They definitely are the longest standing girl group in terms of consistently promoting and doing activities as a group as well as having comebacks regularly, while there are other older groups who are still together, they're either inactive as a group, or we only see them together on rare special occasions and maybe get a comeback/group activity every 2-3 years.
The bridge part of Zimzalabim was part of the original song haha. Neither the original or the Killing voice is acapella; they're both just stripped back a bit and focus on the vocals
I love watching first time reactors to RV getting hit by Wendy's vocals like truck-kun in an isekai! It should be called, "I got hit by Wendy's vocals and wound up in another world of Kpop vocals"
Actually it was Joy who was lead rapper, but when Yeri joined she became more a rapper vocalist and Joy became more vocalist. However, Joy still raps occasionally in their b-sides track. Also, Wendy and Seulgi also can rap as well..but are more known for their vocals. Wendy has rapped a couple of times in their mini albums/albums. So technically, ALL RED VELVET MEMBERS CAN SING AND RAP!
I've been a rabid fan of this group since late 2016, and I remember losing my sh*t when they finally uploaded the photo of our girls on the Dingo set letting everyone know they were FINALLY going to be on the show. If there was ever a group in Kpop that deserved a Killing Voice, it was Red Velvet.
My entry song to them was actually a b-side, surprisingly. The song was called Day 1 from their Red album (first full album) and for some reason Spotify thought I'd like it even though I had never listened to k-pop before. (A friend also had the same song recommended to them so it might be a phenomenon. Like how the RUclips algorithm randomly blesses certain videos.) Then, a year or so later after first adding that to my liked songs and listening to it frequently, I found that song again and decided to check out their most recent release, at that time Queendom. I liked the album so I worked my way back through their releases, and well, here I am!
Yeri and Irene sing alot more on the last few albums. They didn't nearly as much on the older songs, but that's just how those songs were written. Can't exactly change them now.
Red velvet was one of my first k-pop groups when i don't even knew what k-pop was 😂i saw some mvs of bigbang,psy,snsd,hyuna,2ne1 and red velvet(ice cream cake) in highschool, years later i found out who they were
Regarding the line distribution: the vocal line (which I consider to be Wendy, Seulgi, and Joy) get most lines, in that order (Wendy 1st, Seulgi 2nd, Joy 3rd) in pretty much every album. I feel like Irene and Yeri trade places sometimes but Irene gets 4th more often. There are plenty of songs that are exceptions but this is a pretty solid rule. But you may get a slightly skewed impression from watching the Killing Voice since they always like to find the "killing part" of the song which is usually toward the end, with lots of adlibs and bridge high notes and final choruses for the main and lead vocalists to show off on. I feel like Irene starts a lot of songs at least from my perception, but you don't really hear that here. Still, the argument that Irene and Yeri's talents are underutilized is pretty strong!!! In my view Irene gets a lot of center time, so I just wish Yeri got a little more center time and then it would feel like it was fair for everyone. Personally, my opinion is that with a group like this, the members themselves don't care if they don't get many lines or center time, so it's mostly a matter of pleasing fans.
Agreed. Thankfully Yeri and Irene has been singing alot more the last couple of albums. And I think you're right ; they care more about making a song Luvies like than who gets the most lines in any given song
thanks for taking the time to react to red velvet!! 😭💓 you should listen to automatic, be natural and kingdome come, also the subunit of irene and seulgi!! I love your videos
oh okok, thanks! Although it is difficult for me to pay to see them because I am from latam haha, anyway, thanks for watching their songs 🫶🏻🫶🏻@@SungJoonYT
Joy said their episode was the longest one on killing voice haha
