Judy had so much talent - I think Robert really liked her - he was a kind man - she needed kindness - they were so good together

Judy is and will always be in a class above all the rest of any entertainer. She and Goulet became great friends while co starring in “Gay Purree”

He never just sings the song. He embodies it

It's said that talent like this happens once in a generation well here's proof that there are exceptions to this! Both of their deaths left everyone who loved them a little poorer. Thank goodness for media coverage and recordings that we can enjoy again and again!

Artistry, craft, dedication and God given talent. An absolutely stunning relic of a lost age of artistic excellence.

A delightful memory of two vocal giants. They both sound marvelous and clearly were having a ball. Interesting that RG never sounds bored singing his signature song, and updates the arrangements, making it always sound fresh. Real pros!

I can’t imagine what it felt like to be facing Judy Garland when she sang ! I probably would have fainted from ecstasy!

What more can you say about Garland and Goulet? What an incredible team. They find beautiful intimate moments with each other. I have to make note of the beautiful way that this number is staged and filmed - one long master shot full of variety and nuance. The director trusted the duo to deliver the goods - and they did it perfectly. As Goulet was singing IF EVER I WOULD LEAVE YOU, I was thinking what a great Guinevere Garland would have made.

Why is it necessary to insert homophobia into such a lovely moment?

When I hear voices like this, there are days when I wonder whether we have to come up with a different word besides "singers" for those who do whatever it is they do today. These two are irreplaceable!

It’s called talent! These legends only needed a mic and orchestra to blow everyone away with sheer joy! Today’s singers are just screaming hacks compared to Garland and Goulet

    • @marysmith27
      @marysmith27 6 лет назад +4

Yes...The so-called "singers" /"non--musicians" of today are quite untalented and boring. Can't hold a light to these two.

Oh goodness on earth I saw this as a child and that kiss after "If Ever I Would Leave You" stayed in my psyche 4ever and a day … Judy was indeed a shining start of the higest magnitude … Goulet was a vocal dynamite.
Thank you for sharing this video of two icons… may they rest in eternal loving peace … the gifts they gave the world has immortalized them.

What a performance of two great and unforgettable singers;!!!.Sadly today we dont have artists like these two.Julie Andrews was for me Robert favourite costar but Judy came next. What a chemistry they had !!I also loved when he sang with Barbara Cook in the Bell telephone Hour and later in Larry King weekend. Robert was a great bass-baritone who could have sang opera if he had wanted( heard him singing a Saint Saens aria). But he chose to be a great Brodway and concert performer and when he sang with the Great Judy it was magic. What marveleus artists they were.!!!The were Unique Vera.,

The Judy-Phil Silvers-Robert Goulet special has often been called the pilot for her TV series, but there's absolutely nothing in common. This delightful special was perfect for Judy. It's funny and she's having a ball. She was a nervous wreck during the series and it showed. It didn't take her long to know it was bad and likely doomed.

Wow :D What a delight for them both, two voices that can stand toe to toe and then take wing, no restraint, let it fly.

No one sings like this today in America. Other countries have good singers but the US does not in pop music. ( Classical music does NOT have this dearth.) Taylor Swift - You couldn't sing like this if your life depended on it. You are NOT classically trained. There was so much REAL TALENT back then: now what we have are a bunch of screamers who mouth out profanities.

How kind and sweet is he with her. She sounds drunk or stoned on meds, but sounds ok at the end of her career. He knows he's with a former great talent and is moved by her spirit and guts
