Hello, I love the work you make, but in this case you made a "mistake". The calorie restriction doesn't acts by slower metabolism. This occurs by activating molecular pathways of repair and detoxication. The oxidative damage theory of aging is a misunderstand of the real role of free radicals. The investigations of Sigfried Hekimi and collegues since the 2009 demonstrates that mitochondria derived free radicals are good for health, and doesn't act by hormesis. As you show, many studies support the CR as aging preventive, but the mechanism behind is a propagated misundersand around the world and is the error in this video. The same or similar effects of CR can be reached by fasting, as the same molecular mechanisms are involved (Sirt3, mTORC1, AMPK, Keap1/Nfr2). Please, consider to correct this. These misundertandings doesn't help science to be objective.
@@ParesdeBases sounds brilliant, thank you. Now, does this relate to why MCT oil and CBD oil work on some versions of alzheimers, parkinson and epilepsy?
With a WFPD, and eating the DD, I worry not a whit about calories. I’m a lean, mean, walking machine. Walked the 485-mile Colorado Trail this summer, age 72, feeling very fortunate to hang out with the movers and doers of the world, most in their 20s and 30s. As always, thank you Dr. Greger for your information, inspiration, and leadership.
⭐️ I started eating a good salad before I ordered any fast food or ate processed food. Slowly, I reduced the size of those meals and became hungrier for veggies and fruit over the course of 4 weeks. Now I'm actually cooking 2 to 3 times per day instead of 0 or 1 and I'm craving the veggies! Soda is tough, but I'm reducing it the best I can. Sugar in my coffee is next. Gotta find a nice flavored drink I like (I'm a drink lover) that is wfpb like most of what I eat now :) All I know is over the course of this past month I've become happier, more energetic, I have less inflammation, my focus and memory are better, and I can breathe better. I don't even want much of the processed stuff now but even when I do I can have a little. But, binge eating is something I gotta watch out for so I do try to keep that stuff out of the house and just binge on my huge salads LOL!
Islam also teaches us to mentally divide our stomach into three parts when we eat.. One part=food, one part=water. One part=air!!!.. Basically not eat too full volume of your stomach. Amazing isn't it??
A good buffet has everything for junk food junkies and well as health food nuts. A good buffet leaves it up to the person doing the choosing. You can be a junk food junkie or a health food nut. I ate at the Souplantation today which included a great salad and great vegetarian and vegan soups.
This might be slightly off topic, but I have MS and have found that eating small meals and restricting actually make my feel so much better during the day. I end up being less symptomatic and more energenic. Maybe this had something to do with how the body reacts to calorie restriction.
Were the participants eating the standard American diet? If so reduced oxidative stress may just be because of reduced junk food intake. Would love to see a study like this done on wfpb eaters.
This is in fact the case, and when compared to wfpb eaters there was no benefit to calorie restriction. In other words, do no calorie restrict, just eat well. Comparing a tortoise to a hare is very problematic. They are different species for a start! Tortoises are not even mammals!
@@LordOfDhara Greger should be more comprehensive when putting it information like this. His conclusion is to be a calorie restricted and live a miserable life with no fitness or athletic performance, a lot of people listen to this guy religiously and he gets a lot right but he's just a dude.
Here's my thing: I eat when I'm hungry. Not when I want to eat, not when my stomach is empty, but when I'm hungry. It goes like this: I eat a bunch of calories in the morning, the majority of my day's worth. Then I go to work. I don't stop working (or running errands or what have you) until I feel this driving force in my belly that interrupts my focus and says (via a feeling) something like 'Ooh, hey there man, it's time to eat. Whatever this is, isn't as important as food anymore.' This feeling will naturally go away and fade to comfortability if I allow it, and I can take my fast pretty deeply depending on how excellent my health is at the time or how far I would like to take it. For the sake of normal circumstances, when I feel that compelling sort of gnawing ache in the stomach that drives me to decide to eat, I go ahead and prepare more food. I try not to snack or add calories in between meals in order to cleanse the system and keep it fresh (try it). When I feel tiny hunger urges that aren't very compelling, I acknowledge them and move on. My body will interrupt me if I'm truly hungry for a meal. This is based on synthesis of all information I've come across thusfar, much of it in alignment with yoga/ayurveda.
