      We found the V11-V12 transition was better than we thought it would be. Some bumps, but it wasn't too bad. Transitioning from EXE to browser is a bit tougher, but it's definitely worth it. Good luck.

    Appreciate this video. I'm curious, would you be able to make a similar video detailing all the new features in version 12? Our clinic is getting upgraded next week and I want to ensure that I'm able to maximize the newest features and functions of version 12. Curiously there doesn't seem to be a video anywhere that provides an overview of all the new features of ecw 12.

    Thank you for this video. If a template has been created in V11, when a practice switches to V12, does that template still exist for use, or does it need to be recreated?

      Upgrading from V11 to V12 and from executable version to browser version should not have any effect on existing templates. They should work exactly the same way.

    Thanks so much for this video. I'm an MA at a busy clinic and basically had to teach myself how to use ECW, and this video helped quite a bit. Quick question - is there any way to quickly print out a batch of orders for a patient? For example, if I quick order a lumbar MRI, physical therapy referral, and a Meloxicam rx, is it possible to quickly print out all the orders I just placed to give to the patient?

    • @EastonJackson-GMC
      @EastonJackson-GMC  7 месяцев назад

      Well, you can't quite do it all in one step. Assuming you have all the meds, labs and orders entered into the progress note, try clicking the "Send" button on the bottom left. This should pop up a window to print/fax/e-scribe the meds. Or, you can click the little arrow next to the send button, and get the menu to e-scribe, print meds and order or fax labs and orders. If you ordered the physical therapy referral as a referral, you can't really print that from anywhere except from the referral window itself.
      eCW is not the most efficient system out there.

    Hello! Very helpful video. But I am wondering if eclinicalworks allows me to do one simple thing: display a list of all the patients added to the resource schedule in order of recency. I work the front desk and the doctors, MAs, and other staff members are constantly adding new patients to the schedule for future appointments. I have to check insurance and do authorizations for all those patients, so most of the time I'm scrambling looking at the resource schedule trying to look and see which patients are new. Is there a way for eclinicalworks to just show a list of all the patients that have been added to the schedule for a given provider, with the date and time they were added? This feels like such an essential feature so I would be surprised if it doesn't exist, I just can't find out how to do it!

    hello! i found this video because my clinic is upgrading to version 12 this week! but after watching your video I have a few questions
    1. is there any way to "favorite"/save a referral (ie, the same way as prescriptions, orders, etc)? I write out a ton of referrals each day and it would be so much easier if I could just select the referral i've already filled out thousands of times, attach it to a patient, and be done with it.
    2. at 22:28 in the video you show how one can type out some notes for the radiologist on the imaging order. is it possible to Favorite an order with the notes already typed out? So that when I select the Favorited order, the notes sections already have my written out instructions? or do i have to type out notes and instructions with every single DI order?
    3. how do i create a new imaging order if one doesn't populate from the list? My doctor wanted me to order something called a "CINE MRI", but it didn't appear in my list of orders and I didn't know how to create one from scratch. i had to have someone else at our practice do the order, but i couldn't see how they did it because i was with patients all day. ty!

    • @EastonJackson-GMC

      1. Well, I haven't found a great way to save referrals. You might be able to do this by saving a progress note template with each of the referrals you commonly use. However, I don't know if it would help you a lot, as each referral might have a lot of patient-specific data in it. But I don't know of any way to save a favorite referral template itself. That would be nice.
      2. I haven't seen an option to pre-populate the radiology order with the notes for the radiologist. The closest option, but more clicks, is to save a favorite progress note template that orders the study you want. Favorite it and then you can pull it in quickly from the right chart panel. However, you'll then still need to click on the order to open the window to show clinical info. If you click the ellipsis (...) button on the top right of the clinical info window, it will open a details window. From there, you can save any number of words, phrases and paragraphs of text and insert them into the clinical info window. Again, I don't know if this actually saves you anything or not.
      3. To create a lab or DI from scratch, you'll need to open the Menu in the left side bar and choose EMR>Labs,DI & Procedures>Diagnostic Imaging. The window that opens shows a "New" box on the right. From here, you can create a new diagnostic imaging order. Same procedure for labs or procedures. If you're just printing or faxing the DI order, you're now good to go. If you have the orders connected to an interface to the radiology provider or department, you'll need to talk with the interface people to have them connect the new order correctly.

