For example, let's say has been struggling with Maths & they've been getting E's and D's in their mocks. Getting a C in their GCSE Maths would be a proud moment. But for someone whose aim was to get an A, if that person gets a C it's a whole different story. They would be disappointed, you see it's all in perspective. We all have different aspirations so to say she should be more happy with her results is a bit unfair.

278 Mai this is the comment I was looking for. Everyone has different expectations. For me, personally a C makes me depressed because I usually get A's. However TO someone who gets D's and E's it would be so achieving getting a C! I definitely now this because my own brother has pretty bad grades and when he gets C's he actually feels okay because it's good to him. My sister is also okay but embarassed with C's because she gets B's and As a lot of the time. Everyone has different perspectives on their grades.
If I got a B+ my mum would be yelling at me. (She doesn't abuse me. She is Chinese and expects at least an A. She wants me to get an A+ . ×.× )

It's sooooo worth remarks!!!! My friend got a C in maths and it went up to an A*! It's definitely worth getting the arts and humanity subjects remarked! My geography GCSE went up to an A* last year! You did amazing either way though! Xxx

yeah, I think remarks are especially good when you're certain that your grade isn't right - with your friend, it's almost definite that they messed up marking their papers the first time and did it correctly the second.
tbh its unlikely that they would make that many mistakes in maths..ur friend is really lucky haha

The whole A*/A thing I totally get, it really does sound like you're being ridiculous and ungrateful but as a straight A/A* student driven by a crippling fear of failure who's never got a B I know the feeling of being disappointed for not getting a top grade - hope you got it remarked and your results are great! Be proud!

how would u revise Im gonna do GCSE soon
just start preparing early emotionally and mentally. buy a revision guide for each subject and WORK! all the top set kids will just say they're naturally "smart"... and that couldn't be further from the truth. set a side time for each subject i did stayed back 2 hours for four out of 5 days in school to prepare and i was predicted C's .... so anything is possible if you put your mind to it. No one is born smart apart from people who are naturally gifted and they're 1% of the entire population of the planet. so by putting your mind to it it can become very very easy and take you really far.

I'm so nervous for my GCSEs coz I'm the first year group to get the new levels(1-9) and its 100% exams and I am rubbish in exams coz the pressure always gets to me and were the Guinea pigs so if they decide the levels don't work out well they'll change it so I'm really scared

we will be the first year to start from year 9 meaning we have three years to build up all of the knowledge on the stuff we need to know but year 10 going into year 9 only have two years. so i consider myself sort of lucky and maybe because we're the first year it won't be as hard!

It's refreshing to see a RUclipsr of your age actually do well at their GCSEs and care about their education. I've seen a few of these videos from other, bigger channels and their lackluster attitude is quite worrying. GCSEs are your window into the rest of your life and you have my sincere congratulations on smashing it :).

I am dreading my GCSEs. I'm sh*tting myself. I can't get to grips with revision. I revised two months for a 20 minute exam and I got two marks out of 30 and thats physics. I am predicted A's and A*s and I am certain I won't get any. I can't focus on one thing and maths is awful. I went from 2nd set to 5th (there's 8 sets). I'm that person that has to get the best in everything. it sounds bad but I feel like I've failed if I don't. My school is shit. they really couldn't care less about your future. they say whatever you do after school is nothing to do with them. They only care about your grades so they can get paid. the teachers really don't care. and I do not understand the Numerical Grading system! what is that about? they're telling us to forget A*-E and now learn 1-9. i don't get it. they say never compare them because they're different but then they say a 9 is an A*...like tf. And one maths lesson I tried so hard and got so annoyed that I couldn't work it out that I started crying. I had a panic attack in the mock exam, but the teacher said to me "Well if you can't learn it now. there's no use even trying. You might as well not turn up." That's the attitude of mainly all our teachers. My English and photography teachers are probably the only good ones I have 😕
Do every past paper possible and you'll ace your exams, create a timetable to ensure that you get them all done. Trust me here man do all the motherfuckin past papers. Im studying at uni now, I finished with 3 a's 6b's at GCSE and 2b's and a C at A level. You'll do amazing if you work hard.
Also teachers aren't acting like they don't care, just like Molly's situation where the teacher said you shouldn't study all the sciences they are challenging you to study harder to prove them wrong. Don't give in dig deep and work hard.

