Thank you so much for recording and uploading the converter upgrade process! My truck camper is different (Lance 1172) but I have the same converter. I used your video as a reference and just successfully completed the upgrade.
This video details my experiences upgrading the solar charging system on our camper. It's my journey installing these components and how it went for me. And I'd say It went pretty much to plan with only a few difficulties -- and I also showed those in this video. I'm not an electrician or a solar installer and I'm sure there's many ways to do this, and many opinions on the right or wrong way. I'm a DIY'er like many of you. I look forward to your comments, questions, and suggestions. Everything I installed or modified appears to be working well and indeed we can run our portable AC from the batteries through the inverter. Thanks for watching! Kent
Fantastic video. I really appreciate how well you detailed everything. I am attempting a similar install on a 2000 Lance Lite 815 with no existing wiring for solar so it's good to see your modifications went well. The bench explanation of the install before starting was great, I wish everyone did that.
Just remember on your batteries, "Black is always connected last and disconnected first". That will prevent any sparks 99.9% of the time. Great video. Good use of space. Just monitor the heat in the space when that inverter is really working.
Great job. I'm kind of doing the same thing with San older truck camper and 2 100ah LifePo4 batteries. Not sure how many panels I can put on the roof but I'd like to have the ability to have some on the ground too.
5:04 Great video! It’s going to be very helpful when I do my solar upgrade in 2 weeks. You mentioned Progressive Dynamics model PV4045KA. Is that the old model you already have installed or the new model you are installing? Mine doesn’t support lithium either.
I have the same camper and was planning to do this same upgrade. I have questions about connecting the transfer switch to the converter- (PD4045CSV). You bypass to the converter before the transfer switch so the inverter connects to it. On the inverter- does it just connect to the 110v side of the PD4045 panel along with the hot coming from the transfer switch?
Why Eagle Cap truck camper. I have a Northern Lite 10.2, when you ask for this upgrade it's expensive but they put the batteries under the seat, an a 3,000 watt inverter. I think truck campers will general will gravitate to Lithium batteries.
Is that a 12v air conditioner running directly from the battery? ~70a seems like a high draw for a fridge and small ac unit. That type of draw would leave you with only 3 ish hours of run time without sun or shore, correct?
The reason your lamps didn't light up because of only using 12v, assuming that you were using 110v lamps. If you want the lamp to light you should have used a 12v lamp, a good one would have been a indicator/brake globe this would have allowed the caps to charge at around 5-15 watts depending on the lamp. The LED and compact flouro lamps would not pass any current at this low voltage, the globe has to be incandescent.
Excellent video… Yes, a little longer than most, but there was also a heck of a lot more complexity than most… Very well done Kent.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!!
I liked how you laid everything out on the bench to explain the connections!
Thanks!
It's been a while. Great to see your updates again!
More to come!

The MAN is back.. and about time too. 👍👍
well done. great video. The renogy ecosystem is great.
Thanks! 👍
That was a very good video outlining your install
Thanks!!
Outstanding install!!!
Great to see a new video!
Thanks! My full time job has been taking a lot out of me this last while. But, I have another big project completed and in the editing phase.
@@MANaboutTOOLS Fingers cross..Greenhouse?
@@jon_raymond yes!
Thank you for your time
thank you, you make terrific videos
Thanks!!

Is there a need for surge protection in an RV?
Great video, thanks for sharing

Probably because he owned it or it was cheap
Great video
Wheres the ground wire connected to? Unsure how to connect to frame
Re: your transfer switch, does it prioritize shore power as an input even with an inverter connected to the 2nd input?
It’s been a year since you did this. How is it working out? And would you do anything different?
It's all working like new. I would add a few more ventilation holes near the inverter. And probably will in the spring.
@@MANaboutTOOLS thanks for the reply and for the advice. Excellent video.👍
Where did you get the slide out converter?
amzn.to/3NKVOC9
The link you have for the converter only shows the whole set up not just a slide in converter.

I was running the AC and fridge at the same time as a test. I normally would not do that. I would run the fridge on propane if I wanted the AC on.
When I grow up I wanna be an electrician...or at least an electrical engineer

Ah yes... After that day I realized I should have tried an auto bulb. Thanks for the comment!! Kent
You could have rebuilt the camper!
Long time between videos
Yes. I've been building a structure that was a very long shoot. Editing that project now and hope to release it soon.
