  • In this video, Hélène Vogelsinger uses the Morphagene in combination with her voice to create the foundation of a whole piece.
She starts with a simple rhythmic and tonal vocal pattern, that then evolves into deep and grainy textures.
From the Earth to the entire Universe.

She is so amazing! Her music is next level emotive! I also love that she never seems to use dedicated drums but more rhythmic synth stabs to create percussive movement. Her you tube clips also seem to just intensely grow and grow and you feel like it's Going to DROOOOOOPPPP!!! But casually swells back down to peace. Big love from Australia Hélène and make noise, huge fan of you both xxoo

That voice, what's in a name. I am always amazed by the beauty Hélène creates in these abandoned environments (this particular one looks well organized). Great demo of the Morph's power in any patch.

I'm a bit of a noob to the Modular World and the Titans that dwell inside. I've stumbled across some of her other performances and I had just thought "Okay, that's where the bar must be". I didn't realize she's the one who set it so high in the first place!

"From the Earth to the entire Universe." ... no kidding.
I was reticent to say this because it can't be said lightly. Hélène is an Instant Legend. She's doing things with sound that don't come naturally, unless to those who've been Inspired or "Hit With The Light". There are times where she's putting things together better than others, and there are times- such as in this example- she just hits the mark Totally, Encompassing EVERYTHING
If she were a painter, we'd be making comparisons between her, Raphael and DaVinci.

As always with Helene's work: Beautiful sound and versatile composition. Following the postings on instagram I was expecting some kind of tutorial, though. The morphagene truly is a great instrument on its own. Both performance and sound design shows how skilled the artists is. Nice work!

I think "building block" or perhaps "cornerstone" is the metaphor you're looking for. "Stepping stone" implies something which momentarily eases a transition between two states, whereas as this is the foundation on which the piece rests.... It's great though, whatever it is 😘

Super Cool!!! Congrats! Such a great perfomance!
I just don't get how, at 0:45 and 1:03, even if she's using a condenser mic (Liittle mikey with Phantom on), she avoids recording the sound/noise of the REC button being pressed (and the Morph knob is full CCW). Is there a kind of new "onset" trick for recording that i'm missing with my Morphagene?
Then, at after she's sampling (Rec+ splice and Rec, Rec+Splice and Rec...) at 1:24, why she press Rec+ splice at 1:50?
It's the combo button to "delete Splice", isn't it?
Hope you have time to answer me.
Anyway, great music! Thank you! D.

At 1:50 she deletes the original Splice, having recorded clips of it into shorter Splices.

This is really interesting. Could the Morphagene be used in a Hip Hop context; sequencing slices from a break over a drum machine pattern? What other modules would I need to use the Morphagene in this fashion? (assuming I already have a hardware drum machine and an external sequencer) Has anybody used the Morphagene in conjunction with Acid Rain Technology's Maestro?

What is she doing when hitting rec + splice? Can't you simply record the vocal notes, then hit splice alone to achieve the same thing?

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  3 года назад +2

She's "resampling" small portions of each note. To get the same results she gets with this alternative method you would also have to go delete a number of between-Splices afterward, whereas with her method she only has to delete the first Splice. Multiple ways to achieve the same result, and a matter of taste :)
