Anyone else surprised how good leg arm’s singing voice is 😂
Pretty brave to sing that song for a guy
@@rogergoodrich4906 or maybe just insecure if you have to think what you can or cannot sing as a guy..
Hey
Who knew 🦵 arms could sing
I can bet he will hit the high notes lol.
Welker Farms and Cole the Corn Star are the TWO BEST RUclips Channels ...PERIOD!!!!! FYI LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the intro.
Thank you! Glad you love the intro, I've debated changing it due to it being so old but it is iconic to our channel so better keep it!
@@WelkerFarms No way man, it's spot on, heck your channel is worth just watching the intro, it is ICONIC. I live in Detroit and have ALWAYS loved farmers, kind of jealous I never had the opportunity to work on farm. You guys are doing Gods work, praying for your farm everyday. Keep up the great work. Would love to make it out to Montana someday.
Scott and Nick tar the outside of the bin as well. They do make latex bin sealer as well, which is more pliable than tar. Also put crushed rock about inch and a half in diameter, all the way around the concrete base as well, to a depth of 6 inches, so the rodents won't did under the concrete base pad. Yes the family that I work for has 4 60 footers a 40 footer and a couple smaller ones. All just for corn. Beans generally go from field to elevator.
When you go to fill the bin, you actually want to make sure the sweep is sitting over the gates in the floor. Made that mistake last year. If you turn it on the way it is you’ll break a shear bolt immediately. Have to use a grain vac on that bin now until it’s cleaned to the auger..
This is very true. Used to work for a company that built grain bins for co-ops. They had one built we came in and put the floor fans augers and everything on. Got done in a week and they called us back with a the bin full saying the unload augers we stuck and the sweep auger wouldn't go around the bin. They sheared every bolt for the augers and completely twisted the sweep auger
yes! very important
True
If I know Nick he will have a pilot's check list for the bin filling procedure.
Also made that mistake last year. Got lucky and noticed it before the bin had more than a few inches of corn in it
I really like how the one set of stairs has access to both bins. That’ll be handy and make for less trips up and down steps when it’s time to load them.
Drew w yes. A real value add, by using common sense.
Not really, we have that and really hate it. You can't walk up the odd bin and tap on the side to see how full it is. You have to open the lid and real with the dust.
Just add a camera....
We added a camera to our bins like that and we cannot see we are constantly try to clean them so cameras don't work all that well and we even took the stairs off and put a ladder on much safer in the winter for us
Nick, and Legarms a thought for you to chew on.
What about either spreading a driveway of shale or similar (or a concrete one) in line with the auger output area for the coming and goings of your truck's when accessing the bins?
A little prep work now is sure to save a boggy mess in the future
Love the bins, let's hope you need MANY more in the future for all the good crops you are sure to grow!
Tony from Western Australia.
👍
Fun learning the making. Shining beauties.
No more singing from Scott ! Maybe Laura can play her harp in the bin? Congrats on the new storage for the farm. I saw that some said the auger doors are in the wrong place but with the sweep it will work just right. In any "Case" (ha ha) it will be really exciting to see this years harvest and the new bins getting filled.
Hey guys, Cole the cornstar is covering you up with his video machine!!... let’s crank them out Nick and leg arms!
Wow-what a great addition to the farm
You're gonna like that power sweep. I have a Rem vac, but the last two bins I put up, I put in power sweeps. They are great- and none of us are getting any younger..........
The two new bins look fantastic 😃👍👍👏👏
Can wait for video of big bud 747 and LSW 1400
Good planning pays off.
Pretty neat to see how they are built. I do electrical work and we worked on a farm where they had one of these built to add to two others, as well as a new elevator. I was lucky (?? lol) enough to be able to work on the very top of both the new bins and the elevator.
I know it would be a pain but I think Laura’s harp would sound beautiful in the bin thanks Welkers
Coming
Hi welkers, i think those bins should be tagged with welker farms going vertically useing the w in weststeel as the starting point.
Shiny metal, nice. 🤞for a great harvest so you can more than fill them.
Looking good guys with all that storage. I bet you cant wait to use them either.
Those are bins are ripe for a big Welker's Farm logo.
Nice bins guys
We just had a 3 million bushel bin built and 2 2.5 million bushel bin built in April they are massive but a great addition to are other 11 bins that we already had on the farm. The 11 bins we are had total 20 million bushels.
That is impressive!
If you drive a colored stake into the ground next to those 3 phase motors, it will provide a danger marker if snow is blown into the gap between bins for tractor or Bobcat clean-out.
