Nice work !
Looking forward to seeing the timing chain install. In the process of replacing chain, chain guides, oil pump chain, oil pump chain module, and grip disc and sprocket. Currently timing everything with the timing kit following TIS directions, but when I crank the engine twice the cams and sprockets line up, but the tdc pin does not line up. I've checked if the vanos sprockets are locked which they were, and checked where the valvetronic was. I had the valvetronic at maximum lift, now with it at minimum lift it times correctly. Any insight to this? Thanks!
@@straightupbmw Yes hub bolt was torqued to initial 100nm and 270 degrees with crank at TDC and crank locked. I retimed the cams to the hub with the valvetronic adjusted at minimum lift, and now it all lines up after cranking the engine by hand twice.
While doing my pan gasket on N51 I broke the output side oil pump chain guide nub. Shouldn't be much of an issue you think? Car has been running for almost two weeks now after the pan service.
Hello, I bought the chain maintainer 7 523 884, is it normal that it does not fit in the location of my oil pump? the hole is small however I took it from the BMW site which should be compatible with my BMW engine code n55 it originally had this mechanical operation
What is the name of the cover for the gear the last part you did
@@jamesveney9078 sorry not sure i follow

There is a lot going on here. Did you torque your hub bolt 100n.m and then 270 degrees
Sounds like your crank is out of time to cam sprockets

Have a pic
@@straightupbmw I do but if you look on the oil pump chain guide assembly online it is the lower right nub. It broke that rounded end off.
I use a 3/8 drive one inch E10 with a 3 inch 3/8 extention to remove/ install / torque that lower oil pump guide screw.
Which screw is that ? The gear to oil pump?
@straightupbmw The screw you were tightened with a wrench
You said in the Video that you can't find a socket to tighten the screw with
@@shelray2154 ok, I will try , I have been using a 8mm wrench
@straightupbmw yeah I saw in the video.
I go in from the bottom with the socket, then push the extension through the hole and attach it to the socket

Does the oil pump have to come out in order to change the module?
No
Just in okay pump gear and slide out
