00:07:30 "No one could make that shot"? 1,000 yards? A quick Google search will reveal that there are many confirmed kills over 1,000 yards, some while rare, even exceeding 2,500 yards. Carlos Hathcock (RIP) took his confirmed 2,500 yard shot back in 1967 in Vietnam. Rifles, range finders, ammunition, optics, external ballistics calculations have steadily improved in their accuracy over the decades since. There are groups of civilians and vets who regularly shoot in excess of 1,500 yards. Anyway, I really enjoy your videos, and wish you continued success with them.
a 1000 yard shot isn't too tough a feat if you know how tog guage the shot. Especially if you're on a range, using a rifle and ammo you know. Making that shot in combat, however, is another story.
And by a Canadian Spec Ops Sniper at that. All he had to do was wiki "longest recorded sniper kills" and there's a whole damn list, including a few from the 1800's.
Regarding the scene where he is active right after being shocked: having been electrocuted, I was not tired afterward, and that was 110 volts. Furthermore when a taser is used to gain compliance the suspect can become active and dangerous immediately after the voltage from the taser stops if the pain does not motivate compliance. Muscle lock tends to only occur during the application of voltage and very shortly thereafter.
Two seconds of googling, and i found a list of the ten longest range confirmed sniper kills OVER 1250 meters. Apparently shitloads of people can make that shot.
Yeah, but most of them came more than a decade after this movie was made, and with advanced technology weapons that weren't around (or at least readily accessible) in 87. Certainly not with the rifle in the movie. Barrett .50 or a Lapua round, yeah. And 'shitloads' is a hell of a stretch. But yeah, there's a good few that can and have. Back then? Very, very few.
@@109reaper Again, very very few. Out of 7 billion, a couple hundred cannot in any rational discussion be construed as 'a shitload.' Believe it or not, I’ve only really seen the first one. I’ve seen bits and pieces of some of the sequels (some on network TV so you know edited), but from what I’ve gathered they start adding in a whole bunch of other characters and honestly I’m just here for Riggs and Murtaugh.
I'd have added 50 sins for the deleted scene that would have originally introduced Riggs at the school. It's way better than the intro scene that ended up in the movie, and has probably the best combat reload ever filmed.
The one thing that's bothered me about this movie since I was a kid is the way Riggs and suicide guy join hands when they're jumping off the ledge. Still a classic though.
They have. I preferred the old format: a few minute video pointing out actual errors with a few jokes peppered in. Now they're mostly based on personal opinions and bad jokes with a handful of actual sins (that are often false).
@@MatiZ815 So why do you watch them then? I feel like the videos are way funnier now. You're not supposed to take them so serious. I mean how many times does cinemasins have to say that THEY'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY!

2:04 - considering suicidal statistics of Christmas (slightly mentioned by Riggs in the movie btw) it has everything to do with the story. Also this "random sh*t" along with other "random sh*t"s like this lets us feel the contrast between Riggs's forelimbs and thoughts and the rest of normal-life world that surrounds him and doesn't have second thoughts throwing it into his face (even by accident).
He is sinning the man, not the artist. Mel Gibson is a great actor and film-maker but he went on a drunken, bigoted rant saying how he hates Jews. It's a similar problem with Kevin Spacey. Incredibly gifted actor but there are multiple reports of sexual assault and misconduct perpetrated by him. There is an interesting vid by Lindsay Ellis that talks about the concept of Death of the Author - Where the artwork stands on it's own merits without influence of it's creator and his/her misdeeds. Like can you enjoy the song "I Believe I Can Fly" without feeling like you are condoning R. Kelly's predation against underage girls? Can you commend the brillance of Thomas Jefferson writing The Declaration of Independence while knowing he fathered children on his slaves and let them grow up as slaves? Freaking brutal.
I think that Glover's character is supposed to be older than Glover himself, being in his 50s hence why he's written as though he's older. I always felt this movie works better as a show due to Riggs and Murtaugh's dynamic and the music choice throughout the films.
Wait this isn't a childish cartoon movie or crappy movie from the 00's. Anyone else notice the removal of a sin is the Ding in reverse? DING... DING... GNID...!

Hitting a human sized target at 1000 yds with the right rifle and cartridge is perfectly possible, I do it myself. Videos on RUclips of "Mark and Sam after work" hitting a 2ft square steel target at over 2,000 yards (let alone 1,000) with a .300 WinMag, which is a high powered but commonly used sniper round. The real sinnable firearms scene in this movie is how badly he flinches with his pistol at the range. Any competent shooter or operator wouldn't do that so badly with just a 9mm.

It gets old. Pretty, silly in 2020, but Gibson, & Glover are still great in this.
I know. And this first one of the series shows Riggs at his craziest, he regains SOME mental stability in the sequels (notice I emphasized SOME). It's noteworthy how 2 seconds after his raging to Murtaugh about how he often wants to kill himself, he says "I'm hungry, let's get something to eat", you'd expect someone right after a suicidal freakout that eating is the last thing he'd be thinking about. Almost casually mentioning eating can only show how habitually suicidal he is, how it's almost become a daily ritual of his

Here you go
cliche - a phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought.
@@_JPG_ so was the phrase a cliche in the movie? Because if it was the first time that phrase was used then how was it overused? Just saying I can use semantics too.
@@Master_Yoda1990 Your original comment was semantics. All I did was post the definition of the word you used.
The phrase is used multiple times throughout the movie, making it a cliche.

I love that you added five sins just for Mel Gibson's performance
Ehh, he sins BAD acting and than sins GOOD acting. I know we're reaching for sins but it gets tiresome after awhile.
