I am about halfway through the video, and what you said reminds me of my attempts to figure out the point of ecchi in Bakemonogatari. As it turns out, one does not even need to record essays to fall victim to the habit of trying to rationalize what they like or dislike.
I get what your talking about. Recently I experienced a story from a video game that resonated with me more than any other work of fiction has good evening inspired me to start pursuing a dream I had ever since I was a child. It's almost like the story was made to specifically inspire me. Because the story just resonate's with me perfectly.
I have a bit of an unknown anxiety when wanting to watch shows/movies that everyone considers goated. Gurren Lagann was in that list and thankfully, this vid is getting me over the finish line of finally tackling this show. Thanks Eren~
For me at least, I used to watch things with a sort of "is it worth my time" mindset instead, but nowadays I make a conscious effort to simply enjoy whatever ride I'm taken on based on initial intrigue alone. Go on and enjoy Gurren Lagann!
I know exactly what this feeling is like too. It’s almost as if something just vibes with you in an instinctual sense. For me just listening to Zelda Skyward Sword’s ost makes me want to cry in so many different ways because of how much it impacted me when I first finished it. It’s far from a perfect game but remains as my favourite Zelda entry to this day.
Beautifully put! It’s hard to stop myself from tearing up whenever listening to a lot of Gurren Lagann’s tracks as well, especially Libera Me from Hell 😭
