It's a horrible place to be when you are searching for a fault like that but the feeling when you eventually find it makes it all worth it. Well done Rob.
Hats off to you Rob on finding those chewed off wires! I think you might be a great addition to a crime scene investigation looking for a human hair in a field of hay - just brilliant!
I do love how Chris makes pulling these dents and damaged areas look so simple but im sure it takes years of experience and the correct equipment. Well done Rob in finding those damaged wires. Dont see this one taking too long. Keep up the great content and I look forward to following along for part 2.
the joy of fixing the problem is bigger than the disappointment of finding out it had one!! Rob, you have to get up very early to pull the wool over Chris's eyes i think he had sussed you were up to something but he was well chuffed with your handy work 👍
Love your tenacity Rob sussing that one out. Definitely a Professor Gadget moment, the look of glee on your face 😃 Chris straight into action on the jig sorting the crash site at the rear of the vehicle. This will be a classy motor for somebody 👍🇬🇧😎😮
Well done Rob finding those broken wires, why do people worry that you are repairing these cars incorrectly one thing your not is cut and stitch merchants like we had in the 60s and 70s. Hope your luck keeps going.
Why arent you on tv , ive just watched you both for 15 hours brilliant entertainment, 2 working class blokes , honest, articulate and so koswnledgible , im made up.
As an electrician of over 40 years I know how you feel fault finding and that satisfaction of fixing it . Well done for sticking at it Rob. You made me smile out loud lol. 😂😂
Love how Rob got so excited to find the fault and wanted to get it fixed before Chris return. You guys are like brothers, Love it how you both support each other. This channel in my view probably is the best salvage rebuild Vlogs on You Tube. You know what your watching is just genuine info and no bull. Great work guys, looking forward to the number crunching.😁😁😁😁
Hi Rob my wife’s 10th generation had soy based insulation on the engine wiring harness they chewed the coil pack wiring an auto electrician told me to spray water mixed with peppermint oil around the engine bay the critters hate peppermint oil all the best Les👍👍👍
It was sooo good to see Chris's face when it fired up. Brought a smile to my face too. Great to see the pulling, I bet there are people out there who would have then just put a bumper and tailgate on a sold it on.
Rob,fair dues to you.I was all excited and waiting with hope that it fixed it too.Your delight of it starting had me smiling and feeling chuffed for ye both.
What a result and what a reaction Rob, you knew you had just saved yourself a major headache of testing individual wires. Now for Chris to work his magic. Crack on guys 👍
LIN communication is similar to canbus but single wire… it’s used for non important things; but its master and slave… the master unit asks for info; the slave responds on the same wire. But because it’s single wire you have an issue at one module or connection, you get faults galore! Had a similar issue with a bmw m5 with water pump issues as it uses LIN for them also. Good spot! I recon it was probably the brake pedal switch that cause the ignition to not come on properly though, as you need the brake pedal to start.
Well done Repairing the wiring down in the footwell its giving me cramp just watching it. When wiring in the future it’s well worth getting some fabric loom tape, just looks a bit tidier and doesn’t squeak
So many times been in that position looking for an issue. The joy is immense when you finally find the cause. On a side note. I strongly advise a safety strap when pulling with the dozer. Great video
Well chuffed for ya mate 👍glad to hear Chris free from his cold and is back to robot mode bloke is like a machine 😂 great team guys love all your videos thanks
Superb problem-solving, Rob, nice to see you fix it and give Chris a pleasant surprise. Chris's work on the puller really worked a treat, as you say the back is looking in really good order. 👍👍👍
Great work Rob, huge relief when you find and resolve the issue, especially when it comes to electrics! Now for the metalwork maestro Chris to turn it round.
Oh, the joys of Rat Urine. Not many people have the pleasure of coming so close to that experience. Haven't ever seen you quite as happy as this before. Great work, and Great Video, Rob.
Chris is one cool customer! I can see it now "Hi Chris you have won £5 million on the lottery" Chris would give a wry grin and say " that's nice we thought that would happen."
Maybe a coincidence, but as a Pest Control Manager, it's interesting to note that the rats had an interest in chewing the blue wires, which is one of the regular colours that the majority of baits come in.
Hello Rob and Chris (hope Chris is feeling better?) What a great result Rob after your searching the wiring. So good to get Chris to start up the engine, priceless!! Best wishes from Lincolnshire!!
Rats are a bugger. I live rural Scotland and they eat my washer fluid lines on my truck; they're attracted to the heat from the engine bay in the winter. I made a sheet metal box that is wheeled over the front on the truck, and slides underneath. Acting as a cage of sorts to stop them getting in the engine bay. Not perfect, but it works...for now.
Hi Guys just wanted to say well done for sorting the bmw out I new it would be simple it’s just finding it being an ex beater and now semi retired and a VDA it’s lovely to see a car on a jig we just don’t to it anymore plus not many people today know how to use a jig I have access to methods if you ever need any help keep up the great work Simon
Well done Rob, great work from the both of you, can’t wait for the next video, great content and nice to see that big grin on your face when you had solved the starting issue.
Rats and mice, love plastic wires --- its the plasticizer to make it flexible. Same in sheet plastic sheet material -- does not do them much good but they cant resist the stuff. Need to get all that carpet and seats Steam Cleaned
Incredible really. I am very happy for you, tremendous patience and strength of character. Well done. I hope you do really well out of this one, very very interesting as always. Thank you for sharing.
The rewards of persevering through challenges are numerous. When we persist through difficulties, we develop resilience, strengthen our character, and ultimately achieve success. So, the next time you encounter a challenge, remember the rewards that await you and keep persevering.
I have to say Rob, I found myself getting as excited as you with that wiring and I even punched the air when it started - well done Sir, well done!! You've actually inspired me to now get my E60 back from the garage that's ignored it for a year and fix its crank, no start fault myself (before anyone asks, I'm an electronics engineer by trade).
FANTASTIC RESULT ! Your perceverance paid off ! Pranking Chris was a nice touch! Rats are a real pain - I was offerred car storage on a farm some years ago, and declined, due to the worry of rats chewing the electrics. In mountainous parts of France they have a beastie called the Stone Martin. THEY make rats look like wimps, and literally destroy anything electric in a car.
Rob, you're always singing Chris's praises.... Well take a bow yourself..Well done indeed 👌
It's a horrible place to be when you are searching for a fault like that but the feeling when you eventually find it makes it all worth it. Well done Rob.

Hi Rob my wife’s 10th generation had soy based insulation on the engine wiring harness they chewed the coil pack wiring an auto electrician told me to spray water mixed with peppermint oil around the engine bay the critters hate peppermint oil all the best Les👍👍👍
I'm going to try that - thanks.

I was excited for you Rob, genuinely seeing your happiness when it started, love the surprise.
It was sooo good to see Chris's face when it fired up. Brought a smile to my face too. Great to see the pulling, I bet there are people out there who would have then just put a bumper and tailgate on a sold it on.

Now for Chris to work his magic.
Crack on guys 👍
It shows how well you two work together. I hope you never fall out.
Well done for persevering, we all feel your joy. Forgive us but our household have nicknamed this car the Ratmobile.

Great satisfaction tracking down and solving that problem yourself and not having to call someone else in.
