SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE MY BABY SHE'S STRETCHED ON A LONG WHITE TABLE
Yeah, because it's rotoscoped. It's a frame by frame animation of Cab Calloway dancing. There's footage of him doing those exact dance moves while performing Minnie the moocher ( a different song).
"The dancing is rotoscoped from footage of Calloway" *Animators watch in horror as Cab Calloway stretches and morphs his whole body into a chain pendent and changes his head into a booze bottle*
Also the fact that all the background images match the song and is inspired by the mafia activity at the time is incredible. Back then, there was no getting around it. You couldn’t be a musician and perform in anywhere without connections to the mafia and that didn’t stop until well after the 60s. My grandpa used to play bass and had connections to some too. Crazy. It’s so accurate and THE ANIMATION HOLY COW.
Most people don't know that that ENTIRE dance was rotoscoped. Mr. Calloway actually took off his head and morphed it into a bottle. He said "You boys better get that perfect, because I can only do it once."
The first time I saw this, I could tell they looked at a film of a person dancing. I didn't even know of rotoscope. But I could tell that, despite the character being unrealistic, the movement was realistic.
Boy, cartoonists back then were really out of their minds in the best ways. Such creative imagery! You'd have to try really hard to replicate this stuff!
It would be possible if animated things weren’t always shown to kids because Karen’s thinks animated things are just for kids. Like back then cartoons weren’t always meant for kids, i don’t think it ever was suppose to be.

Went down to old Joes barroom, Down on the corner by the square. They were serving drinks as usual, The usual crowd was there. In the corner sat big Joe McKenzie, His eyes were bloodshot red. As he turned to address the crowd around him, These were the very words that he said:
You don't get the same kind of passion and full-blown creativity in today's music OR animation. The surreal yet hyptonising visuals, coupled with the almost haunting vocals of this insanely talented singer/voice actor, makes this one of my favourite pieces of classic animation of ALL time.
This is kinda disturbing but so artistic somehow, I used to watch this when I was little in 2006 (I'm born in 2004), my parents loved to let me watch old cartoons like this and obv I loved them and this is kinda hypnotic also, I love it.
Cab Calloway here personifies New Orleans blues. The improvisation, the emotion, the pure soul put into each and every note is what it's all about. A great song complimented by some brilliant animation
This part of the film and the song itself captured the essence of the Great Depression along with being a truly surreal and scary but beautiful experience. Cab’s voice is gorgeous and his dancing is enchanting. I just can’t stop watching this. I feel like if somebody described this to me, I’d instantly think they were making up some cursed video story on the spot. Every thing about this is perfect and so haunting. Also I think this is all that I need to instantly debunk the Fresno Nightcrawlers video lmao
I remember when I was younger and used to hate older songs just because they were older. I myself am now older and wiser and am now aware of what a moron I was
Oh sure, when this clown gets stepped on the noggin he can spit straight fire but when *I* step on a clowns noggin I have to be escorted away from the kids birthday party
For the longest time, I thought tthese were in colour! The ones that were shown when I was a kid in the early 90s were all colourised. I only found out they were originally B&W years lateron the internet.
I wish there was a full song to THIS version. I love it. I was glad to stumble across an old classic. I wish I was alive during this time of age with cartoons. :)

I thought it was scary at first but 3 days later I started humming the song while on the toilet and I realized this song was beautiful!!
The animation is scary but the singing is beautiful
I've been listening to this song for the past three days. It's quite great.
The Clown just turns into a ghost and starts vibing
Its so mesmerizing, I can't stop watching it.
Man koko hit this song so well 😍🌹🔥
Interesting opinion. However, this may be more your spee...www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/263918/hitler-survival-theory

