Synthetic reeds are already the norm for many of us, as a doubler (alto and sopranino saxes, flute and bass flute, WX-7) I couldn’t keep my reeds wet when I was playing four different saxes and several flutes. Legere synthetic reeds are excellent, although they don’t try to feel like cane.
This video was a good idea, and it definitely fills a need, but there isn't enough playing! I was waiting for an extended session on the VK1 that never came. A 3-second burst doesn't tell us much. But since you bought one of the reeds, maybe you could take it home and work up a longer playing sample.
Thank you for the feedback and I am sorry if hearing the comparison was what you were looking for. The microphone was set up to do conversation only and was not intended to showcase the sound at all. I will definitely look into doing deeper review of the VK1 as you had suggested ;)
I successfully used legere clarinet reeds on my sopranino sax for many years until they finally made an Eb sopranino reed. I don’t like the feel of cane reeds at all.
What is the mouthpiece that you used in this trial? I use a Meyer 5M, and am looking to use clarinet reeds, but clearly the mouthpiece makes the difference...
大変興味深い時間でした!up有難うございました✨
