Years of experience. Also online chess is more easy to keep the time management than playing in real life. When you have low time on real life chess tournament, its more hard to keep up. So any GM that play on online chess basically have more easy way to keep up the time
When you're in time pressure, you just need to act. It's the same logic with too much thinking about the past. There is only one option that's productive in any way. Playing into the stress in stressful situations can only harm you, whether you're a GM or not. It even applies outside of chess.
The technique of realizing the 1 pawn advantage in a rook-bishop endgame with 20 seconds on the clock was incredible. I wish chess didn't require 10 years of hard daily work.
I love to watch the Gruenfeld defense wielded by a really great player like Daniil. And how calm he is in the endgame so low on time is even more impressive.

This game is cool. He spent the first few parts of the game really thinking things through and spending more time than his opponent and towards the end when he had 30 sec left he started responding naturally with very little hesitation like he was conversing with his opponent.
At 5:42, 3079 opponent has 114 sec left while Dobov has 23 sec left. At 10:04, 3079 opponent resigns with 6.6 left while Dubov still has 11.9 left. Scary.
Grunfeld really underrated by black surprised it's only now getting a resurgence, really giving you a lot of chances in the opening especially blitz format a lot easier to play.
Grunfeld is not underrated. Its a very complex opening and you can easily lose the game with one bad move. Amateurs with sense avoid it for that reason and play safer openings. Tired of seeing everything labeled as "underrated" by people with no clue.
@@MrSupernova111 I'm a pretty experienced player would hardly say I haven't a clue, been using Grunfeld ever since I played in the 2006 European Youth Chess Championships.

It's been used at the very top for decades, how is it underrated in any way? Guys like Nepo, Svidler and MVL are well-known for their use of it: they have 200+, 300+ and 250+ competitive games each, respectively. It's even Kasparov's 4th most used opening with black, which suggests it's been at the top for 40+ years now. It was used 4 times in the 2021 Candidates, and it's made multiple appearances at every Candidates Tournament going back over a decade, as far as I can tell. Carlsen even used it twice in the 2013 event.

4:16 Why didn't white rook take black bishop on F-2? If black plays rook D-1 check, bishop on F-3 takes on D-1. White wins material. Does it have to do with a rook pin? At some point, black's queen will have to move.