    Nice video, but how in the world do I print a prescription to give to a patient as they're leaving? I have all my favorited scripts that the doctor usually orders. Using the "Quick orders" or opening up "Manage Orders" and then "New Rx" seems pointless, because all that seems to do is just add the Rx to the Problem in the Treatment portion of the Progress Note. I can enter all these medications quickly and easily, but they just appear in the progress note and I can't seem to do anything with it. I keep having to go into "New Tele Encounter" on the Patient Hub to print a new prescription, and it's SO slow. Is there really no other way?

    • @EastonJackson-GMC
      @EastonJackson-GMC  7 месяцев назад +1

      You have to add the med to the orders for today (either in the progress note or in a telephone encounter). Once you've added it, you can then print it or e-scribe it. From the progress note, click the little arrow to the right of the Send button or the Print Button on the bottom left. A menu appears and the Print Rx option appears. If you have the treatment window open in the progress note, there is a Send Rx button at the bottom right. If you click this, you'll get the e-scribe window. If you want to print, click the little arrow to the right of the Send Rx button and a menu appears to e-scribe, fax or print.
      Does that help?

      @@EastonJackson-GMC Thank you for the quick reply, I will try this in clinic tomorrow. I think I did try and hit the "Send" button at the bottom of the Progress Note, but it just printed out the progress note with the meds listed at the bottom in the treatment plan (as opposed to the actual scripts that the patient can take to the pharmacy). But I'll try your suggestions tomorrow and hopefully find a way to do it. The employees at my clinic are kind of old school and only do things one way and refuse to change or learn, and they taught me to always go through the "New Tele Encounter" for every single new Rx, but it is just horrifically slow and inefficient. I'll try this tomorrow morning and see if it works.

      @@EastonJackson-GMC Thank you so much for all your help. Everything works great now an I am ordering and printing out all my orders faster than ever. I offered to show some of my co-workers at the clinic but they weren't interested at all in learning something new. Their loss, I suppose. And no, there has never been any formal eCW training at our clinic. We're a small cardiology clinic with one doctor, 5 staff members, and a ton of patients. So we're all overworked, and I've been desperate to streamline my workflow and optimize my efficiency at all costs. So thank you again.
      Unfortunately, the doctor who owns our practice is *extremely* old school and refuses to spend much needed money on his clinic. We are still on eCW 11e and unfortunately won't be upgrading to v12 anytime soon. He's not interested in an upgrade because he doesn't want "things to change", nor does he want to learn or be exposed to new features. He's a brilliant physician....but a not so very good business owner or clinic manager. I tried downloading the eCW v12 web client and plugin libraries on my work laptop to see if I could somehow use it myself....but nope, won't work. At least now I feel like I can use v11e to its max potential, so thanks again.

    • @EastonJackson-GMC
      @EastonJackson-GMC  6 месяцев назад

      Many of us have personally asked the CEO of eClinical works at every user's conference if there was some option for sharing templates. The short answer is, no not really.
      The longer answer is that eclinical works database structure doesn't really allow for this. You could print a template and save it as a PDF and send it to anyone. However, they would have to recreate all of the fields and sections so it doesn't really save you much.
      It does seem like a significant shortcoming

    How do you load three Hydrocodone or Class 2 meds at the same time? Do you have to just put add new script twice? This would make refills easier but cant figure out how you have three loaded. Thanks!

    • @EastonJackson-GMC
      @EastonJackson-GMC  9 месяцев назад

      I think there is an item key that you'll have to ask eCW support to enable. This allows you to order multiple identical meds under the same diagnosis for a patient. Once you've done this, it's much easier to quickly refill three, one-month prescriptions for controlled meds.
      You do have to write an identical order three times. Which is mildly annoying. But once it's in for that patients, refills are easy.
      Now if we could just get eCW to stop gimping the EPCS window and making you recheck your med selections every time you make a date change. It's infuriating and clearly designed by an engineer who has never treated a patient (which might be a nice motto for eCW)

      Depending on your view, it is a little bit different. Ideally, you type in a medicine and see all of your favorites for that med. And then you click the gold star next to the particular favorite and it will pop up a message saying that it will be removed as a favorite.
      But with V12, I've noticed that when some people click the gold star, it doesn't un-favorite that listing. In that case, open the Rx window and click the gold star next to the med search box. This should show your first 20-30 favorites. If you don't see the one you want, scroll down and then click the next or previous buttons next to the search field. They look like greater than and less than signs. In this view, you should have a garbage can to the right of every favorite and you can remove them. Sadly, it's only one at a time. No bulk-deletions.
      Does that help?

If you don't see a green dot on the Dragon bar, it may not be running? I would first begin by uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling Dragon. Then test it out in another application, like Notepad or Microsoft Word to ensure that it's working. Once this is the case, then you should simply be able to click into an eCW window and dictate at the cursor location.