@@vitaminb4869 The point is that my body knows when it's hungry, not the clock. I wouldn't be any more likely to schedule eating as I would be to schedule peeing or pooping. My body let's me know when it's time, I don't have to plan it out 👌💯
@@ParadymShiftVegan you're not planning it out, but you will still end up eating the same amount of times during the day. If you ate in the morning, you will get hungry later in the day. There is no way around it. As if you ever gonna go for days without eating just because your body all of a sudden doesn't feel hungry for a few days. Don't be ridiculous.
@@vitaminb4869 I never implied anything about going for days without eating. I'm not sure why you seem to have that impression? My meals are usually spaced around 5-8 hrs in between since you're so interested. However, I've had varying fluctuations based on different health scenarios. Exemplis gratis increasing physical/mental output and finding greater requirements (or the other way around), illnesses, having been at varying stages of health and fitness development, and sometimes just various life things from circadian rhythm upsets to high levels of stress to time constraints, etc. The point is: I'm not going to deny my body food when it's hungry and time to eat, nor am I going to eat when I don't feel compelled to. It's not something I calendar in like a meeting lol. "Ahh man, I would totally eat right now, but my meal isn't scheduled for another hour or two" :(
@@ParadymShiftVegan My point was to illustrate that you will not eat less by eating when you're hungry. If anything, you will eat more and more and more. The more frequently you eat, the more frequently you will feel hungry. Going just by hunger alone is a poor way of eating, but a great way to get fat. "Ahh man, I'll just eat as soon as I feel hungry, because I'm so smart I figured out the right way to eat to stay in shape... all those fatties keep eating on schedule and keep getting fatter"
I've always wondered whether the calorie restriction = longevity argument is a reason to be cautions with exercising too much, especially since oxidative stress (also caused by exercise) seems to be a causal factor.
I do not like the idea of *calorie restriction.* Clive Maine McCay tried it, thinking it was his golden ticket to his 130s. Disregarding his trim frame and his biggest efforts to age 130, no matter how hard he tried with his athletic skills, he suffered two fatal strokes and died at *age 69* on June 8, 1967.
I am 31 and I am vegan for almost 11 years. I have tried to gain weight since... ever! So, I always try to eat as much as I can, but I don't have any success in gaining weight. And each time I hear that calorie restriction is beneficial for longevity, I get jealous of all the other girls. Meanwhile, they are jealous of me because I'm a freak of nature who can eat anything, anytime, and a lot.
It's unlikely that you can eat whatever you want. Your appetite is probably exceptionally well regulated.Try counting your calories. Or just set an alarm for 2am every night and crush a whole bag of Sweet Chilli Heat doritos (vegan btw). Find a way to add 1000 calories to your daily diet and your weight will skyrocket. I was 185cm at 70kg and went up to 90kg, eating 4000 calories a day. It's really, really hard to eat that many calories if you eat clean though - I cheated with red light foods more often than I'll admit.
I am SO looking forward to Dr. Greger's " How not to Diet" I've been a vegan for three years and I have to admit, the last 10 pounds has been really really difficult for me to shed. Hopefully I get help through his new coming out book. But I also have to admit, I really don't know how to healthfully do this: I am a whole food plant based puritan....still I have those extra 10 pounds. I have recently added a lot of exercise - and I have great hopes that this will help me.
kindcounselor are you sure you’re not already at a healthy weight? we all have different set points where our bodies are “happy”... like 2 teen girls with the same height may have different set points and so one may lose her period if she dips below 100 lbs but the other might lose it at 110... congrats though, it sounds like you’re doing great things for your health :)
@@Angelas.Eye_ Yes. Very perceptive! I googled BMI for my age this morning right after I wrote this comment: and found out that I am within the ideal weight and fat content for my age ( 71). Hello doctor and greetings from Bulgaria You are the only doctors I’ve ever trusted and followed. But would you please do a video about vaccinations 💉, because I’m so confused with everything around social media these days.. Please help me with some real evidence for what I should do when I become a mother one day. Thanks a lot! Smiles!
Some of us ladies have been on a "diet" almost our entire lives in order to stay slim. Suppose that will extend our lives as you don't see very obese people after middle age.
I have spent the best part of a decade trying to lose weight ( I have never been 'over weight') and ended up losing my period as a result of under eating and over exercising. This has led to having osteopenia. I think it is more about what we eat rather than how much we eat the can affect our longevity and body weight does not have much to do with it
But how many of the benefits of caloric restriction are just due to the benefits of eating less junk? If most of what people eat is bad for them, then it seems that eating less is a good thing. But if you eat nothing but healthy food, would it really be beneficial to restrict calories as opposed to maximizing nutrient intake?