GCSE's aren't that stressful I didn't really revise and I got decent results

I got my mock results yesterday and this is what I got
English language: 4
English literature: 2
Maths: 5
Geography: A
German: C
Music: E
Art: E (my art teacher lost all my artist research 😥😡)
Science GCSE which I did in June 2016 (year 10): C
Hoping I will do better in my actual GCSEs
If I get the same results for my actual ones (but get a 5 or higher in English) then I'll be able to get into the college I want to go to

My best friend got a really bad art grade at GCSE and now she's at uni doing Illustration and her art is amazing, so don't be disheartened by the art grade!

The art boundaries were so high, I was told I'd get an A* for two years but then I got my results and I got a B

My GCSE's are mixed, because my science is AQA and my maths and music is Edexcel, I'm taking my GCSE's this year coming I'm so scared because I'm the worst person in my class at English and I got a level 1 in my mock which is terrible and I'm only one group below top set!?!? Set 2

i had to do maths again in college and i failed... AGAIN... i just cant get along with maths at all
I got the same grade as i got last year aswell so i got an E then 2 F's again in maths.

my cousin had to do his English for the 3rd time in college and failed! but only by 1 mark! it is ridiculous
Dont give up and keep trying.. I got an E then I kept getting D's for the next 3 years with only a couple of marks from a c... On my 5th year I got my C! I can do it so can you!

I've literally watched this video about 20 times and I'll never agree more with "success is so relative" because I'll be disappointed if I get a A,and my friends will get mad at me because they got a C or whatever x
I know how you feel about the school setting your targets as A's. I had A* targets for RE and geography and only get B's in the exams, even my teachers were surprised. I'm happy I passed them but I wish they wouldn't have set unrealistic targets if they knew it wouldn't happen. Congrats on your results by the way! I got 2 A's 6 B's and 4 C's but I passed everything and I'm so happy! :)

HELP PLEASE: does anyone know how to work what marks you got? Every Time i try those convertors it says the numbers i enter are too high.

The marks on the results sheets are UMS Marks so if you look online at grade boundaries of UMS Marks for the exam board you did, it's so much easier to see how far you are off the grade above etc.
You'll have to play around with it a bit as it asks for the raw mark and you have the UMS mark. Put in a low number as your mark and see what UMS it is and then increase the number you put in gradually until it is equivalent to the UMS you got and that will be your mark (it's an annoying way to do it, I know :/)

Physics Higher: 25/60 marks which was a C
Chemistry Foundation: 45/60 marks which was a C
Biology Foundation: 50/60 marks which was CAP (no idea what it means but it's the highest you can get on Foundation papers)

Also, I hate art so much. It's so much work for really low grades. It's so hard and you get tricked into it in year 7 and 8. Please, if you're in year 8. Be prepared for art if you're taking it. I regret it so much x

I was told I couldn't take art for my gcse's due to timetable complications so I had to take geography instead,as well as history. At first I was gutted but now I'm okay since hearing everyone's experiences with Art GCSE's.

Personally I really enjoyed art. Collected my results today and got an A*. I would only go for it if you are really into art, as to get a high grade you have to work so hard for it. Good luck with your GCSEs :)

Hello. I got my results this year too, but obviously mine were my year 11 results. I got a D in my Geography exam last year and my target grade was an A*. You'll have a chance to re-sit. I put a lot of effort into Geography last year as well, and I was also disappointed. But, when I re-sat the exam this year I got an A, and I didn't even feel that confident about it. So, if I managed to improve, I'm sure you can as well. Good luck :) x

Wow. I couldn't have explained or described my experience with art and design so well. That was EXACTLY how I felt/feel! My target was an A and I ended up with a D on results day this year, disappointed but all the other A*'s and A's I got made up for it and I ended up not even caring 😂 but I feel now like the subject and curriculum have ruined art all together for me really whereas I used to love art! Shame but to be honest I'm just SO GLAD I have escaped art GCSE and never have to sit through another art lesson in my entire life. JOY. PURE JOY.

+Mallu Banter depends what exam board you are on but in the exam, mine was 10 hours to do a final piece, and you did a coursework project before hand to plan and prepare your final piece xx
