Another nice reaction. Your interpretation of the lyrics is correct. This is a very old Rammstein song. For the concert in Dresden I waited 4 hours in the tickets page on the internet. The line collapsed immediately after sales began. But the patience has paid off. Before the concert, the stadium was cleared due to a storm. But then it could take place and it was brilliant.

Flake and Till are best friends. They then spend their time in the hut of Till in Mecklenburg. Flake comes with the whole family and Till his children and his grandson are there. The whole thing is a game on stage. Of course, Flake is a member of the band. All 6 members of the band sit on the board of Rammstein GbR and are all entitled to vote. If someone says no, it is not done. That's why it always takes a long time for a new record to come out.
Without Flake there would be no Rammstein and yes all their friendships are so wholesome
This was from their second album (the one that has Du Hast, Buck Dich and Engel). It's basically just about desire. The song is mainly just sexual metaphors. The lyrics you got were actually quite good. It's just Rammstein's way of writing that makes it seem difficult to understand but the theme of the song is just desire and desire that isn't fulfilled is painful. Glad you enjoyed!

Another one of my favorites is "Heirate Mich" and particularly this performance from 1998: ruclips.net/video/UImiGifUYT4/видео.html. It features younger Rammstein and a very creepy song. Till's performance and vocals are incredible.

Nice reaction :) Big bird and hideout is actually a reference to the bird ostrich which buries its head to the sand and thinks that just because it doesn't see anything, it also doesn't seen by anything. And in the song the man escapes from all the things going on in his life by longing. When he buries his head between the legs he forgets anyting yet the problems are still there. But he came to a satisfaction so no longer he can escape or hide. Hence 'there is no more sand'. Its quite poetic I think.

I understand what you're saying, I kind of hope we get some good quality videos of the 2019 tour soon. All of the videos on YT rn are shot by fans. If you're listening to the songs the first time you don't get a good idea what they really sound like.

The lyrics, "Between your long legs, I search for the sand from last year" can mean that he searches for the joy from long ago, maybe he wants to get back together with an old lover ("But there is no sand left"). The chorus ends with "Sehnsucht ist so grausam," which means "Longing is so horrible." >>

@@JimGames ok mine definitely sounds and looks a hell of a lot better...you really need to check this performance of Sehnsucht ❤️😊 it's like I say just because a video pops up first or has more does not always make it better... sometime you need to dig s little deeper and put forth effort instead of just going with the first video you see.😊♥️

The translations to Rammstein songs are often hard to get right...he almost always intentionally writes lyrics with 2 meanings and a lot of subtext and online translations are generally literal translations. He also tends to use words that can be emphasized differently to create different meaning, so what’s listed in the lyrics may not always be what he actually sings. He’s very clever and even if you speak German (I took it in h.s.) you may need to hear a song 30 times and write it down what he actually says to get an idea what he is singing.

I am german but I cannot help you at all. The words for me are as mysterious as they are for you. You just can hear he is suffering. Till grew up in communist eat Germany and they were not allowed to leave the iron curtain, perhaps it is the feeling of an east German?

They weren't allowed to even have instruments or play music that wasn't state approved. They played underground at huge risk. Walls & oppression sucks! Rammstein is pretty left wing because of their experience.

The German Z is more like the sharp TS in English (e.g. tsunami, tsar). And the few Latin-derived loanwords in German starting with V (e.g. Vase, Visum, Vandalismus etc.) are pronounced with the V like in English (or the W in German). But otherwise helpful pointers. The English pronunciation of "Sehnsucht" I would transcribe as "ZANE-ZUCHT" (it's a long German E in front of the H after all). Cheers!

@@JimGames Another trap is "IE" vs "EI" by the way. In German they are always pronounced like the second letter as a standalone in English ("EE" vs "AYE"). Or, as another memory hook, sound out "Einstein's Niece" (alternatively "Rammstein's Piece" lol) in your head. Finally, all German words starting with SP or ST are actually pronounced as if they started with SHP and SHT, respectively (e.g. Spiel = SHPEEL, Stein = SHTINE). Hope that helps. :)

I am german and sadly have to tell you, that even for the german most of Tills lyrics make no sense at all. I hear that song for 25 years now, but I still do not understand. I still think it is about the desire to travel but then, the missing sand between her (or his) legs makes no sense.
In my opinion, Ohne Dich ist the most misunderstood song. Most people think it is a love song, but for me, it is about his wife, that he murdered.
Till had to convince Flake to join the band. Because without Flakes keyboard sounds Rammstein would not be possible.
