Both the Mac Mini, and especially the upcoming M4 Ultra Mac Studio, are currently far better options than the Mac Pro, especially if M4 Extreme is cancelled.
Just sell a version of the Pro desktop that’s exactly the same chipset and chassis. Face it…we don’t need that chassis, but we love it. But not for 5k more! It’s a chassis. It’s not special. The M-Chip is the special part.
Why hasn’t anyone created a more affordable PC desktop for AI? There is a gap in the market since there aren't any quality alternatives available and the demand for end consumers has grown a lot.
Hopefully they are waiting for apple to either develop their own pcie and egpu core gpus cards alliw booting and decurity from external and pcie drives where if the internal ever dirs you can still boot from external fully without restrictions. This is needed by design houses.who cant have down time. Or apple can dimply lucense specific amd or Nvidia pcie and egpus via tb4 and tb5. Having apple core GPUs combined with nvida or amd would instantly make macs the fastest at all games cd cad blender 3d and would double the media encoders power with efx plugins encoding rendering 4;6 i 12 24k editing making this a must have for media pros and if they can use the gpu processing for audio snd audio plugins ai we are talking tens if thousands of tracks efx and instrument pluginns

The term 'chipset' refers to control chips on a motherboard, not the CPU - there is no 'M4 chipset'. Annoying! Pros require correct terminology.

Of course the most obvious answer is that TSMC is stopping M4 production because their machines are getting better faster than Apple can design chips.
