Sandwiches are not fika, that’s mellanmål
Bra svengelska
Little Sketet new definition is it can be fika. But for a real fika you need some sweet fika bread too
Karin Johansson ja det är inte riktig fika
True
@@karinjohansson7262 That new "definition" is (Wikipedia backed) desinformation. There is no real definition of slang words, although it originally simply meant coffee. I don't even use that vulgar expression very much (tar en kaffe med bakelse på kondiset, inte en "fika").
Hi guys, hope you enjoyed Stockholm and the guided tour at the Vasamuseum, I am the guide in the picture ;-)!
We loved it, you did a fantastic job. Really fascinating history, thanks so much!
@Tobbe Häggberg Hey, atleast we tried...
Swigedy swogedy im swedish and I say hello
@Tobbe Häggberg Yea thats true, its a part of our history and shall remain so!
I love it when people react to my country, amazing
@QUIT nice
Håller helt med asså
You ordered sandwiches and called that a fika!? You're suppose to order something sweet for fika. x'D
Come to Sweden again and I'll learn you. ;P
We learned that after the first few days! The coffee was still awesome though 😁
Wot, as a Swede I'll have you know sandwiches are fine for Fika. It's the coffé that makes it!
@@LinusAkaPano oh awesome, so we did it right after all. Thank you!
@Fredrik Larsson
And maybe they can TEACH you to speak english.
kaffe och macka förfan!
I love this video! This is the way to truly explore a new city, a new culture! Those small mistakes you've made are the ones you will always remember when you're looking back when you grow old!
Your expectations before the trip is awesome (you made me feel the excitement too!)
From a 69y old/young swede living in Umeå (about 650k north of Sthlm)
Thanks so much! I'm really glad that you enjoyed the video, your comment made my day! :P
"-Look at that guy, he looks important." xD
MAX is better than macdondalds and burgerking combined
Next time we will try it for sure!
Ew

