    As a tech up in the north it’s like hitting the lottery if bleeders actually open 🤣

    I love how Honda set their maintenance reminders...it tell you when to do each maintenance and when whether something like oil change brake fluid or service brakes or some other things...I do same thing like you mileage and condition

    Northern European tech here, i do 3-4 brake fluid changes a week. Its a good profit for a 15-20 min job, we charge 100$ for a brake fluid change. I use a German BGS technic brake fluid changer, its a nice unit as it uses an eletric motor to pump fluid and put the resorvoir under pressure, it also collects the used brake fluid with 4 silicone hoses to each bleeder screw. Bought the machine 15 years ago for 2000$ and it paid for itself after 2 months. VIM brake bleeder wrenches is also a must.

      Do you pen all bleeder at the same time , ?

    • @Halibrand
      @Halibrand Год назад +1

      @@inverseuniverse5727 No the machine flushes 100ml brake fluid on each caliper starting from rr->lr->rf->lf then it pulses rr for 50ml again to make sure all brake fluid is replaced.

    • @Halibrand
      @Halibrand Год назад +2

      And in the end it does a system leak test for 2 min to make sure all bleeder screws are tight and that the rest of the system is not leaking.

    I've stopped testing brake fluid some time ago. I've used both the test strips and an electronic tester. The problems were more with service writers and/or shop owners, than with customers. At most, they just have me drain and fill the brake fluid reservoir🙄

    I'm over 40 years German car mechanic, they recommend every two years, I power flush 3 liters through the system. Great money maker, can usually do other things on the car while the fluid goes through. Run the right rear the longest than the left rear right front and left front makes a big difference. I'm getting 160-180 per car.

    Four cars in one shop that are low on brake fluid? The odds are astronomical...
    Anyway, this is not my idea. It's also a go-no go test.
    Copper in the brake lines are mostly what cause the discoloration seen in old brake fluid. By the time you see this discoloration, it's likely that moisture has found its way in too.
    DVOM set to DC Volts, negative meter lead to (-) battery terminal (if you can't reach the battery, a solid ground works too), positive meter lead in the brake fluid (don't use the actual lead, sacrifice a piece of copper tubing).
    If the reading is ≥ .3v, the fluid should be changed. However, It's easier to convince customers of this than it will be to convince your Foreman/shop owner.
    They'll be really skeptical...

    I changed all 4 of my sister's brakes, but I couldn't find my lil Gatorade bottle I had set up for one person brake flushing. I was feeling a bit lazy after changing all 4 brakes, it was getting getting late so I just told to go to the local shop and ask for a brake flush when she had the chance. She went her next day off. They charged her an hour labor and a bottle of fluid. All good 👍

    I don’t need a tool personally, I just flush it when time or mileage calls for it. Brake fluid can still be ok after 60k miles and 5 years. Its not as critical as they say. 30k mile intervals are best but…

Also flat rate master truck got some rust on it and needs a brake system flush, if I'm not going to make my full NUT $$$$ and it means I'll have to actually work I'm not gonna recommend the brake fluid service. Sounds about right 🤬

    So I bought this tester from the Amazon link. Figured I would test it. Put it in straight brake fluid and it showed about 2 bars. Started to add water at 1/2% at a time. After first 1/2 % it shot up to 6 bars, like yours in the video. Kept adding water till I got to 50% water and it still showed 6 bars, Okay, less than 2%. Sent it back to Amazon. Wondering if these are all this inaccurate, or I just got a bad one?

    I just have an ordained priest come by and bless the brake fluid,then I hunt down a mythical monster from medieval Western Europe, next I douse the monster in the brake fluid and see if it does any damage. If it does I inform the customer that it’s time to change the fluid. They deny the service and I don’t get paid for for my efforts. Sometimes I feel frustrated with my wasted endeavors but I still sleep well at night knowing I didn’t buy that stupid tool.
