      dethmilk go look back at Galliano's era for Dior and see how much diversity he put on the runway, more than Raf ever did by a long shot, in fact probably more diversity on his runways than any other designer during his era. Have a damn seat.

    • @sjkaystuart1
      @sjkaystuart1 8 лет назад +2

      +dethmilk he may be a racist or Jew hater as you put it but he's entitled to his own opinions and beliefs as we all are .. where his talent and creativity as a designer are concerned those opinions and beliefs he has shouldn't effect the way people view his work and how much the fashion industry needs him. there's only one person that could match his skill and talent and ability to put a runway show together that was a marvel to the eye and sadly that man is on longer here.. John Galliano should be judged on his talent not on his religious beliefs

    • @davidroil1899
      @davidroil1899 7 лет назад

      totally .. i dont even recognize the direction that this label is taking now .. i am in the industry and have shown at international events and have seen the work that is out there ( as well as helped out some photographer friends in "the pit" on other shows that was fun) .. Galliano my have been a "black out drunk" as he said himself .. but this is really is beginner stuff for this label .. and he could really run this designer over any day ..

    The ONLY fashion house left that consistently produces solid, interesting and inspirational collections. Sarah Burton is just brilliant.
    There's something very 'Isle of Mann'/British/Scottish about this. The frothy dresses at the end, the seaweed-like decorations, the wet hair, the English flag references, the Elizabethan shoulders, the beachy soundtrack. There's something very proud about it all.

      I don't really find it that inspirational to be honest. Pretty standard pieces, nothing to make me jump out of my seat and go WOW. She's a talent but I think she's overstayed her McQueen residency. I don't know what direction Lee would've lead his label were he still alive, but I don't think he would settle for this kind of design as a representation of the McQueen house.

    I think Sarah did a great job here. Colliding the collection with this amazing music (I think it is Flo+The machine-Queen of peace intro) is another smart idea. She gives us exactly Mcqueen through this hard mother**ckin craftmenship that she does. I mean, this is some serious, intelligent clothes. I always want to see more from her, and I am always happy to spot Sarah's creation. 10/10

    it was a very solid collection. sleek, edgy, yet feminine. the hair and make up went very well with the theme or atmosphere that they were trying to capture. i love that it was drama-free and felt like it simply let the design do the talking. for me it was one of the strongest collections this season.

    Mcqueen was and is by far the most creative designer i have ever encountered. His clothes moved in such a way that it showed beauty, fierceness, femininity, and story. He created what he felt, broke the rules and blew away people at his shows awed by his creativity. He was an artist that knew how to express his art through his clothing creating iconic pieces and shows like Plato's Atlantis (obviously) . A beloved artist that will always be missed, but now i don't see Mcqueen anymore, he has disappeared, it needs to represent him, release the imagination that he had through the one who is creating the clothing. Ask yourself what Mcqueen would make, what would he imagine, what he felt what you feel and let soar let it fly. But this, this is not Mcqueen

    Why are people arguing so much? Just appreciate the beauty of these clothes, I know it's not Lee and it's not what he would do but it's never going to be. Everyone should stop being bitter and act like they are the shit because you may not like Sarah's work but frankly you most likely cannot be even compared to her. Just enjoy the show as it was intended and please keep your opinions to yourself. On a side note, I'm not defending anyone and personally I think houses should just die with their creative directors' passing. I agree that Lee was amazing and McQueen will never be the same without him but being this hateful towards Sarah is just pointless.

      Bulut Senyaprak I agree so much with the point you made about fashion houses dying with their founders. Not because the designers aren't good but because they are and you can't really be yourself while trying to uphold someone's fashion legacy.

    • @bulutsenyaprak327
      @bulutsenyaprak327 7 лет назад +4

      Tami P. Exactly! It would also be amazing for the industry, allowing new designers and houses to shine rather than already known brands getting all the spotlight.

    • @bulutsenyaprak327
      @bulutsenyaprak327 7 лет назад

      Enrique Rdz I personally don't really believe that owning a McQueen item is very relevant because people may appreciate or criticize a designer without owning a piece from them but I agree with you on how people criticize other people's work as if they are so much better while actually being irrelevant to the fashion industry.

    • @enriquerdz6537
      @enriquerdz6537 7 лет назад

    I don't know why there are some dislikes here... Because i truly loved this collection... There is no way Sara can be Mcqueen...everyone was born with his/her own mind ( side of thinking) that is why you will never see Mcqueen's collection again in the show except if you want Sara to copy the whole previous collections that he did...the same as Chanel... There is no way Karl can bring more of Chanel's creative side in the collection because he is not her... These previous respected designers are our source of inspiration, that is why, their left memories should always be kept in a better place (our minds) not to be abolished forever... #RespectToAllOfTheDesigners out there...

      People who judging Sarahs work season to season should understand that She is the creative director of this brand since Alexanders death, and in these years actually McQueen is exactly that what She gives to You, and you should wellcome it with respect. If you were a vip buyer of this brand, maybe then and only then you could take this kind of arrogant comment in private, but if you were that, probably you would understand that fashion is business and not an entertaining program for bored people. Things are always changing, and I'm absolutelly sure about that Alexander were very proud to Her, her softness and emotional intelligence with the McQueen legacy create one of the most sublime effect of our present.