@@MilesDeep
MAX have a slogan that says "Sveriges godaste hamburgare", which means "Sweden's most delicious hamburgers".
@MEEK_MEEK fax bro
You guys went wrong when y’all wanted to take the subway.
You guys went up to the communal train.
Subway is downstairs from where you guys were
Should’ve gone to national museum and modern art museum
Yes we didn't realize that we were supposed to be taking the subway, whoops! Hopefully next time we are in Sweden we can visit both of those museums, I hope to be back sometime soon!
@@MilesDeep In the clip when you are walking towards the trainstation you walk past a sign with just a blue T, that's the subway =)
@@MilesDeep But it was hilarious watching you when you realized you where at the wrong place :P
The national museum has bin closed for like fice years. So thats hard
”Tack” is not rude, it means ”thank you”. ”Tack så mycket” means ”thank you very much” so it doesnt really matter
I think he said "tak" means "roof". Because "tak" and "tack" sound similar to a foreigner (which is fair). Thought he said rude too on my first listen
@@eva1585 Ooooh okay thank u❤️
@@filippa6839 No worries 😊
11:19 It was actually designed pretty well...but the king at the time decided on some last minute changes adding more guns which was...bad.
Leave the boat building to the nautical engineers I guess.
11:45 "Mer" = "more"
It is a beautiful ship. The guide did mention that the king wanted an extra row of cannons added. Fascinating stuff!
@@MilesDeep Yup, and we did also cheap out on the ballast stones at the bottom of the hull which made the whole thing top heavy and unstable in the water...hmm.. it seems that when we Swedes try to build cutting-edge military technology (be it the Vasa or JAS 39 Gripen) we somehow always mess up the stability part of it...🤔
if you want the cold Swedish wether come to Norrbotten
We love the cold. Such a nice vacation from the heat in Florida!
or lappland, kiruna
I've just come back from a holiday to Luleå....I think it hit -26C on one of the days....now that's cold!!
I love winter and snow and ski
Emil Eriksson weather *
To be real Sweden is just not about Stockholm, the south like Malmö and Göteborg is absolutely beautiful, just please visit one of them next time because it’s very beautiful
Absolutely, we would love to come back and visit more parts of Sweden! I have heard great things about the north as well!
The burger joint they passed at 6:39 is called 'Max' and it serves Swedens most delicious burgers! ❤🍔
You should go to Sweden in summer when it's warm and beautiful
I like winter
Try to go to north Sweden where you can see the Northern lights. Tho i am from Stockholm im pretty sure you would think its amazing. And you should live in the hotel made of ice. :D
That sounds amazing, I would love to come back to Sweden and see the north! A Hotel mad of ice sounds really cool too.
I love Sweden, and I love Swedish people. 🇸🇪🇸🇪
You and me both! 🇸🇪
Aaaw, thanks!
Tack = Thanks/Thank you. Tak = Roof lol
We we're learning a lot! We did attempt to speak some swedish lol
@@MilesDeep
"Tak" also means "ceiling".
I think one common way to differentiate between them is to say "yttertak" and "innertak" ("ytter-" and "inner-" mean "exterior" and "interior").
Fun to see my own town from a tourist perspective. Btw, from the central station to old town is just one station but you take the subway. You were by the commuter trains.
We loved Stockholm, and yeah we did learn how to take the train correctly in a later video!
You should get to the north of Sweden in the summer and eat surströmming... One of the highlights of the year...
I really wanted to try surströmming, I just need to find a local Swede to show me how to eat it correctly!
MilesDeep
you Dont want to eat that, it’s Swedish fish. -_-
I love ur vid btw
MilesDeep go to Norrland and a Norrlänning learn you how to eat it
"Will they ever learn how to use the train?" xD
You guys are funny! :D Hope you enjoyed your time in Sweden :) You should come back here in the summer!
Thank you, we would love to come back in the summer. Hopefully soon!
Hope You enjoyed Sweden! Next time try the country side, it has so much more to offer than only a big city! Welcome to use my vacationhouse! Nice vid.
We loved Sweden. I really hope to return soon and visit the countryside, maybe in the summer next time. Thank you!
You should have gone to a really Swedish cafe for your first "fika". That was a sad USA: inspired cafe chain.
We enjoyed the Fika we had, but I agree we should have went to some more traditional Swedish Cafe's. Hopefully next time! (We did actually visit some more traditional Swedish coffee shops in one of the later episodes)
I would look for signs that say "Konditori" or "Café och konditori" instead of just "Café". In a konditori they actually bake their own pasteries and bread, whereas in cafés they often serve massproduced "fikabröd".
Did no one from Sweden notice that they were talking swedish in the background when they were on the norwegian plane? Great and interesting video!!
I love the way Swedish sounds, such a cool language!
"Norwegian" is a flight company that has destinations all over the world.
I am from Sweden and I often fly with Norwegian when I travel home from university and back, maybe about one flight per month on average.
The plane was heading för Stockholm, so naturally there would be some swedes on the plane...
I live in Sweden and you can't take that train to old town or gamla stan. You haf go to a subway that are freakin evrywear and you can see old town from there. That train should go to göteborg or uppsala. The subway sign is a T. I hope you're enjoyed the trip
We loved the trip, hope to be back to Sweden sometime soon to learn more about the culture!
Nellie Becker they even walked past the subway station without knowing it was the subway. When i go somewhere i do some research before i go there.
Шведы приятные люди, как и любые другие образованные люди. Спасибо за видео.
May 2018 I went to Stockholm and Gothenburg and now I will come to Kiruna 🙏 I love Sweden 💛💙
I love Sweden too 🇸🇪
You listened to a Stockholm Guide at the museum!! You probably didn't get updated information. The Vasa museums own guided tours are for free and are the best ones you can get!
Its not a fika without kanelbulle
We did have some kanelbulle and they were delicious!
@@MilesDeep sry I did miss that

@XVI 47182
I bet you have never even been to Sweden.
You are probably just one of those brainwashed sheep who have watched the worst news about the worst ghettos outside of Stockholm and then believed in the lies that "all of Sweden is like that!".
No, it's not, and that's it. Get over it.
@XVI 47182
Both my parents are Swedish, I have lived in Sweden my entire life, I speak fluent Swedish and I have blonde hair, light skin and blue eyes.
So yes, I am a Swede in every way that you can imagine.
Visiting Sweden during the winter? Why? Do you seriously want depression? Come back in the summer guys, make Sweden some justice.
We still really enjoyed visiting in the winter. So we would probably love the summer!
@@MilesDeep Sweden is something special during the summer season because that's the time people shine, during October-March we are depressed due to lack of sunshine. Hopefully you will come back, you're welcome back!
Yes we will have to come back to Sweden for sure, I would love to see the summer!

