Puppet Master. The Creature With The Atom Brain. The Brain That Wouldn't Die. City Of The Dead. House By The Cemetary. Pet Semetary.
I agree 100% With you on the remake. But this one is just plain awesome. And I even nabbed this one on dvd at my local pawn shop many years ago. That part towards the end when he hits his wife's face with the phone! Ruthless man!
57 here; this is based on the real case of John List here in Westfield, NJ, home of The Watcher, Addams family creator Charles Addams, etc.I don't remember if creator Donald Westlake wrote a bk 1st or just the screenplay, only that on a recent anniversary of the murders, The Star-Ledger newspaper, NJ's largest, wrote that Westlake's dad had lost his job & dressed & left "for work" every day for like 6 mos & hung out at the train station or some such until a friend of his mom's told her. Mr. List left for work every day, too. There was more to the List story (strict Lutheran, wifey had an STD from a sinning 1st hubby, the daughter wanted to be an actress (sinful)), etc. Westlake said he imagined "what if" this guy "started again" b/c his 1st family was a disappointment, rinse repeat? A good movie. Terry O'Quinn went on to greater fame in "Lost," which is great, if you haven't seen it. :-)
Excellent review as always. I enjoyed it. I seem to remember watching this on really late night TV on a cable channel. Here's a suggestion for a review. It's a Brazilian flick called, At Midnight I'll take your soul. This is another one I remember from my distant past. It has subtitles. Might be worth a look.
I thought to myself earlier today Next time you make a cult horror review I should suggest The Stepfather So uhhhhhhh You ever heard of The Stepfather?
There's acouple of scenes in this movie where trespassing occurs. One where the brother is roaming around Jerry Blake's/real name Henry Morrisons original family home from the beginning of the film and one where Stephanie crawls through the window of an empty home where Jerry posed as a real estate agent and murdered her doctor in an earlier scene. I know the brother Jim was upset that his sister was murdered in that house but good lord as two grown adults they should know better that trespassing is against the law reguardless of the houses condition whether its just plain empty with nobody living in it or empty and also under a gut renovation or something. If you have interest in going inside an empty home or if it's a home that you used to live in and you want to see how it looks inside when it's being gut renovated ALWAYS just ask permission because it's not worth going in without permission and then getting in alot of trouble with the police and all kinds of shit afterwards. Even if you just get permission from one of the guys working on the house or ask the construction manager of the house you never know what they might tell u and they might even say yes and let u go in. If anything don't go on the weekend because the workers obviously don't work weekends and theres nobody there to ask to go inside so swing by on a weekday.
@@awfulmoviereviews6792well after I first moved out in 2021 during the pandemic it had only been a week or a few days roughly after I officially moved out of my old house and it was just abandoned and at the time no work had been done to it yet and it was just empty and I went to take a peak inside the window and I even still had my key to the house but I couldn't get inside because the landlord had supposedly changed the locks after I moved out. Not sure if I would've gotten in trouble for going in and taking one last walk around and maybe get a video in as well. It was 530 in the morning and I was on my way to work when I stopped over to take a peak in the window and there were no cameras or anything so I don't think anybody would've know I was there even if I was able to get in the house with my key.
@@mikesilva3868 hope you do watch it and let us know what you think. I forgot who told me to watch Dark Star which they said it was a bad movie and it is!! They owe me a therapy session 🤣🤣
Find the most awful movie out there and do a remake and it's always worse. You would think some creative director would have learned from the first and improved on it...but naaah! It would be like taking one of Mozart's most famous works and making it better.
Well to be fair, movies like The Thing and The Fly are two prime examples of remakes which surpass the original, I think. But The Stepfather is FOR SURE not one of them lmao.
Ohh another film I haven't heard of before, you really do highlight some overlooked gems.
Agreed 🎉
Legend has it I do! Go give it a peep if you're interested.

This is the movie that got Terry O'Quinn noticed.
He's actually a pretty good actor.
@@oldgoat142 Yes, he is.
Really ? This was his big break ? 🤔😮
Well he's pretty good in this, that's for sure. He lifts this movie up.

A cult classic indeed !
Good one! Kinda reminds me of 1994s "serial mom" with Kathleen Turner only serious. Never saw the sequel, now I wont touch it! 😄
Well it's actually a remake ! But yeah, don't touch it haha.
As for Serial Mom, I've never ever heard of that one lol. Imma go check it out.

Yeah definitely savage lol. She's the same actress from Troll (1986). Such a bad movie.
Cult Horror review the 1989 movie Warlock? It's not exactly horror but it's practically an inside joke with one of my friend groups
I could check it out yes !! 😁

The first 2 movies are great. Skipped part 3 and the remake I give 7/10.
