    What amazed me the most, apart from K. Ja's high quality and clever play, is his ability to fight on every point and thus catch up every time he was trailing in the set - great fighting spirit and focus.

    • @Ragameiste
      @Ragameiste 5 лет назад +4

      Kanak has one of the best speed variations in the game, plus his backhand is high and always ready to defend. He used to have a shitty forehand, a fundamental flaw in US TT from a decade ago when kids were taught to use side spin to compensate for lack of power. Finally he has headed to better judgment or has developed some muscles.

      Great game...agree on that. Kanak's heritage and antecedents are from northern India....but he is a US citizen. Else he can't really represent the US

    For a while I thought Kanak was from Malaysia who has a similar flag but then I realized he is from US. Wow, it would be amazing that if one day this brilliant young man can stand on the podium. That will mean a great deal for US table tennis.

    Very impressive play by Kanak. He even made Ma Long surprised/unprepared for several of the early points, which is very hard to do. Those backhand down-the-lines were brutal. However, Kanak was caught several times by the change in pace/rhythm from Ma Long, especially on the step-around forehands. The biggest thing, though, is that Ma Long's experience really showed. He predicted a lot of Kanak's plays later on, while Kanak rushed too much on a lot of the points. If he can improve this aspect in future matches, he will rise up even more quickly.

    Ma Long stays Ma Long, learnt and applied in the game itself ... Kanak spilled the beans in first game that his strength to score is "almost solely" to push way out of reach of Ma on mainly forehands ... thereafter, if this match was of a 100 games, the score would 99/1 in favour of Ma ...

    the difference between ma long and everyone else is that most ppl want to finish of a point in style and end up missing. ma long never, never goes for style points. like a machine

    Chinese players always test the opponents in the first game for weaknesses then adapt to demolish them. Something other countries have not been able to do. Super coaching and training.