You just need to slowly decrease the amount of cal... eating one bite less every single day....the result will come faster then you think... Or just try less sugar (maybe 1/6 of a teaspoon) in your coffee every day... Huge results after 3 months
thx for the video :) I would also add that 'calorie restriction' for people is much more complex than simply eating less calories and thus changing biological processes in human body. When you start CR, you change your life-style and this can be also important factor. For example, if CR makes you feel more in power of your life, it helps, but if you strugle with it, it can cause stress and thus 'not help'. You might also change the ways you eat, you act between meals, you think (you might start thinking more about food, staying healthy, etc.), when you get up, go to sleep, etc., because it can all be corellated. Ergo, I think we can't be sure yet that CR itself will help everyone, every time, but it's definitely interesting and promising for longevity :)
It takes some of the constant work off of the digestive system and that energy can be more readily available to assist other organs in the body. That’s why fasting sometimes can heal ailments.
Patrick Blouin Yes, personally and also know a couple people that have healed health concerns such as high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, digestion issues, and high cholesterol by limiting calories. I know several that have done so with fasting as well. :)
That'd make sense if you gave mice unlimited access to food, because rather than storing fat they'd be burning it off and maintain lower body weight. However, in the context of calorie restriction, it appears that mice who are able to hold onto more fat tend to have the most benefit and survive the longest when calorie-restricted. Out of all the strains CR has been tested on, this is one of the predictors whether or not CR will actually work well. Still, no dietary intervention has been shown to be as effective as CR in extending maximum lifespan.
Intermittent fasting works - don't eat after dinner and have a late breakfast. 16 / 8 works great. It reduces calories by stopping mindless snacking in the evening.
Kenz300 x yup. Intermittent fasting is awesome. In fact, it used to be the default for all humans up until like 300 years ago. Which is merely 10-15 generations.
People didnt eat breakfast if they werent sick or heavy workers in the middle ages. In fact, cortisol is highest in the morning and triggers the liver to release glycogen so that we have enough sugar in our blood wihtout meals
Yea 16/8 works for me feel much more energetic in the mornings and through the day. Might have a coffey in the morning, plenty of water. stops evening snacking. Smash it each day!
what works for everyone is different, but intermittent fasting may be even better if you start eating earlier (say 8am) and stop eating earlier (4pm)... per dr. g’s recommendations, eat more of your calories early in the day rather than later. but either way it seems like a good plan to incorporate intermittent fasting however it fits for you, just wanted to share because i heard him recommend that and it’s actually made me feel and sleep much better. can’t wait for dr. greger to release videos on the topic
The trouble with calorie restriction is that you tend to feel a lot more lethargic. So you may live longer but you won't feel as good. Best not to calorie restrict and do exercise, that way you'll have energy and feel good. Although you may die sooner 🤷♂️
The opposite is actually true. I work out 5 days a week and am never tired. I eat about 1750 calories a day. I go bouldering, run, and play soccer in a division 4 team. I feel like crap if I eat too much though, the word food coma is something I only hear others say. I also only eat once a day and have done for the last 15 years. Still gaining muscle very quickly, still able to improve performance in sports and keep up with my 15 year younger team-mates at soccer. I'm just an anecdote and my success may not be the reality you experience. This is only my experience. I am Whole Foods Plant Based.
I eat up to 6-7k calories a day and up to maybe 5k another day and remaining days up to only one thousand at most. Lift heavy weights and run 5 days a week. Have some fun
holy crap this is the golden information we've been waiting for!! can't wait for the IF videos, I know they are coming, I believe with all my vegan heart!!!
BMI vs. mortality data shows that a BMI below a certain point increases your mortality risk. How does that square with the calorie restriction evidence? Is the BMI data confounded by people who are underweight due to illness?
My feeling is that you don't need to calorie restrict if you are on a wholefoods plant based diet. Why would you restrict the healthiest food in the world? I am happy to be proven otherwise!
I wish I could do this. I know its ridiculous how much I eat. I only eat whole food plant based but can still manage to keep an extra 20-25 lbs of unnecessary weight on me. It might be all the dates with nut butters smeared on them or just the fact that I always have a meal or two a day, in which I get overly full. I guess it food addiction as I had heard that we also produce dopamine from getting a full feeling in the stomach.
