I received the Gourmia as a Christmas gift. I am cleaning it the first time before I use it. I followed the instructions on paper and on RUclips. No water comes out of the frother. I checked to ensure no packaging tape was covering any holes, plugged and unplugged, removed the frother several times and powered on and off. I just sat down for a while to Google if any others are having the same issues.
Update!! My husband suggested gently shaking the machine in case there was a water bubble somewhere. Guess what? the frother started working in the cleaning cycle. I have made two lattes that are delicious. Don't give up too quick!
The first time you need to prime the pump so it takes a while to get water out of the porta filter and milk frother tube. It happened to me and took me about 5 cleaning cycles to see water out.
Feel very lucky that both filters work for me, I'm really looking into trying a non-pressurized filter to see if the machine can produce a decent shot of espresso
They take 51mm portafilters. I have a 51mm CAPFEA bottomless portafilter for my Gevi. I've used it successfully on the Gourmia. I run 15g of espresso ground (hand ground) with a metal puck screen and IF (more often not) I remember it, a paper filter on the bottom. I've used it both on double and single settings. I find that a single setting with essentially a double dose gives closer to a 1:2 ratio. I do the same on my Gevi as the Gevi gives a 30g output with a 15g dose. I never use a single dose basket with pressurized or unpressurized. I have found that I prefer a light to medium roast for my espresso. Either a single-source Costa Rican or a little darker from Avoca Roasters in Fort Worth, TX, called NOIR. I like the latter just a tad more. With the dosage and grind in the unpressurized PF I do have a little water on top of the puck but no issues with channeling, sourness, or bitterness. Hope that helps.
@@TylerTownsendTravel Nah, I just fell down the rabbit hole of better coffee and tinkering. Still learning a lot. The one thing I have learned so far is that if what you are doing tastes good to you. That's what matters regardless of what the gurus say your puck should look like, etc. LOL.
This espresso machines is very similar to Chefman Barista Pro with few cosmetic changes. I think manufacturer for all these cheap espresso machines is just one company.
Any tips on the lights not turning on? I’m only getting the manual light and the single/double espresso light and nothing else. Can’t run the clean cycle or even see the button.
I got this machine for Christmas and the problem I am having is with the milk frother. I have milk in it, but water is coming out of it. Do you know why this is?
@TylerTownsendTravel I have done that many times. The only thing coming out of it is water. I took the contact information you provided in the video, and I guess im going to go from there🤷♀️ I am so upset, tho bc the first week, it worked fine, and it's not like I've changed anything. Who knows 🫤
My issue is when I press the options the single or double stay flashing and it never brews. It worked when I cleaned it the first time but days later, I am not getting anything. Anyone experiencing this ?
Mine has started making a noise when brewing. Loud and different from the usual noise. Initially I removed the water reservoir and it fixed the issues, but the noise returned. Edit: it's the same noise as the machine in the video. My machines original noise was smoother
Just tried to do the cleaning as you showed in the beginning and ours wont even do that 😔 We pushed the clean button it lights up for 3 seconds and then beeps 3 times and shows all the buttons again. We have the water filled in both the water reservoir and the milk, and the filter is in but empty (no ground beans) still wont work 😱
Try lifting the water reservoir on the back up and back on a few times. You’ll see some bubbles come up. This will help prime the machine… maybe it helps.
Just tried that as well and it still does the same thing.. 😔 we might have gotten a defective one somehow. Thank you for replying and trying to help though!! I really appreciate it

Is anyone else having issues with the musty smells from the water reservoir? I make coffee twice a day, so water is always moving through the unit. I am getting a ridiculously strong smell from the tank that does not go away, even after cleaning. Could it be embedded in the plastic?
Reviews are dropping now that more people have gotten their units. $50 is so insanely cheap for an espresso machine I feel nobody can complain except for problems like your single filter
How about freezing completely and not responding Then resetting and then only squirting a little unfrothed milk them freezing indefinitely is that reason to complain and that’s after all the normal problems
I purchased my Gourmia automatic, espresso maker, the other day. So excited, just to be let down it did not work. I plugged it in all the lights came on, I tapped the clean button, and it just made a clicking sound, and did nothing so I waited about five minutes and hit the espresso button, nothing happened just click click click. I removed the milk container and replaced it and made sure that I heard the clicking sound, tried it again, nothing happened. I paid $99.92. They would not give it to me at the sale price. Now it’s on sale at Walmart again for $50 and they’re out of stock. I really wanted a cappuccino this morning. Looks like I’m taking this machine back.

My 2 cup measurement is not working either, and it looks like the hole is closed as well. I reached out to their customer service department, and per their associate states, it's suppose to be closed. Very little help from the customer service rep. I'm still dealing with them. So far everything else is working fine. But I'm disappointed in the lack of concern on Gourmia's behalf. This will be my first and last purchase of their products.
there is a much saver way to test the filter, put some water in basket and suck the bottom real hard, it should give a little water, the basket is pressurized so by looking at it you wont see a hole or light shine trough it. try descaling it.
The coffee are supposedly coming out from these many mini holes, not just the middle one. If there is not coffee at all, it is the mini holes' problem.
I literally want to scream… so I’ve tried every tip online to get this thing to work. The most I got was a few drops out of the frother. I wasn’t even attempting to use the single or double shot cups yet just trying to get water to come through it at all. And when you said yours weren’t punched I checked mine and neither one is punched through the metal 🙃 wtf this thing is about to get thrown in the garbage because it’s been so long I can’t return it now.
My machine is constantly leaking water from the port a filter area. I have to leave an extra empty cup there after I remove my cup of coffee otherwise it makes a mess or fills the draining area. Anyone else have this problem? Also, after brewing my porta filter is just a pool of water with coffee grounds. I would expect for it to be moist but not a pool of water. Anyone else have this problem?
I have the issue of no liquid, water or milk, coming out of the silver milk valve. Nothing came out of the valve during priming and after, although water and espresso poured out of the portafilter head. When I hit the manual froth button, nothing comes out of the milk dispenser valve, but water does come out of the portafilter head. I contacted customer service three days ago but so far have not gotten a response. I just boxed up the machine to return to Walmart, but I’m pretty disappointed.
grind amount and course setting and temperature, darker and oily beans tend to do better at 70-80c (160/175F). beans should be 2 weeks or older roasted and sealed no more than 6 months, opened beans use a vacuum container to keep them fresh. Also on new machines there is a tune in period, the first few months taste can be plastic, metal, it will neutralise after time and couple descale cycles.
