Hi Bob, Bill Blacks Combo - Little Queenie, the one to look out for on Hi out of Memphis, synonymous with Willie Mitchell. Noticed you flicked past The Mighty Marvellos on a ABC reissue I Do, produced and arranged by the Legend Chicago man Johnny Pate who celebrates his 101 birthday this December. Anything with Johnny Pate on the ABC label is worth looking out for. The flip on the Edwin Starr 45 War, is a good northern Dancer - He who picks a rose on Gordy.
It looked a little rough, but that "Get Aboard the Soul Train" by Dorothy Norwood on the yellow GRC label looked interesting. Probably worth picking up for a buck.
I put a link to an interesting article I read about the last record you featured as “gem of the week”. It was deleted. Oh well, now I know, no links…. I wanted to apologise I thought the featured record had Johnny Winter on guitar, it didn’t, although the record label was closely associated with both Johnny and Edgar Winter. It was in fact a guy called Homer Simons (not Simpson). Thought it was a cool swamp rock single, you did well Bob to trust your instincts and just pick it up. Cheers.
@@recordsandculture cool. Thanks for linking ( I didn’t delete it lol) ya sometime you go by “feel” if that makes sense! Thanks as always for your input - gotta go, finishing edits on this weeks post and off to RPM Records w my new Alphabetical Northern Soul Top 500 list! 🎶✌️👍🏻😎

Hey Bob
you wonder what kind of party some of those records were spun at back in the day! Thumbs up! Trish
