- Beneteau took a long hard, look at us cruisers and how we sail to figure out what sort of boat we wanted. The result is the Sense range - essentially an apartment with amazing views that's great fun to sail. We tested the 46 in Palma.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Chris Beeson is in a class of his own. One of the finest presenter and reviewers of yachts I’ve ever listened too!
I love the way this guy reviews boats. I've seen him do it a few times, he doesn't berate the boat, but just nonchalantly lists off everything that's less than stellar. A good critic.

I really wish they would do more reviews. I like his candor. Of all the people doing sailboat reviews, he is far and above the best in my opinion.
Agreed. But sometimes the cameraman is better than others, e.g. pointing at the thing being talked about, rather than at Chris.
I wish the videos didn't include heavy nose breathing/whistling.
His highest praise is when he says he’d be ‘happy with this boat’

would you sail a Benneteau around Australia ..?
I am really not familiar with that area , since I only have 6 weeks a year to sail on the open seas . So far in the med ,( Croatia, Italy , Greece ) and the Caribbean , where I have sailed , I am confident this boat would suit me just fine .

Beneteau did a lot of research about how their owners DONT sail their boats.
I like hearing a sailors review from the point of view of access to mechanical.
He gave it at the end - "it's not good, but if you buy this boat that's probably somebody else's job." hehe. I wish...
***** I haven't heard this claim good thing I'm saving for a old 2001 Beneteau CC. I could never afford one of the brand spanking new ones.

Awesome review as always! However i do have a request and that is a long and detailed review of my absolute favorite sailing yacht the BENETEAU OCEANIS 55. I would absolutely love to see a full on review on it. I have only seen it once on a boat show in Sweden but i didnt get a good look at it since there where so many people on it and the line was so long it take forever to get on it and have a look and feel. I hope it will be possible! Cheers !

Chris is great! This boat illustrates how boat interiors are evolving towards simplest and least compicated manufacturing, as he opens the table I immediately feel that floppy cheap cornered movingeverywhere light breakseasily willnotlastlong ikea feel. Pathetic. That robust cozy well detailed aestetic old feel of beneteau is long gone. All went down into the squared furniture style from Elan and Hanse. I guess sales figures justified it. Sad
That middle rail thingie in the cockpit? That would be the absolute number 1 for me for not to buy. Who wants to start a boat ownership with a steel rail removal and see the cockpit floor base attachment every day (what was this here?)

Nah, I was thinking of something a bit more "whale resistant" :D
I thought that some of the design ideas were inspired: e.g. that fold down bench seat in the saloon neatly solves the problem of wasted space vs no passage forward when you have a linear galley. Some of the other things were weird (window into the head) verging on stupid (not fully enclosed showers in the stateroom). That pull up transom thingy was particularly stupid: either get an open transom boat or get a closed one and be ready to step up and down over it. The very low step in the companionway is just inviting seawater into the saloon; and the companionway doors were a joke. Chris pretty much said it: Beneteau built this boat for people that don't like sailing. In that case, it should be equipped with blazers and cravats for guests who forget to bring their own...
Did he suggest the owners cabin be at the back at 12:30 ??? And if so why ????I'm New to this world and wondered why this would make a difference
At sea the front of the boat rocks up and down the most, while the back got the least movement. Therefore you would want to sleep where there is the least movement. If planning on sleeping at all.

Is this kind of boat what they call a Dock Dolly? For entertainment only. Rarely motored about the marina bay.

Audio is way over compressed, lap mic is on the left channel. Hard to understand because of poor post production, it sounds like a preset compressor in Premiere. Love the content of the vids though!

Definitely not nearly as impressive of a boat as I would expect from beneteau.. honestly, I think they're 20 year old boats are put together a little better than this..

Like the way the parrot doing the review, parrots just repeat the same thing all the time, he just brushes past the subject of access for maintenance. As someone who has had the misfortune to have done maintenance on these boats I would say the are the worst I have ever come across for maintenance. If the parrot says something might be a bit hard to get at read that as impossible. Buyer beware.
