Many of us come from different countries and cultures....and this hits us to the core. What does it mean? Regardless, of race, color or creed..........We need to slow down. Mindfulness. Thank you Insomnium for a sobering reminder.
One of the best lead-offs in melodic death metal that will ever exist I will always get goosebumps when I listen to the outro intro just every single time
I've been to 3 of their concerts and f... I must say they are on a different level, admiration at the creativity in writing lyrics and the melody is up to the sky, so grateful that I have discovered them years ago and still with them till now.
The Primeval Dark and While We Sleep are two of my favorite tracks off Shadows of the Dying Sun. They flow together so perfectly and they are truly beautiful songs.
I just love the lyrics about how you can't look back and always be full of regret and resentment - it hits really hard - the lyrics are both so brutally blunt and direct and poetic at the same time. The lyrics in "Weather the Storm" are similar to this. Both have been like therapy to me when working and I'm feeling down on a particular day which sadly is often - I put on my headphones and soak it in and see my mood improve. Love this band.
Once a year I listen to this and to this day goosebumps every single fucking time it’s too melodic and emotional to not feel that intensity of these two songs the intro into the sweet sweet melodies of while we sleep is to perfect it’s so magnificent and beautiful as a sequence of two beautiful fusions of music
Insomnium was the first group I went to see at a concert. And this song triggered my first moshpit. Thanks a lot Insomnium, for creating such masterpieces.
I have seen them end of last year. I have seen soooo many bands but that was the first time i finally had the chance to see them. Never would i have expected that they are now in my top 3 best concerts i have ever seen and i have seen ALOT of bands. Went with two friends who never heard them and they were awstruck aswell. So for those who haven't: SEE THEM WHEN U HAVE THE CHANCE. Don't hesitate
Perfect!! That is thd kind of music I needed to listen today, because I feel horrible and music is the only thing that put me out of the Chaos of my mind. Thank you so much Insomnium
Rooted within the pitch-black heart Entrenched behind weary eyes In the faraway song the cold sea sung In the calm whisper of winds afar It lies, calls and awaits deep in the primeval dark Embodiment of despair that never leaves or severs the ties I would tattoo that on my back with epic font
Perfect backcountry ski song... and i really do need to slow down.... and that grove I dropped into under the northern lights I just can't seem to find again
@@cd_systems-u8s Yes, It's elegant and haunting at the same time. Even though it's almost more like an intro to the album it's one of my favorite Insomnium songs.
Absolutely one of my all time favourites from this band and in the whole genre. I just weep, everytime I listen to it, as it is so sweet and emotional... especially at 7:00!
Yeah, they link together inter-track so I feel like it was a proper thing to do. I actually really hate when bands decide to do that, but I forgive Insomnium for it since they're so great :v
I feel it's a love hate relationship, the intro song just makes the song following it so much better because of the build up, but then sometimes the intro song is like 30 seconds, and it would sound dumb for it to come on, only to have the song following it be something else. (if you're listening to music on random)
That would be a good lyric, but the actual lyrics are pretty impactful as well. In the context of the song, the actual lyrics resonate well. The first few passages talking about what isn't there any more, regretting not making more of that time while it lasted, and with the distance between the present and the moments that are yearned for growing further with each sleep. The fleeting moments must slow down so they can continue to exist in remembrance..To catch them as if to grab hold and relive them again.. That's how I interpret it anyways, so while "cherish" would hit hard, to cherish is to hold dear, so it would suggest that the time is gone and he loves it for what it was, but is not yearning for that reconnection. I think the other lyrics would need to be a bit different to have it resonate as well. Great song and lyrics either way.

I'm not even thirty yet and like ninety percent of my friend group is fucking dead. More still are on their way out. I'm not handling it well. But now, as ever before, this brings me some reprieve. Thank you, Insomnium.
This is where I had hoped Amorphis would have gone after Elegy. Almost 20 years ago. Thankfully they course corrected eventually. I will close my eyes and pretend they did.
I totally like that. I dont pay much attention to the lyrics anyway. I think this creates a very nuanced sound, when its more about the underlying tone than the lyrics.
@@Blacksoul444 Im sometimes like that too, more so when you can barely understand the vocals then it just becomes another instrument and that's not bad

A heavier motto of Jack Johnson: Slow down everyone, you're moving too fast. Time can't catch you when you're moving like that.
I love Insomnium
Thx for saying this we all need to slow down
Don’t die

It's almost a sin not listening to them together.
Sadly not even the band play them together any more
Actually the primeval dark is a master piece alone
@@insparks782 That's unfortunate. Luckily the time I did see them they played them together.
I feel the same way about inertia through the shadows or all of winters gate.

If this combination of talent, power and raw emotion is not played at my funeral, I'm not going.
The beauty of the bittersweet memories of friends and family hurts my soul but lives within me forever. We need to slow down.

The "Album" of this year
Album of year always comes when Imsomnium releases album ;)
I was listening to this album repeatedly for a half of a year. It was epic as fuck.
Was too but then got depression (for other reasons lol) and it triggered me very much. When I finally was able to return to it I was very happy
Whenever Insomnium is playing the temperature in the room gets a few degrees colder.
For the longest time I thought it was "we need to slow down, so I can... cherish you" and I still think that hits harder but maybe that's just me.
