I feel like nations shouldn't lose cores on territory until the provinces culture has been converted, losing cores always felt strange to me. Like the people who lived there are just like "Oh well, I guess we're now X culture but we're no longer Y nation for 50 years", people don't just forget their cultures roots. If it's the same culture the core should stay.
The point being that a population's feelings towards being say Swabian would take priority over exactly *what* swabian duchy or countty. Which means so long as they're not ruled by France, they would slowly forget Baden used to be their country, since there hasn't been much change with Wurttenberg ruling them. But apparently only sigma cores of the culture's main tag will remain until there's a change of culture in the province, and with Swabian as an example i regularly see Austria own all of the region, with not a single core to release because Swabia itself is the main tag, and it of course doesn't exist. The mechanic feels under crack smh
Just in case no one has said it yet, regarding Castille guaranteeing France: I feel that ever since Domination, the AI has adopted a tactic of guaranteeing someone they want to conquer until they are ready to sometimes. It's a tactic I've used myself (e.g. to make sure that the English don't gobble up Scotland, so I can take it for myself later).