Great you have a good crop hope it keeps getting better
Cut the grates out on the unload sumps. Pea pods like to accumulate on them and may also save you a headache if a chunk of frozen grain comes thru.
Maybe that unloadeder is different but the ones on our bins that size require that the bin sweep be positioned over the side sump gates when the bin is filled. That way it doesn't have as much grain on it when starting the sweep for the first time. The guy that put up our bins said it was better to have that walk in side door near where the unloader auger is located so that way you can still get the door open if the sweep fails to operate as the side sump will remove enough grain. But then again if you have a grain vac like you guys do there is more than one way to unload a bin...😁😁
This video really brought back some memories as a kid in the 70's. About every other year Dad would buy the tar and as soon as we got home from school we were told to go change out of our school clothes , find a piece of lathe and start putting tar around the seam, not only on the inside of the bin, but outside. We had 3 bins for storage. 2- 25,000 bu. and 1-50,000 bushel bin. It was a messy job. You ended up with tar all over you no matter how careful you were. I really miss those days.
move the bin sweep over unload gates so when you start it there isn’t so much weight on it
Like the shirt Nick
Who else remembers the grain piles!! 💪 love the new bins!
Congrats on the new bins! ...accidents do happen Leg' Arms... we won't tell. They won't notice the patch. lol
Congrats on the new bins, they are very nice but they are not finished. Need old Glory flying on top!
Power sweep ! Got one and love it !! Works awesome but trust me you need a shovel before the broom. Stay safe.
Ha! That whole video I was like, "I dont think they have an auger to reach the top of those." Nice plug there at the end Nick. 👍
Is there a grain leg in their future?
Love the duals on the 747
Need to film smashing a champagne bottle on those bins the day you put grain in them.
Congrats on these nice bins. On a side note, on the right hand side bin, the sweep will actually have to go all the way around before you guys will be able to open the access door. I wood move the doors right over the unloading tube. It is nice to open the door and make sure everything is fine before you start that sweep.
Would
One stairs for both bins is a great idea. Saved some 💰
Nice to watch it get build! Thnx
I do think you need a third bin. And while you are at it add in a grain leg and a drive over pit. Then add in some more bins.
Thanks for the song Leg-Arms
You need to come from a farming background to appreciate the excitement one gets this type of improvement and efficiency. I get it and I'm happy for you. God is good. 👍
Nice bins. Good job guys.
Would love to see a camera or cameras on top of the new bins for view to the horizon shots, the view was amazing! I think the drone shots now are just beautiful, it's not always convenient to stop and use it and a remote could just run. I live on the Oregon coast and we sand on the bluffs and look out to the edge of the world on the ocean and I get the same feeling when I see those shots from you folks! I really enjoy your channel, thanks for sharing with us!!
I liked Hollywood’s shirt. I hope Zach returns the favor soon.
I'm a new subscriber. I just came over from Cole the Cornstar. Looking forward to watching your content. Best wishes.
Awesome! Thanks
I did some math. there are over 8,000 nuts and bolts on these 2 bins.
best I can tell there is 10 sheets per ring and 56 bolts per sheet,
so that's 560 nuts and bolts per ring times 7 rings or 3920 nuts and bolts per bin not including all the trimmings.
Those new bins are mighty impressive and they could qualify as “agricultural art”.
Once again it is so awesome to see how all of you work as a family and are so down to earth in your sharing of your family’s farm and family’s life! I just so enjoy watching and learning more about running a farm. I hope and pray that you have continued success and may Gods riches blessing be upon all of you as you continue to grow your family’s and your farm. Thank you for sharing with me. One of your biggest fan’s. 🎶😎🙏🙏
Who would have thought that finger painting would have paid off.
Very nice bins guys! God bless!
Wow
Great bins.
Loved watching all the steps you went through to have them installed.
Really enjoy watching all your videos on here.
I wish all of your family continued success and happiness and health.
Keep up the great work.
those bins look so massive now that they are up! was NOT expecting that!
I am watching you a lot of time, you have a lot of work
Awesome bins woohoo and nice shirt Hollywood 👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯 God bless 🙏
Your singing voice is very good man ...
Great video LegArms
Wow your wheat grows so fast we were planting our wheat in southern Australia before you guys did and it’s not even at the flagging stage yet!
We put those unloading augers of to the side because Legarms has a tendency to run into things.
Legarms. I have to say that you did an exceptional job narrating and presenting on this video. Well done, brother. Always love watching the Welker boys' adventures. God bless y'all always!
