We have similar tastes. I just got a sailor pro gear. I have been eyeing the carène for about a year. I’ve been eyeing the Lamy dialog cc for almost my whole fountain pen journey but never considered it because it’s so pricey. I hope you get them so I can live thru you! ❤
I got a black medium 14k Lamy nib (with no breather hole) from Endless pens during their most recent Black Friday sale for $60 including shipping, which I thought was a good deal. It is juicy and smooth. I really like it! It is a nice upgrade to my Lamy Lx Au.
I have been having many deep thoughts about my pens now that I have finally been able to let some go. I think watching you sell yours so easily influenced me in a big way and I feel a lot lighter because of it! I don't have many pen purchases planned. Nibs, yes.
Wonderful! Yeah, I have a similar observation - coming up in the 8PenQuestions video. Because I am able to let go of pens that don't serve me any longer, I have no problem not setting any limits. I know that it's going to organically ebb and flow.
I have the Origin Pro Gear and it is beautiful! It is my favorite Pro Gear. I got it with a broad nib, which is my favorite size Sailor nib. For me medium is a little too narrow for a stiff nib, but I know other people like it a lot.
I am still in the discovery period of fountain pen brands. I have entry level pens from many of the popular companies. I still want to try an Opus 88 Koloro and a Benu. I am hoping to try some different nib grinds at a pen show. I would love to own a custom made pen someday.
The more expensive one - forget what they call it, is really beautiful. I think it's Pen Chalet that is having a sale on them. I also want an ST Dupont. Sigh
Thank you for sharing this video :) I have the Kaweco Brass Sports with a broad nib and it took me by surprise !!! The material is what initially attracted me, but it is a VERY smooth juicy broad nib and the heft of the pen combined with that nib makes the writing experience really nice. I never tried a plastic Kaweco Sports and I'm not sure I would be so enthralled. I'm curious, why are you considering the Lamy Dialog CC over the Dialog 3 ?
I'm not enjoying the diameter of the grip section of the Kaweco Sports and I don't see how that would change if it was the same pen made of brass. I am considering the Dialog cc over the Dialog 3 because as far as I understand the Dialog CC is an improved version of the Dialog 3 that addressed some of the issues of the Dialog 3.
We already had the subject of the Lamy nibs over on Instagram… the nib of the Dialog CC fits the Safari as well, I got the rose gold one in broad for my Safari Lightrose, wonderful match. ;) Still wouldn’t recommend Lamy‘s retractable pens… the CC is basically the same as the Dialog 3 and that one dries out faster than I can write my name. What is it with the Waterman Carène hype at the moment ? Don‘t really get that one either. I don‘t like the inlaid nib because my fingers always slip down there and get drenched in ink, but maybe that’s just me. ;) Did you ever consider a Leonardo Momento Zero Grande ? If you enjoy your Scribo so much, you should try an MZG with a gold nib. :)
I think both the Lamy Dialog CC and the Carene are both so different that I wouldn't necessarily want to own them but try them for a month or so to see how I feel about them after a longer writing experience. @ironmic is the one who kept bringing the Carene up on my discord as an underrated pen.
Thank you for recapping your pen and nib wishlist. It will be an interesting journey to see how your new wishlist pans out.
I've already did quite some damage to my budget. I'll probably update sometime in May.

3:57 ...I love that look of the writing style you did there, for making a title
.
Thanks so much!
Love that M800. I can’t wait to see your exploration of it. It is my one and only pen on my wishlist.
It's so good!

I want a Carene, too. And I'm a year behind you with the Schon DSGN and Sig nib.
I think I would like to try a Carene first before I decide to buy one. LOL. I'm not convinced yet.
I dont own any kawecos but if I did I would want the white one :)

I'm saving for a monoc nib and a Pilot Custom 743, so yeah expense.

Oh. About the Leonardo: since I have not ventured into that brand one bit, I think I'll pursue my Lamy gold nib endeavor first.
I sent you a message about pilot parallels.
I am definitely trying this out. Thanks for sharing your learnings.