Lets say calorie restriction and emulating dr Gregers lifestyle and example leads to a longer life. The question is if living like that is worth it in order to squeeze out some extra years as a senior? Personally I work out a ton, row 6 times a week and lift weights 4 times a week, a high level amateur. I eat like a horse, 4000+ calories per day. I enjoy being very fit and strong, I enjoy pushing my own limits and the mental and physical battles that comes with it. If I die at say age 75 instead of 85 why does it matter( unlikely 10 years would be shaved off but lets go for an extreme example)? Do people really have this death fear? Can add I'm almost 40 years old so it's not like I'm some kid without any foresight. I take quality of life over lifespan any day of the week. Also of course quality of life doesn't have to mean you focus your life around working out and being fit. Could be you are a person who likes to indulge in food. Being a bit overweight doesn't bother you and you would be unhappy if you had to feel like you were on a diet. Why would you change? ( edit: obviously if we are talking about being very overweight, obese, it's a different matter) There are no guarantees in life. Could be someone drops a piano on your head tomorrow and you take your last breath. The best alternative is to live life the way that makes you the most happy and feel the best.
Fasting, low carbs and good Vit. D levels. Non of that jogging nonsense, just a gentle walk. Resting heart rate down to 54 from 74. All mammals get the same number of heart beats in a lifetime. Lower heart rate = slower metabolism = longer life.
Benefits of Calorie restriction for longevity can be easily mimicked by reducing inflammatory amino acids (methionine, cystine, etc) or "balancing them out" and by reduced endotoxin level.
@@ballinout92 It is my understanding that histidine can elicite an inflammatory response through histamine, methonine converts to homocysteine, Cysteine and Tryptophan suppress thyroid function overall. Those are the ones I can remember. The best way to balance them about it by having a higher amount of the other aminoacids, consuming foods like gelatin, organ meats and Gelatinous cuts, or by restricting them overall with plant proteins (the good part about them being "incomplete" is that their lower in Tryptophan, methionine, etc). That probably explains why plant protein is associated with better outcome for the general population. Endotoxin I'd say the key is to reduce absorption and promote excretion by stimulating stomach acid, bile flow and proper intestinal function. This is my personal opinion but I think there is no such thing as "good bacteria", just less harmful ones. I PERSONALLY have avoided fiber and seen some improvements (I was heavy on the beans and grains, and while I still probably get more fiber than the average American, I'm probably around 20-25g, nothing like the 50-70g I got before). I know people who function well on fiber also.
fasting is a great way to restrict your calorie, but fasting all the time is unhealthy. The 5-2 day is great, fast for 5 days ( omad, not water fast ) and then 2 days eat normal.
I might try omad on Mondays and Fridays, the days I don't ride. Other days will vary between IF 16:8 and 3 meals a day when doing longer rides. It would be nice to find the right balance with fasting and exercise so you get lean but lose fat and still have energy for the exercise.
Problem is people care too much about food and always eating. Care more about exercising and moving. Eat when you’re very hungry. I eat 6-7k calories one day a week with another slightly lower calorie refeed day with remaining days consuming up to 1k calorie at most. Very active and have gone down to 170lbs from 183 in about a month
Woooooooo!!! Soooooo today was the day people. Today was the day!! 6 months I been on keto. Drank wine and had a few cheat days but not many. I have lost more than 50lbs. 10 inches off my waist. 2 shirt sizes. Went from 38% to 19% bodyfat and dropping. It's been life changing. But everyone talks smack and says wait till you get your bloodwork after eating bacon and eggs for 6 months. I ate other things but that is usually the insult thrown at me by the ignorant. Anyway....... Doctor called me today. Had a complete panel done. My LDL, cholesterol, HDL, triglycerides, blood pressure, organ function, and vitamin and mineral levels were all excellent not even normal. Excellent. She said I could add a little more folic acid to my diet was her only comment. Rest was excellent. Loosing 50lbs is 1 thing but the proof for me was going to be what my bloodwork was like 6 months later after eating a high fat high cholesterol diet. Ans, excellent. Actually better levels now than when I was a vegan and I am 50lbs lighter as a bonus. Now I have the concrete data to show my insides are as healthy as my outside 6 months into keto. Life changing back by data.
