    Nice! I'lll be going to Knowledge fest in july :)
    And that sounds good stereo honda was at Master Tech Expo a few months ago and sounds insane. Apparently the way the amp rack was built over the enclosure turns the whole enclosure into a 4th order when the hatch is closed. I dont know enough about box building to comprehend that one but it's really cool haha

      The vehicle it’s self is technically an enclosure it’s self. So it’s like Cars that have a ported enclosure, when you roll the windows down/open a door/ etc, you effectively now have a 6th order.
      Enclosure science is absolutely mind blowingly deep

    What’s the best compact sub in your opinion? I want to get one for my wife’s GMC Terrain. It’s got a small factory sub in the back but it ain’t worth a crap… They’ve got a power acoustik 8” compact subwoofer at Walmart… I don’t know what good name brands are nowadays…😂

    • @radfishguy6784

      Jl audio stealthbox. Pricey but worth every penny

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 Месяц назад +2

      If you're looking at Walmart, you probably don't want the best compact sub, because that would cost you over $1,000. I don't think you'd want the JL Audio stealthbox either since it's a sealed sub. One of the issues of large SUVs is that you get cancellation in the upper base frequencies. My Navigator is a little bigger than the Terrain but when I look at the frequency response any sub you put in the back is going to start rolling off the upper frequencies around 45 Hertz. Since the Terrain is a little smaller it might play up to 55 HZ or so. Sealed boxes tend to roll off under 40 HZ or so. So if you put a sealed sub in the back you're going to get a lot of middle bass energy and not much else. Is sort of sounds like one note bass. Is that the sound you're experiencing?
      I'd recommend a ported enclosure that's tuned fairly low. Something like a single 10 that's tuned to around 27 or 30 HZ and a small amp that can give it at least a few hundred watts. That's going to sound a lot more musical and the low frequencies are going to be a lot of fun. If you're looking for a lot of bass then maybe a single 12 with a bigger amplifier that's matched to it.

      @jimmywilson1388 Месяц назад

      @@JasonWW2000 Thanks for the info… Yes, the factory sub is like it only plays one frequency or something…😆 It’s terrible, I don’t want to put a sundown 8” in it or anything but something with a little more punch than that factory crap… Don’t get me wrong I’d love to have a sundown sub in it but our daughter plays travel softball and we need all the room we can get… Plus my wife just doesn’t listen to music the way I do… Lmao I just want something a little more decent that I don’t have to pay more than 250 for or something…

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 Месяц назад

      @@jimmywilson1388I don't know of any cheap and easy fix for your situation. My best recommendation would be to use the factory 8 inch sub and amp and have a custom ported enclosure built for it.
      Pretty much all the pre-made ported boxes are going to be tuned high, like 40 to 45 Hz, which is not what you want.
      You might be able to find a premade ported box with a port that you could extend to tune it lower.
      Or you might be able to find a sealed 8 inch box that's on the large size such as 0.8 to 1.0 cu ft and then add a 2.5" pvc or 3" port kit from parts express. Then you can tune it lower. That would be low budget.
      The next upgrade would be to add a very small aftermarket amplifier so that you could have a bass knob up front.
      If you overpower the factory sub to the point of burning it up, then you could upgrade to an aftermarket 8 inch sub.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 Месяц назад +1

      You might even consider adding a 2" external port to the factory sealed enclosure. If it can give you some lower bass frequencies then you wouldn't lose any cargo space. Just a thought.

    I’m a little confused by the wiring diagram of that first truck. They ran the midbass and tweeter off the same amp channel with what appears to be a passive crossover, while giving the midranges their own dedicated channel? What an odd way to set it up.

    • @DIYAudioGuy
      @DIYAudioGuy  Месяц назад

      Yep. The front channels are running the speakers in the a-pillars, with a passive crossover. The rear channels are running the mid-bay speakers and the doors.

Justin did not show all the vehicles that were there so you rightfully can't say that none of those people have the same taste as you. If you could have seen all the vehicles I'm sure you would have found some that you approve of.