It’s really helpful to ask people if you need to find your way
So fun to se how you try to take the train in Stockholm. You take the subway for public transportation inside Stockholm. The trains you were at is for transportation out to the rest of Sweden.
Hope you enjoyed your stay in Sweden and you had a good experince
Yes we loved our time in Sweden! hope to be back somtime
You have to go to Sweden in the summer time May-August (if you not into wintersports)... we don`t see the sun for 8 month so you have to think about this when you wisit us! :) in the summer time Sweden blosoms like a flower! and the girls... hurra!
Do not pay any attention to the sulky Swedes’ remarks about the fika and whatnots, some of us are fierce unwelcoming critics. You did great!
Thanks so much, we really enjoyed our fika and hope to come back to visit Sweden again soon!

Are you trying to break the world record in being cynical or something?
You should come to the north of Sweden next time. Where I'm from you can see the northern lights and we have real winter temperature Today it is -20 degrees Celsius (-4 Fahrenheit) earlier this week we had -30 degrees Celsius (-22 Fahrenheit). If you are going to visit the north of Sweden i would recommend doing it in March ore July. January and February are the coldest months but in March the sun is up longer and is starting to warm.
That would be awesome, we would love to see the North. Especially the northern lights, will definitely will have to come back and visit!
The ship itself is called the Vasa ship, the King who made the ship whas named Vasa.
I mean the King's name whas Vasa
you should come to Sweden in like june/July, it’s so beautiful and just amazing. You can go by boat in Stockholm’s skärgård it’s so nice. Gotland is also a very beautiful place where many Swedes spends summer, just some tips for ya
That sounds amazing, we would really love to return to Sweden during the summer!
IM from Sweden🇸🇪
Sweden 🇸🇪❤️
having a sandwich is not really considered a fika. Fika is when you have like a cinnamon bun or some other sweet treat and coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Also when you want to travel within stockholm you do not take the train, you take either the subway, a bus or a taxi (trams do also exist in some areas of stockholm but are not that common). Train is usually only for when you travel between cities. "tack" means "thanks" and "tak" is "roof"
Visit gothenburg and then go to Liseberg its very fun there
Would love to, hope to be back soon
Sweden on swedish Sverige🇸🇪
I like dis im from sweden and its weird but its soooo funny to me dat der have ing sutch a tuf time in sweden at furst
When you travel to another part of the world you should take time to visit all countries bordering it that way you dont need one trip for every country, but instead 1 trip for 2-8 more countries
The train station is for the trains that go to other citys in Sweden you sud get to the subway and then take the tube to Gamla Stan
We did manage to take the correct train in a later video!
I am from Sweeeden :)
That's awesome, I love your country 👍
The old TV at the hostel works, I rebuilt it when I used to work at City Backpackers, has a monitor and computer inside :)
Wow that's so cool, thanks for watching the video! Did you rebuild the old Mac computer on the front desk too?
@@MilesDeep My buddy and I put them together, emptied out the case and put iPads inside, pretty quick job haha.
07:00 Guys, I don't know how to say this. You're nowhere near the subway station. Those tracks you're standing next to are for the regional trains. Stockholm Centralstation are only for the regional trains. When you're walking past the burger joint "Max", you passed the entrance to the subway station lol
Thank you, we did end up figuring that out in a later video!

When you step on a buss in Stockholm as a tourist you will get the rude awakening that you can't buy a bus ticket on the buss. You have to have planned your trip ahead of time and purchased it somewhere else before stepping on the buss. In our case we had gone to the US embassy via taxi and found a bus stop outside so we thought we'd grab the buss back to the hotel. Luckily for us at least the buss driver was cool and let us ride for free. We would gladly have paid.
Lucky that the people in Sweden are usually very kind and understanding :)
@@MilesDeep
We were lucky as far as the bus driver went. He was one of the many cool Swedes. There are also allot of Swedes who are "square-heads" and sticklers to complicated rules, and Sweden has allot of them.
I've recently come from Luleå and i was able to pay by card on the bus to go places! Just no cash payments taken on the busses

its the wrong time to visit sweden, you should come back in like june and enjoy the late nights and early mornings but i guess the winter time is beautiful too
We had a great time in the winter (we even enjoyed the cold). But we will definitely be back for the summer, sounds like there is a lot to do!