    • @nickygamalinda4229
      @nickygamalinda4229 8 лет назад +1

      Absolutely right. I do not understand why these people refuse to see the weight of beauty in Sarah's work. They are all still referencing Lee's work. Today's time is different. it would be piece of cake for Sarah to come up with a collection that is true to lees taste. but who wants to remain there? I mean lizzy uses Rhiannas picture, it says alot about her

  • @francoandres6825
    @francoandres6825 8 лет назад +4

    The wild and magical coastal landscapes of the Shetland Islands were the origin of this collection. Their natural beauty has inspired local artisans who have passed their skills down through generations of women for centuries. In particular, gossamer fine Shetland Lace, worn by crofters’ daughters and royalty alike, woven with indigenous flora and fauna-wild heather, clover, poppies and roses; sea birds and underwater creatures both real and mythical-is re-imagined. The colourful interiors of solitary, deserted houses, faded over time and glimpsed through windows, fishing huts, sea walls, shipwrecks, lost treasure, Celtic paisley and the stoles and shawls sported by Scottish nobility are also referenced. Hand-sewn, patched Taatit rugs, traditionally given as wedding gifts, form the backbone of the story. When families are joined in wedlock, two of these are sewn together to become one precious symbol of unity and love.
    COLLECTIONSoftly tiered, narrow Shetland inspired lace dresses with delicately frayed edges are woven with the Tree of Life, ocean waves, spider webs, peerie flowers and cockle shell designs and worn with intricately worked leather harnesses edged with rows of jingling bells. More dresses are panelled, both oversized and worn close to the body, constructed out of patches of richly-coloured Fairisle knit. This is deconstructed further, pieced and patched with hand crochet or enhanced with tiny metal rings. Fine leather jackets are pieced and embellished with shipwreck rose embroideries. Voluminous dresses in handkerchief weight cotton voile are printed with bright blue thistle buds or delicately trailing florals and gathered to the torso with fine leather harnesses. The floral designs behind the embroidered leather, chain stitched leather and beaded lace panels are inspired by Sarah’s collection of antique fabrics, pieced together to form cutaway leather frock coats and corsets or jeans. This process is a nod to the Shetland Islands’ spirit of community and kinship. Celtic checks, originally worn by resident clans come in the form of sharp tailoring with wild rose and thistle threadwork and black jet leaf embroideries lending a proud, graphic and masculine edge. True to the Savile Row tradition that lies at the heart of the house of Alexander McQueen, strong-shouldered jackets, kilts and kickback trousers are slashed and panelled with lace. Languid ankle-length dresses in skeletal tulle are embroidered with Scottish wild flowers. They are also engineered in a Celtic paisley and feature a fitted sleeve with a puffed shoulder. A tangle of fishnet knits and embroideries constructed from strings of jet is draped into a tunic top and corseted dress with unravelling fringing. The collection becomes increasingly elaborate, culminating in a sequence of romantic tulle dresses etched with sea creatures in black beaded embroidery. The final looks are a pair of shredded tulle dresses with cascading strings of jet beading, depicting a shipwreck scene of crashing waves in silver sequins, engulfed by the call of the sea.

    Don't get me wrong , YES, the clothing are very well executed and very SALEABLE (which what there maybe aiming for) . But as for the McQueen label these clothes aren't dramatic , there is absolutely no story behind this! Sarah keeps bringing these same silhouettes each year and it's getting very BLAH! Im tired of seeing these chiffon gathered and layered dresses also. She's executes the little of details as McQueen, tailoring, craftsmanship, but the feeling of the Label is dying out! I didn't even want to watch but I watched cause its ALEXANDER MCQUEEN!

    Objectively very beautiful but it's what - the third or fourth day of PFW? and we've seen it all already: transparencies (again), corsets (again), flowy fabrics and leather (again), natural waist (again)...do they all sit in a meeting together and decide what they want to see next season and then just go off their merry way and churn out their interpretations of it? Just more of the same in every. single. show...gets so boring!

      +Consrignrant yeah, well, that's a strange excuse for lack of creativity, inspiration and uniqueness. You don't see that happening in the Southern Hemisphere. But perhaps then that's why the Aus and NZ Fashion weeks are all so much more exciting than these.

      Luckily for both those industries, they have over 4 billion people in Asia, South East Asia and Australasia who disagree with you.

    McQueen no more..... As beautiful as this is, the brand has lost its aggressiveness. The daring vision that challenges the audience is completely gone, might as well call this some other brand~ Too bad he's not here to agree with me anymore...

      For some reason I can't figure out, designers love to do the excessive greasy slicked down hair. I've seen it so many times.

    shut the mcqueen house down and sarah can create her own house. this isnt poetic or aggressive or powerful at all. the only good sarah burton for mcqueen shows was her first one.

      Yes, we all know it's not Alexander McQueen. Blah blah blah. This same comment over and over again is becoming tiresome.

    So when a prestigious fashion designer dies another designer still designs under their name??? I know Gianni Versace sister Donatella did this but I thought that's just because they were family. I didn't know that other deceased designers did this??? dont kill me, just curious ...what to know

    no one denies sara burton makes dreamlike garments but....the spectacle, the showmanship, the story telling... so sad it is missing. And what was the runway about... it looked and sounded as a very sad desolate war memorial.

    as much as i know sarah is trying i do not believe this is the true essence of mcqueen. i know the main inspiration was sailing ships but i saw no connection between it until the final look. i dont understand how those patchworked knit lookiny garments tyed into something couture looking evening gowns. moral of the story, there was a big misconnection and tbh was bored. but that last gown that was beautiful.
