Bro, that was insane!!! Thank you so much, not only for the beautiful music and the great overview of Morphagene, but also for the introduction to this incredible instrument. I came here because I thought about getting a Morphagene. Now I think about getting a Sape! xD

Thanks, man! Glad you enjoyed it! If you come to Indonesia one day, I can make one for you!
Yo this was freaking gorgeous! I’m about to be getting a morphagene real soon but I hadn’t really thought of using live instruments with it yet. Thank you very much for this video.

No worries, man! Glad you like the video. Yeah Morphagene is ace!
Thank you, a wonderful tutorial on how you use the Morphagene with an acoustic instrument, yes I agree with you, the Sape is a beautiful sounding instrument!

Cheers, Cam for the kind words! I hope you find this tutorial useful! :)
I would really like to what the stereo inputs are coming from to get the acoustic signal into the morphagene and also where the outputs are going. A lot of videos dont mention the whole cable path and what gear you are using, and this would be essential for beginners since its not always obvious. Also what type of cable or connector, TRS, TS, headphone cable, 1/4 inch 3.5 etc...

Thanks for the input, maybe I'll explain that in the next video. :)
great video. this damn thing is responsible getting into modular. so i have a system now without a morphagene in it. i just can't get one. its a fucking curse. I need this thing sooooo bad. arguably the greatest piece of gear i've ever heard in my 30 years gear experience. sitting here in studio watching beautiful videos about it its kinda sad :-( i swear, once i get it, i would never ever give it away.......ever!

It's really great piece of instrument. Let me know how your journey with it!
You honestly deserve so many more subs with content like this. I wound up with a clouds in my rack and waved goodbye to the prospect of a morphagene, to avoid too many granular functions... Now I find myself reconsidering how many is too many. Have you experimented with using some kind of footswitch to trigger the recording to keep your hands free to play? I imagine just using a clocked pulse every phrase to build upon the layers.

Hi, thanks and sorry for the late reply! Yeah that's the idea. It could be more easier if it was a pedal form. But yeah still looking find a foot switch. Do you have any suggestion?
@ @ritualelectronics Have Pointeuse in a 1U format, but I'm not aware of any of 3U modules at the moment. Something could possibly be rigged up using MI Ears, but I'm not that familiar with all of the functionality. It can generate a gate signal from an input, so maybe even a Piezo on the floor which you can tap next to for a trigger would suffice.
can you help me understand how you get the audio from the instrument into the morph? Is it going into the computer first and back out through your interface or a module? Where is the reverb along the chain?

Sure, here is my chain: from my standard instrument out, the Sape goes to a preamp (this could be anything, but I use the Valeton Acoustic pedal and use Morphagene's auto levelling the purple one - see 2:41), then I multiple the out use the converter from 1/8 to 1/4 and goes stereo into Morphagene. Then the chain from Morphagene goes to WMD Performance Mixer where I have my aux 1 (stereo send) to Endorphines Milky Way. Then the rest of the audio goes to my audio interface. Let me know if you have other questions!
Beautiful stuff. The Morphagene is such an amazing piece of kit. Can you tell me how you get the instrument into it? I see you have a couple of stackables in the Morphahene's inputs, I assume your Sape has a standard instrument out, so what are you using to go from it to the patch cables?

Couldn't agree more! Hope it's clear enough.
Where can I buy a sape'? I'm in love. I use mostly acoustic guitar and vocals in my Morphagene and I love the results. I love what you are doing here. Beautiful sounds. I use open tunings almost exclusively. I wish I had the money to get a fancy guitar with drones and a harp on it... but I have modules to buy. So, even if I could buy a sape' I probably wouldn't, but man, what a wonderful sound.

