Very interesting video , Had very little knowledge on peltier coolers . Ive seen them used back in the day for cooling in certain components . Ive purchased two of these on sale for less than 10 USD each . Started using them for a low cost way to keep my medicine below ambient . Just cool enough for my concentrates . But i have had thoughts about what could be upgraded . Higher static pressure fans , Different cooling plate/heatsinks. Would absolutely love a video regarding your thoughts on what you would upgrade . Thank you for your time and making this amazing video!😁😁
No need. The solution is really quite simple, just as long as it's water tight and secured in place (to prevent accidental tip overs). Position it so that it opens like a chest, and pour some water into it. Once you cool the water, since it's much denser than air, not only will it have a large thermal mass it will also conduct heat faster. Sure, it's a little messy by comparison but really the limits at these small scales and prices aren't worth all the extra trouble for otherwise minimal gains in cooling rate. Cold water is simply unmatched in effectiveness and price, with the only downsides being regular water replacement and perhaps needing a nearby towel/rag.
Mine has just stopped working and I can see that the cooling block has a loittle bi of rust at the bottom so that probably waht has given out. Does anyone know if I can replace it? Thanks
Hi, thanks for a brief explanation! I have a project for you it’s a small unit that requires some of this cooling heating experience. Let me know if you available for a zoom call, I am in NY Eastern time zone. If we develop it, we spilt 50/50, I just like to be upfront about these things 😁!
I took mine apart for cleaning and assembeld it again. Now when I put on the power it heats up like crazy and eventually shuts off. Any idea what it could be? I didn't replace the thermal paste but left the old one on, could that be the cause?
Hoping you can help. I have a fridge identical to this. Its stopped working (doesn't turn on). I opened the back and cleaned the plates and fans because they were super dusty, but it still doesn't turn on. Any suggestions?
i’m wanting to turn a retro coca cola cooler of mine into a mini fridge, but mini fridge conversion kits are $700 while mini fridges are about $50. anyone think it’d be possible to take the parts from a mini fridge like this and apply them to a cooler?
Depends on how the cooler works. If it needs a compressor (I guess that's what the conversion kit is) then no. If the volume is not too big you can get away with a peltier like in the mini fridge. You can by peltiers and heatsinks fror pretty cheap (For the hot side you need as large of a heatsink as possible. For the inside if you can find a big one it's good aswell but it doesn't have to be super large) But keep in mind that this is less efficient and takes longer to cool down.
These refrigerators actually work wonders and even though they may take a little bit to cool off, as most refrigerators do, the heat sink technology is brilliant. The reason why the heatsink actually does its job and gets the inside down to very low temperature is, is because it's made a very purified aluminum
From the size of the inner "Heatsink" I wouldn't recomment buying it aswell. It's just a small plate. I can't imaginte that this fridge would work very well.
Haha, well if you have some experience you might be able to put an actual heatsink and fan inside the box to make it better. (I actually wanted to try this with the box. But I don't have time for that rn)
I was expecting the tiniest compressor ever but it’s non existent.
I didn't know about peltiers some years ago. And was amazed when I put power on this "unkown device" I got from a cooling box from the trash xD
@@thesciencefurry Any idea what's in the fridge walls? I want to drill a port in mine and wonder if I'll hit insulation
The Chinese do make small ac -compressor' check web ! there cool ha 🤫ha
youre a legend for making this video

I din't know tat there are Furries who Love science, and this surprised me a Lot!, also you deserve more subscribers! ♥♥
Wonderfull! Thank you
cool vid bro
what was the wattage needed of this mini fridge?
I have a fridge like this, and it has the aluminum block as well. However, why is the aluminum block have power going to it - what does that do?
If you increase the air flow, do you think would it make it colder?
It would, but only to a point I guess.
Would you make a video explaining what you would do to upgrade the little mini frige. Because I just want mine to cool faster
I could do that at some point, but for now I don't have any video like this planned.

How cold could the mini-fridge get before you took it apart

Is the inner material of this refrigerator as same as our normal commercial refrigerator?
No
No it has no compressor
How to replace the door handle?
I have one and it worked fine for about a year but now its not working and im not sure why. I though maybe a capacitor but i dont see one lol.

You're not supposed to reuse thermal paste
if you do not use thermal paste like cpu's it wont make good contact whit the heatsink , you need to buy
thermal paste.
Get a better Thermal paste and you should be good.

Does the fan turn on, or is it not doing anything at all?
try changing the thermoelectric module
@@asgelwkyi It doesn't get charged. It takes current and moves heat from one side to the other immediately.
Also mine has a HUGE heatsink
the switch to turn it cool or warm got stuck do u know how i can fix that
mine did that too it pisses me off it worked for a year and then got stuck
My switch is broken to hot and cold where can I purchase a new one to replace it ?
@s͓̽i͓̽m͓̽p͓̽ how pls explain
Are they at least Insulated walls ?
yes
what parts does the cooling/freezing of the fridge?
The white square with the 2 wire. When you power it one side gets hot and one side gets cold.
Lightning struck my house wires and it stopped working a month after i got it plug it in no light no fan spinning everything looks clean inside
Well, then it got fried from the lightning.😅
Esperaba mirar un mini compressor y encuentro un chip element
It works like a computer
No freon?
No freon😎
mine just died today. RIP tiny fridge
it makes a quiet ticking sound. might be the fan.but I'm not sure.
easier to replace it or use the big fridge. 😁
@@ruthshere9468 Try to replace the fan if it's only that.
my mini fridge is the exact same, but i was not provided a cord for it when i got it, can you link me one? i’ve had terrible luck 😅

Oof, I hate when manufactures do that on any device. Or when they're using these special screws.
The Science Furry 😔
This one not working cool & hot how to repair
Don’t buy it it’s not worth the money “You had it from the skip”
