As someone working in a very nice nyc salon this is exactly what we try to do. My main additions are 1. Always do the second wash because you probably missed something on the first and 2. Really SCRUB the scalp! Don’t be shy! It feels great. You also need to get all of the color off. 3. Rinse longer than you think you need to.
I absolutely loved this video! I'm in Cosmetology school and I'm taking my first clients this week. Was feeling nervous about shampooing but all your little tips and tricks make me really excited to hopefully offer a great shampoo service ❤❤
OMG how exciting!! Welcome to the best career out there! I’m so glad my video helped, practice will help especially on a friend that will give you honest feedback! Follow us on IG so we can keep up with your cosmetology school journey!! @mavenuniversity
@@mavenuniversity Thank You so much! I did my friends hair today for practice and she said the scalp massage (I used the ones from the video) was so relaxing she almost fell asleep lol 💖💖 I' ll have my first "real client next week 🤩
Yes girl!! Way to go! That’s the best way to keep a client, you can do okay hair but you put them to sleep in the shampoo bowl and they’ll stay around!🤣
@mavenuniversity in the next video let A girl client dye your hair dark brown backwards in the sink with Tin Foils in your hair the whole head dark brown in the next video in A 3hr video when you and her talk
You gotta pick your guests head up and scrub. I hold my guest up with one hand and scrub with the other. Cup your hand in the back to rinse. Point the water towards you at all times. I’m sure you figured this out by now but commenting for general information sake.
@@maggiee639 aww thank you! I gave up trying after a couple weeks. I am now smushed against the wall on the right side of the bowl where I can do it easily and efficiently without getting anyone wet.
@mavenuniversity I have a friend that comes to the house and we have dinner and drink while I do her hair. I soak her every single time. I'm an NFL size guy and she usually has to put on one of my shirts after (which looks like a dress)
There's no way you rinsed all the product from her nape, you lifted it to scrub and massage but didn't to rinse. This method would not work for a colour client

Just got a job as a shampoo tech and this is deff the most helpful video I’ve watched
thank you so much for your feedback! I hope you have a very prosperous career!
You could have used more water to wash the remaining foam from the hair. Definitely not a good job in the end but loved all your other tips.
That’s my thought, you need to really rinse the hair. When you think you’re done, keep rinsing!
watching this video made me realize i have a minimal effort hair dresser
@@valentinehanlon5402 awh man! Well if you’re in DFW come see us!!
We just got these bowls and i hate it! How do you wash behind their neck?? I didn’t see it in this video. I keep getting water everywhere

@@jessmos1569 not gonna lie I prefer the side sinks for this reason. Much easier to get to the back of the neck!
How long do you let the hot towel sit and how long would you say the shampoo experience is overall?
Thank you for sharing :)
Hi there whats the name of your chair or bowl ? Thank you ❤

Hey TJ! Yes I’ll be making more like this! I’m so glad you enjoyed it, are you in the beauty industry?!
@@mavenuniversityHi no I'm not in the industry but shampoo and hair play vids are always so relaxing like you see in ASMR vids.
@@tj4070 haha omg yes I thought it was just me, but it’s very asmr like for me too! Hope to see ya around the channel in the future!
I mean who can deny how great it feels too! lol Best ever!
Shampooing a client looks plain simple; I didn't realize that there are that many protocols that goes into it.
It’s one of those things that are easy once you’ve done it 100 times lol.
great video but what if your a guy with short nails doing the hair??
@@coreyacre6070 use the pads of your finger tips with generous pressure
Use tons of shampoo, take 30 minutes, don't drown them.
haha yes emphasis on the don't drown them.. unless they are being a Karen then mild drowning is permitted (;