Nice lookin bins.
Think your gonna find out that your access doors should have been next to your load out augers. That way the sumps get the grain away from door and you can access bin when you start sweep and cleaning out.
Yep yep they're going to have to have that really low before they can get in the front door there with the sumps not matching up the door
By really low you mean lots of shoveling!! Good thing they have a grain vac they are going to need it!
Saw that too
Yeah for sure
Saw that as well, I am surprised the bin builder didn't put them in the correct location, or at least make a point of it when the Welkers may have suggested the current location????
Great to see those bins and the added flexibility they give you. Enjoy and celebrate.
Make sure that you put the power sweeps over the side traps before you fill them up
Hey Bob, if you are wondering where the boys are, look in the new grain bins. They'll be in there with funny looks on their faces just looking around at all that shiny metal! I like the stairway and that it goes to the top of either bin. Nice touch. Good luck with the new bins, they are going to be time savers like nothing else on the farm. Well...other than the Big Buds!
Our local ethanol plant is putting up a 2 million bushel bin instead of doing a pile like other plants do.
I sure wish you all would put out more then two videos a week. So enjoy watching them.
I absolutely love the drone shots coming in across the wheat field to the bins!!! Thank you guys so much for taking us along this project. I've been in many grain bins, but had never seen one put up until now. I really appreciate it!!!
Imagine this job before cordless tools!!
Air tools
Built a bunch in the ‘70s. Black and Decker 1/2” electric impact wrench and very good hearing protection. Efficient,
,
,
I used to build Harvestore silos, electric impact, dragging the cord along as you work.
Air tools or a generator. Sure, you have to deal with the air or power lines, but your batteries didn't run out of power either.
Scott you really needed Nick to sing the weemawop a weemawop part of the song with you .
Smart thinking on the positioning of the augers. I thought maybe you were also going to say that you can run them together and then get one massive auger and fill a semi in about the time it takes your dog to either jump in or out of your truck!
This is what i was talking about a few episodes ago. False floor bins are the jam. So happy you guys got these in your inventory, you're going to love them. One piece of advice, make sure to keep them very clean between uses, cleanliness is next to Godliness when it comes to these systems and it's not just fungus or other things, but pests too. May you use them for years to come.
Time to add a couple of flags to the top of the new bins
If I might, a suggestion: pour a small pad for a step under the steps going up the side of the bin. It doesn't need to be more than the size of a tread on the ladder (maybe a bit larger, but not so much that you have to walk another step to get off it on your way down). Make the top of the pad the same distance lower than the last step as the steps are apart on the ladder -- even if that gives you a much smaller step down to the ground. You won't mind the smaller step down, but just remember "That last step is a Dilly/Douzie" if it is as much different from what the stair tread spacing as it looks now.
Ag electrician here, however you decide to feed these bins, plan for the future. Either bring out 2x more than you think you need or prep extra conduits in the ground for future. Had to go back and upgrade a lot of farm operations after only a few years because they didn’t anticipate expansion. Good looking bins!
Underground line this fall
Leg Arms and Nick you guys are awesome. The way you put together a video keeps people interested and always ready for the next time. So glad the better improvements are being made for the farm. You guys deserve it. Be safe my friends and hope Mr Welker is doing great
I am, working on getting pool ready for grandkids
@@RobertWelkerFarmerBob yes sir
Twin Bins! I know you guys were in desperate need of extra storage bins. God bless!
Right on guyzz. New Bins look great out on farm. Happy to hear crops looking good out your way! Have good 1 and see ya on next 1 nick
Great your finally getting some working space for grain. very enjoyable seeing what your doing there. Good luck with making a profit. A couple suggestions and observation of a mistake when the bin was erected. Before you fill the bins each year place the sweep just to the right side of the draw off ( as you look at the center from the wall) so they drain the grain from under the sweep. it will start much easier and give less problems in the long run. Place a grain spreader in the top of the bin to fill the bin level and spread any fines through the bin. the fines is block the air and that is where any spoilage takes place and it would block your center draw off hole, also when we use a spreader we get over 1000 bushel more corn in 30,00 bu bin than when it is not used. The mistake is the entrance doors in the wrong place. They should be right beside the unload augur so the door can be opened when you start the sweep. mush easier access to clean the bin between loads. it is a pain if you have to climb up and down the inside ladder when there is a problem. harder to get things into the bin to work on anything before the bin is empty. You can get an enclosed augur boot ends that the unload augur will feed into with out using a hopper. they reduce spillage because the augur does not throw grain out when flow is slow. and are easier to cover each night while unloading the bin. Finally get a frequency drive for the unload augurs, start at a slow speed and build up speed, the motor has the same amount of power at the slow speed as it does at the high speed but the load is easier because you slowly start moving the grain. again less stress and likely hood of breaking things.