Here in sweden coffee taste and looks like coffee. We're top 3 consumers of coffee in the wordl with Finland being number 1.
These guys look more like Vikings than the Swedes themselves.
Haha that's awesome, I always wanted to look like a Viking
haha awww, love that you went to the regular trains to go to the old town wich is about 1km away from that very platform :D
We ended up walking, but we did figure it out in one of the later videos!
Where did you land. At Stockholm Arlanda AirPort?
Yes that's right!
0:55 sorry to tell you this but the snow comes in late january and stays until maximum late february/early march

I would love visit Norway, maybe I can cross some of them off on my next trip!

7.00 Kind of fun when you try to take the train to Old town when its 600 meters away! Don´t you do maps?
We wanted to try and take the train, don't worry we did succeed in the later videos!
I saw that big ship on TV, I am wondering if it is a recreation, it has to be right? The show hadn't specified, BUT, what ship would've sunk and THEN sat on the ocean floor for many hundreds of years and remained intact? Even in a "dead zone" where the creatures that eat wood aren't able to live, you'd think the wood would've been too weak to hold up outside of the ocean, in a real gravity situation.
In the US there are a couple or few shows that have featured ships like that on. I can't recall which show I saw it on, BUT, I am sure I'd seen that ship. I also saw a ship that was the actual boat or what remains of it. We've had shows about how Vikings MAY have been the first Europeans to come to America, also a show called "Drain the oceans" about shipwrecks and U boats on the ocean floor, also a few other shows about shipwrecks, so, I am NOT sure which show I saw it on, BUT, that ship in that museum, I know I've seen before on TV. I did stop this video to write this comment, so, I am wondering IF letting this video play out will reveal IF this is a recreated ship made from "plans" or drawings of the ship made a long time ago, BUT, I'm thinking there won't be. This is a couple of guys videoing their trip to Sweden NOT about the ship.
Okay, I saw the whole video and that can't be the actual ship it is in TOO good shape. I know that Swedes and Norweigians ( I am not sure how to spell it) were great shipbuilders BUT being sunk for hundreds of years will totally "mess up" the woods structure, even in an ocean 'dead zone" where wood eating creatures can't live. I am sure that it is silly for me to even mention that it isn't the REAL ship that sunk, it is in pristine shape.
As for the red haired dude who's friend had said he's Irish, I've heard that many who lived in the UK were descendants of Northern Europeans so, maybe he is a Swede after all, genetically.
I am 2% Scandinavian, 1% Western European ( what;s that mean, German?) and 5% British according to my DNA test results, I am 92% Eastern European, which is no surprise, I was surprised to learn about the 8% NOT Eastern European. I am wondering what is "western european" I already had seen my 5% British, so, maybe German, Irish? Enough about me. Anyway, I'd have loved to see more in that museum, there must be more. Maybe there's an online tour on RUclips.
It's not a recreation, they have just fixed some stuff on it so it doesnt fall apart
American Strong Coffee is what my pee is like after 1 Swedish Standard coffee. Watering, bleak and smells a little tiny bit of coffee. And i have had alot of American coffee b4. Its like blown coffee, verry weak. I dont know why. Also there isnt much flavor to the american coffee, its like they used cardboard or old socks insted of coffee filters? 🤔 NO wonder they liked it here in sweden.
HAHA! I will admit, the coffee is Sweden is way better than most of the coffee that we get in the states. You can get good coffee in the US some places though lol
Hahahah you was in the spot for the old commuter trains, witch now goes from underground at Sthlm C. You need to go down for the tubes, but not too far, then u end up by the commuter trains kiss n hug 💟
Yes we didn't realize that until one of the later videos! Don't worry, we did eventually get it right lol
