I have one too, he usually is wedged between the fronds of a small sword Plant I have so he's tricked into letting me see him most the time

Thats the same trick I learned with these fish. You have to intenionally design your tanks in ways where you can see them...even when they think that you can't.

I love these guys very very much. To anyone that's genuinely Interested in this fish and really wanna see them one thing I'd recommend is understocking the tank with fish that aren't too big and aggresive but not small enough to be eaten by these guys and possibly a feeder colony as well of like some endlers. This gets them to come out and hunt and in an understocked tank they'd be less freaked out by the other fish. Also turning the lights dim for an hour before turning them off and using a baster or something to get some live or frozen foods at the bottom of the tank will also get them to come out eventually.

Another way is to use tannins and fill the tank completely with wood, they'll poke out a lot.

How big a tank should you keep one in and can you keep more than one or do they brawl?

That is a real beauty!. I wonder if the bumblebee cat generates an electric current to assist in the dark or possibly hunt at night. It looks a little like an electric catfish from Africa.

Stringy clear poop between segments floating around. Angelfish could have gotten internal parasite damage that could be affecting his swim bladder.

At least in a 10g the fish is relatively hard to lose track of. I have kept a few of the nocturnal catfish including a current spotted raphael catfish that I see maybe once a month or once every 2 months in a 90g. Plus if I wanted to find it basically impossible to do without lifting all the wood. Plus sometimes it hides in cracks so.

@@zafishguy5166 Id probably never see if he was in big tank lol he comes out of cave late night , I wish hed eat snails! Every now and then he’ll chase a garra off if they try and go in his big cave , if I need to ever get him out id have to take out cave and pour him out, i like raphael cats

@@kathykirkham1347 I don't know how a garra would do with it long term in such a small tank. Plus honestly my opinion a 10g is not really good for much other than small livebearers and fish fry. Perhaps it's fine for catfish that hide with frequent water changes.

@@zafishguy5166 it was supposed to be a plant tank but wanted something for cave after scaping it , and ordered garras online they came so small so thats where they ended up and wanted to put them in other tank but hard to catch and so far its a cool fun lil tank only 5 fish in it , just getting mature now

redtail cats are not meant to be in the aquarium hobby. unfortunately, some assho le decided to introduce them into it. the fucking thing is a food item in its native land. keeping one as a pet is ridiculous.