Waiting for the drone fly through on the new bins.
Congrats on the new storage.
It is nice that they got them close together for the ladder to fit both bins ! ! Need to put a cross auger to both , then set one main.
Greetings from Dawson County, Montana!! :-)
Grain bin building was always an exciting time on my farm. HECK! Anything NEW on the farm was exciting. Anyway, we went with Butler brand bins 24' diameter and 15' high at the eve. Around 6,000 bushels We wound up with four of these "monsters" (to us anyway) and we were livin' high on the hog for a time. The 1st 2 were put up in the mid-1970's when wheat got to $5/bushel and the other 2 when I switched to a continuous cropping system and effectively doubled my crop acres. We put up all 4 bins ourselves and it great! On the negative side, those sheets of corrugated tin got white hot sitting in the sun waiting to be used. We put augers under the cement floor and this allowed us to greatly reduce our time in the bins when unloading. Scott, I used tar for many years on the bottoms of the bins but weren't very leak proof. I switched to a flexible product that came in 5 gallon buckets that you put on the OUTSIDE of the bin bottoms. I applied an additional coat of sun-resistant product to protect the flexible coat for a leak-proof bin that lasted for many years. The cost wasn't too terrible when considering the outcome. Hey Nick and Scott! Thank you for sharing your adventures of new bins! I hope you still don't have enough storage capacity for your crops this year. Take care...and be safe.
bins loking great crops looking fantastic great stuff folks
17:13 😅🤣🤣 that would happen to me if I owned a farm. When harvesting pulling up to that bin with the auger and then ahhh nooo... we have a problem.
Your videos are amazing keep up the good work
Same
What about lightning rods also remember to use the safety harness going in and out of those bins lot of people have died in the grain bins always walk close to the wall take care and God bless
Great video Leg Arms.... Nice of Nick to show up when the work was done 😁😁...lol 🤣🤣
Great video Welker Farms. 👍👍. Really like the new bins. Just be careful when your inside those bins with the sweep running. Heard a few stories where guys weren't paying attention, and ended up having a very bad day.
Now imagine a central loading/unloading pit and tower, with another pair of bins on the other side of the road. That would be a sweet setup
Nice Shirt Nick! Love seeing my state on you! Awesome seeing ya supporting the MN Millennial Farmer!
The fields are very lush looking from the top of the new bins I hope they are as profitable as they look 👀!!!!
Very impressive assembly team on these bins 💪💪
Thanks legarms I've always wondered if the one screw left over from projects was multiplied for the size of the project
Congrats!! Your Good People and You Deserve it!
Nick Leg Arms and your dad need to consider a grain elevator with an in ground dump for unloading grain curious to see how you fill these bins when harvest season starts be sure to make lots of videos big fan of yours
Awesome bins... now nick has to put flags on them
Most bins have the unload tube is near the door. After intermedates have been opened during grain removal and grain removed the door will open easily.
They should have had the doors moved closer to where the take out auger is. They will find out that this is gonna be an issue when emptying the bin as the side takeouts most likely will not get the grain down low enough to open the door. As a side note also they better put that drag closer to the secondary takeouts or they gonna be doing some shoveling to unbury it. That is after they burn the belts off. This is a mistake my family also did 30 years ago when building our bins and we have had to deal with it ever since.
We have our sweep set/stop set up just behind the shoot openings so it's clear and can start easy. Plus I agree the door should be closer to the auger but still nice bins
Doors should of been closer to the unload
Yes that’s going to be a nightmare for them . We own many bins like this and never seen a set up like that so far away from the door . Good thing they have the ladder on the inside , they will need it . I normally crawl in the bin and shovel some grain away from the drag before starting .
The more bins I’ve emptied this week, this will not work ! This needs to be fixed , you will not be able to access ur bins tell almost empty
Those bins look amazing! I'm glad to hear that the crops are doing well. May you be blessed with an abundant crop this year! :)
awesome shirt Nick!
I am happy for you guys. I never had anything close to that when we farmed. Bin cleaning was just above rock picking from the last thing i wanted to do when I was a teenager. Enjoy.
I can't wait to see them get out to use and filled and emptied!
