virgo.
Before the renovation, both speakers were next to each other and that took up a bit too much space.
I had to make a compromise for the couch, moving further forward is not an option because I would have problems with my audio physics and the listening position.
Things just don't work any differently now.
At my previous home I actually had better space for my hometheater.
I appreciate your opinion on how things can be improved and I am also aware of how things can be improved.
I have been involved with high-end and hometheater since the 1980s.
Back then mainly with Yamaha and their sound DSP decoders 😃
In general, I am satisfied with the sound of my hometheater, but I would like to do an extensive measurement afterwards to get the most out of this setup.
      Regards John

@@engelsje1 the unit I'm running is a high-performance AVR. As well as state of the art Dirac Live room correction (@no extra charge), the ARCAM AVR20 also has an audiophile grade dac, a huge toroidal transformer, non-of-the-shelf (specially sourced) resistors & capacitors, plus a toroid amplifier. Which is boosted with a couple of matching 4-ch power amps (Atmos/front stage). The arcam avr20 has a very realistic analogue sound (non-digital sounding), plus the unit is so well balanced while watching a movie, and the movie sound dynamics happen to change. No more having to reach for the remote control. In fact, listening to movies, I can't record EVER having to reach for the remote control! And to think cos it's successor, the AVR 21 has now been released for quite a while. One can now purchase this avr20 nearly half price (£2,000)
It's the best sounding AVR I've heard to date. And Btw I auditioned three of the bastards before I settled on this one.

      Hi,
      Thanks for your message.
They are 2 complete separate systems from each other.
      1.for high and audio
      2.for home theater.
The front speakers that have a lot of space are the audio physic virgo2
These require quite a bit of space and the ideal listening position as a listener is to sit against a wall.
all to experience the stunning soundstage these speakers are capable of.
This is according to the designer, and by trying all kinds of listening positions, this has also been found to be the best by me and other listeners.
The different review also states that listeners prefer a spacious, free arrangement of the speakers, and that the listener should sit against the wall.
As for the Atmos speakers, they are installed as a preferred setting for Auro3D and are at an angle of 30 degrees.
It may seem very different on the video, but believe me the sound is very satisfying.
I also know that the arrangement of the surround and hight speakers is not ideal.
Actually, as a listener you should sit at least 1 meter forward.
But I have to compromise on this.
And that is the choice I made.
I can imagine that in a completely customized home theater room this will certainly sound different.
But that's what I have to live with.
After all, my main hobby is my High-end system and that should be optimal settings.
      Greeting

    • @engelsje1
      @engelsje1  3 месяца назад

You could have benefit from using Dolby Atmos up-firing speakers at an soundbar setup.
In a dedicated speaker setup I wouldn’t recommend using up-firing speakers for atmos, because for a dedicated setup you need to use ceiling or height speakers in a atmos setup .
It’s an immersive experience for movies 😃
But of your are limited with your soundbar setup i would definitely use them, to enhance your atmos sound
      Good luck with that 👌🏻