He was voiced by Cab Calloway. You should check out the original recording as well as him performing the song.
So scary...and yet so talented.
More frames than modern anime.
This animation is only 1 minute and 45 seconds, while anime has at least 20 minutes, maybe that's why they don't produce something fluid like this one
@@KaraSub2.0 there's a whole episode 7 minutes I believe, sure not much but not one or two minutes
You’ve angered a lot of neckbeards
modern animators are underpaid and are using as many shortcuts as possible
True
Dang RUclips really be waiting a whole decade to give me the good stuff
Folks, I'm goin' down to St. James Infirmary
See my baby there;
She's stretched out on a long, white table
She's so sweet, so cold, so fair
Let it go, let it go, ohh bless her
Wherever she may be
She will search this wide world over
But she'll never find another sweet man like me
When I die, bury me in my straight-leg britches
Put on a box-back coat and a Stetson hat
Put a twenty-dollar gold piece on my watch chain
So you can let all the boys know I died standing pat
An' give me six crap shooting pall bearers
Let a chorus girl sing me a song
Put a red hot jazz band at the top of my head
So we can raise Hallelujah as we go along
Folks, now that you have heard my story
Say, boy, hand me another shot of that booze;
If anyone should ask you
You just tell 'em I've got those St. James Infirmary blues
Rainfawkes+ Okay, Thanks.
Went down to old Joes barroom,
Down on the corner by the square.
They were serving drinks as usual,
The usual crowd was there.
In the corner sat big Joe McKenzie,
His eyes were bloodshot red.
As he turned to address the crowd around him,
These were the very words that he said:
Pepr devil makes three!
Rainfawkes thank you
I PRAYED FOR THIS, THANK YOU CHILD OF JESUS
"Old Cartoons are Crazy" is how I got here.
me too
CR0Wgalaxy same
I got here from the Highway Man song.
Man,Cab Calloway was so Cool
Atif Aslam
I actually read he was one of George Harrison's influences and that was from a boy who became a Beatle.
Love how the white stripes made a cover of St. James infirmary blues and had their own slight turn of the song and it still sounds amazing
Anyone else like this because they liked Cab Calloway's voice?
I am!
The animation and her voice. .. the paradise
younger me had a huge ass crush on him
Descending Angel it's a dude dumbass
yep
Imagine looking at this and saying “yeah I can rap over this!”
Dash Mash ghost mane did it pretty well though🤣
@@komix7556 No. He did not
@@bobcat420 Yes, he did
no, you can't beat this...
Who in the fresh cut fuck is ghostmane
He moves so smoothly. How did we go from great animation like this to Uncle Grandpa
They used a Rotoscope
I VIBES I flash animation
I HATE UNCLE GRANDPA (just needed to say it, bye * waves *)
I VIBES I couldn’t agree more
Hey b0ss can i habe de pisa pls?
Koko is smooth as silk with those dance steps. And did I see a little moon walking and dabbing in that repertoire?
Hey boah hand me anotha shot u that bOOOOOOOooooooooOOOOOOOze
The way he moves is so realistic and stunning
Well, it was animated over the original song’s writer when he danced to it.
You don't get the same kind of passion and full-blown creativity in today's music OR animation. The surreal yet hyptonising visuals, coupled with the almost haunting vocals of this insanely talented singer/voice actor, makes this one of my favourite pieces of classic animation of ALL time.
Charly Oddsox you're up in the night if you don't think theirs creativity in today's music or animation.
it's there, just not in the mainstream
This is kinda disturbing but so artistic somehow, I used to watch this when I was little in 2006 (I'm born in 2004), my parents loved to let me watch old cartoons like this and obv I loved them and this is kinda hypnotic also, I love it.
This is a masterpiece.
CorrieLejjena truly my friend
I agree
the voice and the animation along with the vibe, classic.
Cab Calloway here personifies New Orleans blues. The improvisation, the emotion, the pure soul put into each and every note is what it's all about. A great song complimented by some brilliant animation
I know I saw this somewhere like 2 years ago and would watch this over and over. I just don’t know where.
This is one of the best animated moments in history. It's just so spine-chillingly awesome and terrifyingly surreal.
I myself am now older and wiser and am now aware of what a moron I was
Same here. As they say, hindsight is 20/20
SAY BOY HAND ME OVER ANOTHER SHOT OF THAT BOOOOOOOOOZE 👻
Been humming this to myself all day
Oh sure, when this clown gets stepped on the noggin he can spit straight fire but when *I* step on a clowns noggin I have to be escorted away from the kids birthday party
RUclips should implement an awards system just so that we can give comments like yours more than just a ike
@@taliajung1553 agreed
This is the most fire shit I've seen in my entire life
This animation is so surreal I love it
No joke
Imagine how good this would look in color
nahhh i like the aesthetic of the black and white
Personally I think B&W is the optimal aesthetic for this.
Who needs colors thats a masterpiece!
For the longest time, I thought tthese were in colour! The ones that were shown when I was a kid in the early 90s were all colourised. I only found out they were originally B&W years lateron the internet.
Nah it's better in black and white
"After all, the world is a stage, and the stage is a world of entertainment."
Hazbin Hotel!!
Okay I looking at this and I told myself I swear I heard that before then it clicked in my head
Allistor is the best
*Alastor
IM LITERALLY SPEECHLESS ANOTHER HAZBIN FAN IS HERE?!
I wish there was a full song to THIS version. I love it. I was glad to stumble across an old classic. I wish I was alive during this time of age with cartoons. :)
This is just cool. Love the creepy backgrounds and the animation of everything is nice. Plus he sings the song incredibly
Everything about this is masterful. From a time when art defined culture, rather than pop defining art.
This is gold
TIL Koko the Clown's fluid motion in this animation was created by rotoscoping Cab Calloway, who provided the singing.
I can't tell if this is funny or just downright terrifying.
This man would treat me right
SHOOT, he singing that good blues, yessuh he is
For me....digital animation can't compete with this.
agred fuck zootopis
+tubarao feio haha like you didn't even know the message behind that movie
+ML ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ wait what message
+ML ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ:ooooo
20 polo the message is actually about racism and sexism that we should talk about in this present year. Or i think Zootopia is like America that promises freedom and everybody lives happily, but in fact there is still racism and sexism around there but boi, i'll be happy to look out for more opinions...:)
I may be 16 and was born in 2004, but this is truly a classic for even me.
His chick is dead so he sings six lines about her, then says "She will search this wide world over But she'll never find another sweet man like me " and the rest of the song is about himself.
he’s going to kill himself that’s why
The worst part was the suicide prevention hotline wasn't going to start in about 70 years.
Its about the girl being dead to him. She left his ass now he feels dead. He gonna drink some booòoooooowze
From what I got, in the OG song, she died of syphilis. This poor fella is going out soon too.
