- James Madison and Oklahoma played in the Opening Round of the 2021 Women’s College World Series.

Wow. Great game. As a baseball fan who does not know all of the ins and outs of softball that seemed like a harsh call on the double play. They would not have benefited from that call in baseball. They give the baserunner the bag even if he was forced out.

I always look at softball as mini baseball because there's rules that are the same.

This was the 1st round of the 8-team tournament (double elimination, like the others commented.) NCAA named their final 8 softball and baseball tournaments the College World Series, so it’s different than the final 2 of MLB being the pro’s World Series.

@@slicerx56 the first baseman is already coming in for the bunt, and softball infields are smaller so she just keeps running to cover 3rd, short covers second base and second covers first base
@@PapaPilot88 but then if the bunt goes down the first base line and the first baseman field it’s there’s nobody to to cover third and the runner at second gets that bag for free. See the issue?
@@slicerx56 if the bunt goes down 1st baseline, then either the 3rd baseman (or some teams have the pitcher) go back to cover 3rd. >>>What would your strategy be to field bunts, differently than both corners crashing, and the one who doesn’t get the ball covers?
(By doing it this way you still get there because of the field size, and still have LF as backup.)