Dude you lost weight, of coarse you saw improvements. Guy went on a twinkie diet eating the total opposite to you lost 27lbs and lowered his triglycerides cholesterol blood pressure etc. Then theres walter kempner's who fed his patients white sugar rice and fruit juice and had them reverse type two diabetes and lose hundreds if pounds. Go look up how penn jillette lost over 100lbs. He ate only potatoes. And then theres the studies showing higher all cause and cause specific mortality for animal based keto. I mean if you want to do keto so bad why not just do a plant based keto which is actually assosiated with benifits.
@@23100Battlefield Because I was vegan and I never got the results, energy levels, good skin, and most important of all the bloodwork I do now. Never felt better. Never had better labs. Never had better skin. Never in my life have I had more energy and consistent reliable energy at that. When I was vegan I had a lot of crashes and cravings and ate constantly. Walked around with vegan trail mix all the time. None of that now. Dramatic improvement. That my story. But aren't vegans supposed to eat as many calories as needed? Isn't restriction on a vegan diet what makes people feel horrible and get deficiencies? Im confused here.
Renato Мedellin -- only fast for a long period if you are overweight or obese. Otherwise fasting is only recommended occasionally for a short period of time. That seems to cause cells to eliminate inefficient mitochondria and create new ones (autophagy). Just how long that "short period" needs to be seems to be still up for debate. Some results seem to indicate even just two days is enough to get results. Other studies seem to indicate that a four day fast is necessary for significant results. But no one proposes fasts longer than a week, with the above exception of when weight loss is the primary goal.
Depends on what you eat. Im pretty sure that with a healthy diet youll be fine. But if you eat redined grains oils and sugar not at all. But eat whole grains legumes nuts fruits and veg and im sure it will make a big diff

@@wellthi But bodybuilding is life. Not being biased but do these studies take into account antioxidant levels with the more calories consumed to combat the oxidation? i.e are these on healthy or unhealthy people?
Beneficial also. U should watch a video of Dr Nun Amen Ra where he explains about how one can do the most to prolong longevity and healthspan. Basically time restricted eating individually prolongs lifespan of tested mammals. Another intervention is caloric restriction without malnutrition which is basically eating 30-60% less cals than your recommended amount and supplementing all the necessary vitamins and minerals. There are studies where they restricted mammal cals by 30-60% and they observed that lifespan was increased by same amounts. To wrap this up it is very likely that if somebody takes this to extreme and has good genes there might be somebody who is living to 150-200 in the future as crazy as it sounds.
I am very surprised you cited the conscientious objector study. I thought there was a generally accepted convention against using data from unethical research.
Not necessarily because u still need all the essential micronutrients that is vitamins and minerals in adequate amounts. One could probably sustain about 1200-1500 cals per day (not sure if I could do lifetime but I've been eating 1400 per day for the last year myself) if given all the micronutrients by supplementing but people that have an eating disorder will often go for even lower cals per day (I've heard some people are doing 300-500 cals per day which is absolutely absurd even if u get your vitamins and minerals supplemented. Ofc u cant sustain yourself long term with that low energy intake)
@RipeApple Not all the time. But when you burn fat, ketones are produced. After a meal, part of the food you ate is stored as fat and when needed it gets used again for energy until the next meal. Even in vegans this happens. More so if you eat just 1 or 2 meals a day.
He complaints about them being used as an excuse to eat animal protein or the Atkins diet or get into a bad habit like yoyo diets or as a way to lose anything but water weight Ketogenic diet is good for brain health and he's already made videos on that Like coconut oil, a ketogenic diet helps with some versions of alzheimers, epilepsy and parkinson
This is just false, you want to eat as much food as you can. The more you eat the bigger you get! Not only do you get bigger but your lifespan gets bigger as well
McGee well.... having a paleo or keto diet brings a whole new factor to the equation so I wouldn’t really draw that conclusion... he has videos on paleo and keto incase you haven’t seen them

@@LordOfDhara Greger should be more comprehensive when putting it information like this. His conclusion is to be a calorie restricted and live a miserable life with no fitness or athletic performance, a lot of people listen to this guy religiously and he gets a lot right but he's just a dude.
@@mickjames7962 yea he definitely should have been more specific about this
@@LordOfDhara yes way below his usual standard.
What is the point of this? If you eat normally twice a day, you will still end up eating twice a day. Just eat on schedule.
Dr. Fuhrman's motto for years.
I just heard David Sinclair say this, can't wait to watch!
Hello doctor and greetings from Bulgaria

But would you please do a video about vaccinations 💉, because I’m so confused with everything around social media these days..
