  • As winter gave way to spring the world watched and waited as the Allied forces prepared for Operation Overlord. Brave and daring, risking all, U.S. General Dwight D. Eisenhower took charge of the campaign to deliver the fight for freedom directly to Adolf Hitler.

      McIntyreBible. I used to work with a guy (RIP Frank) who was there in North Africa. He said he saw Monty many times and while hindsight showed that Monty wasn't the brilliant military strategist history has claimed, he did inspire his men, addressing them personally.

    Wendell Fertig had been commissioned as a Lt. Colonel in the Army so he wasn't really a civilian when he assumed the mantle of General in charge of US Army Forces in the Philippines after the surrender by Lt. General "Skinny" Wainwright.

    Em 21:32 é que o documentário começa a fica interessante (e recebeu meu like), saindo dos acontecimentos militares (que já são bem batidos) para mostrar como uma guerra realmente é vencida: com a economia.
    As forças armadas alemãs eram as melhores do mundo, mas ter alinhadas as produções industriais de UK, US e URSS contra si, era questão de tempo até a matemática se mostrar implacável.
    É isso, amigos. A matemática da economia venceu a guerra, não o Inverno ou uma dúzia de batalhas, que foram onde o que era produzido foi aplicado.

    The Soviets didn't give away Czechoslovakia to the Nazis, Britain and France did. Stalin proposed confronting Hitler, but those paragons of duplicity Britain and France chose to appease the Nazis.
    Look at British and French crimes and oppression in their colonies, and you realise that the difference between them and the Nazis was not that great.
    The script writer(s) and the narrator need to pull their heads out of their butts.

    Получается Черчилль выиграл один войну 😂. СССР потерял 29 миллионов. Котлы в Сталинграде, в Корсуне, в Яссах, в Белоруссии не в счёт. В степях Курска сколько техники перемолотили. Можно долго перечислять. Мой дед лежал в госпитале, приезжала супруга Черчилля дарила пежаму, дома до сих пор где-то лоскуты полосатые лежат. Считаю, что Гитлер и Сталин не были союзниками, а, скорее партнёрами. На счёт Польши, была линия Кёрзона. Считаю, что победили все вместе.

    Patton was a loose canon also. Always wanting to make himself " the great leader of military persons". Lots of people i have spoke to about Patton was not like at all as miltary history suggests. It was a fact that The Narzi were worried about Patton holding the Comanders postions like he did.
    By and large most of Monty's men did like him and Monty did comand American troops. This was very unusaul for The Americans to allow this.

    90 % of all of victims of the Second world war took place in Russia. The whole continental Europe, an army of 5 million soldiers attacked the Soviet Union. The numbers of victims on the western front and in Pacific area are laughable in comparison.

      Because russia were weak , Stalin sent sindiers to the grinder because he only had numbers , americans and British were strong liberaring all arab and Áfrican countries , asian countries and pacífica islands with tatics not because numbers ... United states had Military bases in Russian terriroty sending food and ammo to russia ...
      Remember Stalin asked for help to América and british after Stalin and Hitler invaded poland togather opening jews camps there ...😏

      @@nistaffsubs6787 You are totally wrong. The Soviets cared about every soldier and Stalin was very competent military leader. All European industry worked for the Nazis. There were thousands of volunteers, the armies of Italy, Romania, Hungary, Finland, Slovakia were fighting side by side with the Germans. 10 million of them were victims of war. On the Soviet side majority of victims were civilians because the Nazis and Fascist took their food.

    It was America that turned the tide of both ww1 and ww2. With the man power and brain power and building power. The soviets would have lost too if it wasnt for American engineering ingenuity. America sent prefabricated tank factorys and armorys.
