I really like this 80/90ies vibe mixed with gothic elements; it's like a mix between The Cure (the Forest), Killing Joke and Type O'Negative. Just like a good cup of ristretto, intensely black, steaming hot and powerful.
@@FrenchPaul1988 Yes, you're right now I think of it! Thanks! Listened a lot to CoX back in the early 1990ies and seen them perform a couple occasions in their home town of The Hague, here in Netherlands. Have seen a few things of their more recent work her on YT too and liked it as well. Back then there was also a very obscure Welsh band by the name of Freur (Doot-doot being a minor hit at the time) and that had a somewhat similar atmosphere. Do you happen to know them too?
Anyone who calls TON boring and droning is indeed a barbarian, couldn't be further from the truth! Anyone who ever truly listened to them jnows that's a load of bs!
@@blueblade455 Yeah it's a 90's sound and modern sound at the same, vocals sound somehow influenced by like AiC but different, like with that haunting melancholic attitude, so, pretty original sound.
Deftones is my fav band ever. And I'm glad someone else hears it in this song in particular I could so see Chino singing this Steph laying down that riff and Abe blasting away at that percussion.
I am just very grateful to have gone through multiple webzines/podcasts to get a hint this album is stellar : After listening, as always, it is impossible to stop the entire album on loop - the melancholy, the melodies, the peace. A-Loner. Keep digging relentlessly out there in the big wide wonderful world - Art Lives in the remotest corners. What an absolute gem of an album. Thank You - Hangman's Chair. Hope to see you Live soon.
Irist recommended this album. I’ve listened to the entire album 10 times in 1 day. Album of the year worthy. I can’t even describe this album, maybe doom-gaze. Like a cross between Paradise Lost and modern Deafheaven.
Merci d'être là, toujours aussi consistants. Je vous souhaite encore plus de succès et de reconnaissance, vous étiez un trésor encore trop bien caché du metal français, éclatez-vous !! ❤️
The band themselves commented on the release of "Who Wants To Die Old": 'This is where it all started, depression. Depression comes back like an old friend, always. It crawls and slithers like Colonel Kurtz’snail, along the edge of a straight razor, our spine. And it survives. 'Who Wants To Die Old' was written at the peak of a never-ending depressed state and the stage was set for the rest of the album. “Musically, it has been inspired by our main influences from the ‘90s Brooklyn Type O Negative and Life Of Agony. Once again, Oscar Bizarre is behind the camera, filmed in an abandoned sanitarium hidden in the woods near Paris, where concrete and nature become one.”
I wish I could find some other band with a similar atmosphere. There's an 80s feeling here. The entire album is epic and nostalgic. It reminds me of how Ulver approaches the 80s aesthetic on their last two albums. Brilliant!
saw them yesterday supporting paradise lost in berlin. didnt know these guys. they suprised me a lot and if i wasnt the biggest pl fan on earth, these guys could have been the main act. they sounded heavier, more melancholic, so id say they were better than pl. pl had a rather mediocre setlist and their stage presence has disappeared. i mean i wasnt disappointed, they are old men (me too), but nothing surprising. hangmans chair on the side were really the surprise of the day. i hope they come back for solo tour ;)
The Cure

I get a bit of a Clan of Xymox vibe too.
Do NOT compare this boring, droning nonsense to TON.
@@darkangel076 I can and I will if I feel like it.

This album is just pure beauty. I'm lovin' it entirely.
Album is a masterpiece!!! 🖤🖤🖤
certainly the best I heard in quite a while
New band to listen to. I'm really impressed how diverse rock and metal are nowadays. A hug from Brazil fellow friends.
Haven't had a feeling like this listening to an album since I heard October Rust. These guys nailed it with their sound and vibe on this release.
Agree! Same vibes but different sound, they reminds of Type O Negative without sounding like them.
This is the sound we naturally crave for every now and then. Carries on what the 90's to mid 2000's left off of.

I just came across this band for the first time today, and hard agree on that one. I grew up on Type O Negative. Good stuff right up in here.
Type o negative forever❤
Deftones like 🤘🏻! Great performance! Master classsssss!

Chino in the vox and that's about it.
Intro et ambiance pesante incroyable ! et quel son !

It reminds me Type o Negative and Deftones. I'm in love. Thank you guys!
This is badass. Emotional pure metal driving song. It’s the best I’ve heard in a long time.
I've waited years for this. Hasn't disappointed. Congrats on the new release! 2:18 hits so hard.
When the riff starts at 02:20 it's a truly a Nuclear Blast Records 🤯
Played with ARKANGEL guys back in the day in the uk. Good times! I do love Hangman Chair stuff 👍🏻
Very good vocalist and excellent music, good band.
Reminds me of Type O Negative 🔥🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻

What's their best CD I'm loving the sound. Been a while since I found a good metal band where the singer sounds good.