Please help me with some real evidence for what I should do when I become a mother one day.
Thanks a lot!

I love my whole food plant-based diet that is naturally calorically restricting since it's not plagued with animal fat :)
Some of us ladies have been on a "diet" almost our entire lives in order to stay slim. Suppose that will extend our lives as you don't see very obese people after middle age.
@Jo P Also, our appetites wane as we age, and even lifelong-overweight people tend to lose weight naturally after 70 or so.
I have spent the best part of a decade trying to lose weight ( I have never been 'over weight') and ended up losing my period as a result of under eating and over exercising. This has led to having osteopenia. I think it is more about what we eat rather than how much we eat the can affect our longevity and body weight does not have much to do with it
High volume nutrient foods for the win!
The first time I've been ok with my slow metabolism- lol! Thank you!!!
Thanks
Nutrient dense foods and fasting make this easy
You just need to slowly decrease the amount of cal... eating one bite less every single day....the result will come faster then you think...
Or just try less sugar (maybe 1/6 of a teaspoon) in your coffee every day...
Huge results after 3 months
yes all change is manageable when done gradually
orrrrrrrr noooooooo sugar. sugar is the enemy.
drink it with oatmeal milk, no sugar needed
oatmeal milk, read before replyig. it has zero fiber and its 92% water. Its a substitute for milk. How the f do u drink coffee with green vegetables?
Oh Dr. Greger, this was on my list of videos to make, seems like I have an extra source to use in my video now 😏🙏🏼
Also, check out the book the blue zones. I did a review on it and there is lots of information about this in that book. It's wonderful!
thx for the video :) I would also add that 'calorie restriction' for people is much more complex than simply eating less calories and thus changing biological processes in human body.
Interesting proposed mechanism. Has it been put to the test?
Patrick Blouin Yes, personally and also know a couple people that have healed health concerns such as high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, digestion issues, and high cholesterol by limiting calories. I know several that have done so with fasting as well. :)
H2 is also great for oxidative stress, based on Japanese science 🧬
Thank you so much for making this video. I have heard about this before, bur have not done much research on it before. Thank you!
Contrary to what this video is telling you... Animals with 17% higher metabolic rates lived 36% longer in the Study 'Uncoupled and Surviving'.
At last, was wondiring when you will do topic of caloric restriction.

I feel you. Im finally getting off the dates and nut butters. They are too addicting to keep around the house 😪
How about dates with a small serving of nuts? Way fewer calories, but same tastiness.

I feel like this video ended early? How much should we reduce our calories by? Too little and we gain it all back? 50% is a little much 😂
Lets say calorie restriction and emulating dr Gregers lifestyle and example leads to a longer life.
( edit: obviously if we are talking about being very overweight, obese, it's a different matter)
There are no guarantees in life. Could be someone drops a piano on your head tomorrow and you take your last breath. The best alternative is to live life the way that makes you the most happy and feel the best.
4k is rookie number 😂😂 try 7k
Fasting, low carbs and good Vit. D levels. Non of that jogging nonsense, just a gentle walk. Resting heart rate down to 54 from 74. All mammals get the same number of heart beats in a lifetime. Lower heart rate = slower metabolism = longer life.
Benefits of Calorie restriction for longevity can be easily mimicked by reducing inflammatory amino acids (methionine, cystine, etc) or "balancing them out" and by reduced endotoxin level.
What are other inflammatory amino acids? And how do you balance them out and reduce endotoxin level??
@@lennonpaiva7058 thats all really interesting stuff! I will read more about those amino acids. Thanks for sharing :)

fasting is a great way to restrict your calorie, but fasting all the time is unhealthy. The 5-2 day is great, fast for 5 days ( omad, not water fast ) and then 2 days eat normal.
R. C. Thats a great way to start feeling real shitty real fast
How longer are you really going to live? Have you seen people doing extreme calorie restriction, they licks sickly
I eat maybe a thousand calories at most 5 days a week because I like to eat large amounts of food in one sitting like 7k when I’m really hungry
Restricting calories?? Or should we be eating valuable calories, easy for the body to break down and use?
Does calorie restriction impair brain function?
I am worried about that.
Probably. Restrictions of carbs could, you need that for nerves and brain function
Well, ‚impair’ is a strong word, but i definitely experience a decrease in cognitive fitness when hungry/fasted. So in all likelyhood yes

What about fasting, water fasting, and intermittent fasting??