Thank you for your kind words! Nowadays the Sape is only available from a luthier in Indonesia and Malaysia, especially in Kalimantan (known internationally as "Borneo") island. Most of the musicians have made it by themselves or it is custom order. Glad you like the sound of it.
hey man im gonna get my morphagene in 2 or 3 days!! i couldn't be happier. the only thing is there is only 2 videos about how to update the firmware. eventho the morphagene has a sd card slot, you need to play a wav file on it for updating the firmware. i hate that kind of firmware installation so much. my braids and edges didn't work after that kind of procedure. do you know where i need to plug the out and input to update the firmware. i mean in those videos i see 2 patch cable left and right. those are going into my interface i imagine. but where to plug them rightfully?i can even find the corect way on the manual:-( would be great hearing from you.

Really interesting and I enjoyed it very much
Beautiful
Thank you!
As a guitar player, I'm flat out mesmerized by the uncanny lute-ness of the Sape. Such a gorgeous sound. Totally familiar, totally alien; all at once.
Couldn't agree more.
Lovely instrument
likewise...the sape has some rich ethereal sounds that are not fully harmonics but very close. Love it!
Not only did I learn about the Morphagene, I also finished the video feeling very inspired. Amazing work man, thanks
Glad to hear it, thanks Jack!
So beautiful...tremendous artistry here 💖👏
What a beautiful instrument and performance. I've watched this video multiple times now :)

That was absolutely incredible, reverb is fantastic as well.

It is very beautiful, very pleasant to listen to with an interesting demonstration. It reminds me of the music of Laraaji / Brian Eno.

Thanks! It's a powerful machine.
Amazing demonstration!
Thanks so much!
Beautiful instrument, beautiful playing. I cant wait for my Morpagene to arrive. Big learning curve but worth it.
You'll love it!
For those of you who don't speak Indo, Kalimantan is also known as Borneo. The Sape sounds delightful.
Very clear and instructive, beautiful sounds of your Sape.
Thank you, Jessica!
Really enjoyed this video for both the morphagene overview as well as your playing!
Thank you! Glad you enjoy it.
Very nice instrument and cool combinarion of classic acustic and veey modern modular tech. Lovely!

That's a serious wash of reverb. Sounds beautiful.
Thanks! Endorphines Milky Way is ace!
this sold me on morphagene... time to sell a bunch of pedals
It's a powerful instrument!
Beautiful music, excellent video tutorial .(just ordered a 2nd Morphagene). Curious, what is the Mic you are using? thanks, best wishes.
Thanks! I am using Rode NT1.
@ Thanks again.
Hey Baseput, where can i buy a Sape? Thanx
I can get it one for you!

@ Yes, thanks!
Baséput hey that’s cool ! Quick question, what’s the advantage of going stereo in here ? Your original audio is mono right ?
Beautiful! You are not only using Morohagene tho? You are using other fx Modules???
Yes, correct. I use Milky Way for the reverb and Magneto for the delay.

In the US, you can easily acquire a mountain dulcimer, which is very, very similar in conception.

You can also just e-mail Make Noise, they’ve always been super responsive and helpful
Very nice ! Just picked up the morphagene myself.. I was wondering , how are you micing or getting a signal from the sape?
Thanks! I use a preamp (GAP Pre 73) then the signal goes to my Morphagene with its internal gain applied.
This video makes me want to get morphagene and some balinese gamelan to play around with
That'd be great, Raka! Let me know once you have the Morphagene. :)
Well, that's one of the fastest like and subscribes I've done on a channel I've never seen before. Wow.
Thanks, man! Glad you like it!
👌🙏🙏🙏
Masura bagatta!
amazing! do you have a reel of your Sape?
Yep, I have to find out first!
@ Awesome, cheers - it sounds amazing
seriously, do you have recording of you playing the sape that sound like this?
I do yep, just go to my website--> www.rayhansudrajat.com
Kalimantan mana bang?
Saya dari Bandung.
what kind of mic are you using?
It was Rode NT-1.
Is the mic going straight into the modular? Just curious how ur routing all that
What is it in D Maj?
Yep, it's in D Maj pentatonic.
Hey man how are you pluggin your instrument into the the morphagene with the stackables? Where are the patch cables going to from morphagene?
Good questions! So there's a preamp from my Sape before it hits the Morphagene. I think it's a pedal.
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
