I'm a percussionist/drummer who has played with some talented heavy weights in the business and on a professional level, and I think it's fair to say that I know my stuff. Make no mistake about it people, this guy Shovell is no fool despite the clown like antics and silly faces. This is exactly how percussion should be applied to techo dance music period. Now let me hit you with some knowledge folks, a great timbalero named Jimmy Delgado once did the same with rap music in the early 1980s when he applied and recorded some smokin' killer timbale solos on the now classic hit song- "The Breaks" by legendary Hip Hop artist Kurtis Blow. It's the same concept. I don't understand some of the hateful comments? And in regards to the official LP intro, frankly who cares. You don't have to be some big-time endorser to represent Latin Percussion. As far as I'm concerned anyone who spends good money on any of their products, whether you are well known or not, a pro, or just beginning, should automatically earn that right you dig? The same goes for Fender, Gibson, Korg, Marshall, Pearl, Paiste, Numark, or whatever brand and Instrument you play, and at any skill set level, you represent the brand! Now let me hit you with even more knowledge, I personally knew Martin Cohen the founder of LP and he would not have mined this at all, nor I don't think DW (Drum Workshop) who bought the LP company in 2014 would be bothered by an official LP intro clip being used In this video, it's totally harmless. All I see here is a guy that's having fun with what he loves to do and from his soul, and heck this guy doesn't sound bad at all. A big shout out from New York to Louie Bernadeti and to all percussionist representing the UK. Shovell you rock!!! Everything reminds me of the percussion instruments used in the live versions of the 98 Degrees song “Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)” from their older concerts with the exception of a few times. Such instruments can be so sexy and soothing albeit fiery and upbeat!
Maybe you Marcus Vee should get some lessons in respecting one as a person instead of complaining about lessons a musician SHOULD take. #ismelljealousy
