If Shinra didn't exist, Sephiroth, Genesis, Angeal, Zack Fair, and Cloud would have been far stronger than most in their world. Sorry for the long paragraph but FF 7: Crisis Core was amongst the first 10 games I ever played since I was poor growing up ❤😊

It is a pretty cool but fairly common concept, and I don't think this anime is the best example of it. This one just screams fanfic level writing and probably not worth actually watching beyond the recap. But if you want more, there are lots of media surrounding gods play with this concept. The anime Noragami follows an old war god who is largely forgotten and became weak as the Japanese have become a peaceful country. Lots of Chinese wuxia novels explore this concept as well.

However, she manages to overcome the script and defeat the replacement demon king, and said replacement demon king looks awfully familiar to this guy. Black hair, dark armour with purple highlights, I think I'm seeing some stuff.

Then the antagonist saw what was inside of the eldritch being's false skin and her expression instantly went from "sadistic conqueror" to "terrified child". Next scene was her sitting quietly at the bargaining table with the eldritch horror's employer. 😂
