Im new with a 30w JPT Fiber from Cloudray , so I'm running EZ cad2. So to engrave multiple items (with same logo etc...) in 1 production run, you can just do a copy function and place the copy's wherever in the workspace? I have a lot of bullet casings I want to do for a local Veterans group and being able to do 6 or 9 in a run (170×170mm work area for my lens) would be a great time-saver.
Yes, copy and paste works fine inside EZCAD. You may have to use multiple settings to get a desired outcome on brass though, it’s a different beast all together. You may have to use one setting for the cut in a second setting to brighten it up! Have fun and be safe!
I'm confused why you're having to line up the elements of the engraving. I thought that the entire point of having a jig was so that everything on your screen is automatically aligned to the jig. Is this the first time using the jig, or were you not able to position the jig where you previously set it up? I'm looking into purchasing a fiber laser, and I'm just trying to understand. Thank you.
Hi i would like to replicate your project to customise my zippo and i would like like to know if it was possible to get the plan or the inkscape file of your zippo holder? if it was possible it would help me a lot. Have a nice day
Hey Connor thanks for watching! Yes I can do photos but it really depends on what I’m engraving. I have yet to do a photo on a zippo but I can’t imagine that would be an issue.
Thanks! Yeah, it's hard sometimes when it gets busy in the shop to get the videos shot. Many times the customer is over our shoulder watching and/or the product has personal info on it which I tend to not post or video.
Hello! I currently have a foxalien Reizer and mine has a horrible frame set up in lasergrbl. When you’re able to have the entire set up like the rectangle frame before engraving, is that because of the laser or the program? It would make life so much easier!
Not sure how I missed your question. It’s due to the software. EZCAD2 sends the info to the laser with proper settings. The new Lightburn for galvos can do the same thing, with an extra outline ability.
I bought an aftermarket, fancy, high tech, expensive…. piece of crap. 🤣 Then I switched to the one that came with the laser, built an acoustic box for noise suppression and all is good! I’m unsure of the air it moves but it works great. I can even use it as I use two lasers.
It’s a silk stocking from the dollar tree. It’s just a quick filter for the solid particles before they enter my exhaust fan and ruin it. Thanks for watching!
Trial and error really. Sourcing is always a battle to find the right price. Look online and in stores for the best deals. Amazon, eBay, etc…just make sure you are buying authentic merchandise!! There are lots of fakes out there.
I noticed you use fume extraction. Can you explain the chemical composition of the dust you removed from the surface with the blue towel after engraving? It is my understanding engraving removes a chromium oxide layer from the surface. Chemically speaking, what happens to that layer during engraving and what is the chemical composition of the dust seen after engraving?
You have entered weeds in which no man has entered before. 🤣😳 No sir, the only thought I’ve given to the dust is wether to use a wipe or air to remove it.
Well I have many questions: How do you fit grafics to size of zippo? What software do u use? How powerful Is your laser? How much power do u use. Is all engarvings require same power on laser? How do you position grafics on zippo????
Well my particular laser projects an image onto the surface and with him engraving. So it’s easy for me to size the image according to what I’m engraving. Your laser may be different and you may have to measure or use some other method. I use a 30 W fiber laser and my settings will be different from yours. Engravings will require various settings depending on what your engraving, how deep you wanna go, and the desired outcome. Practice, practice, and write down your settings.
Hi! Great video. I got a question. Could you pls see the manekineko zippo design. What is the process? Im curious. Is that laser etching? If yes, how did they put the colours on? Thanks in advance
The more you do, the more you learn. I use two different settings. One to blast the top coat off and the second to engrave until I feel it looks best. I was not looking to accomplish any specific depth. Hope that helps!
People asked this a lot and it’s kind of the same answer. I’m not blowing anybody off but all the settings vary from laser to laser. All I can say is start out with understanding what your focal distance is and vary in speed in power and you will figure out the best setting for your machine. Again, I’m not blowing you off or your question but that really is the answer. The upside to that is when finding the best setting for different materials you’ll really get to know your laser and its capabilities! Congrats on a 50 watt fiber laser. They’re not cheap and they’re super fun!
@@1441engraving I have also a 50 Watt Raycus Fiber Laser that I'm using for cutting and marking gold and silver. And of course the first question is when you see such beautiful and interesting video "Which Settings are you using to get such good results!?" I think nobody wanna hear your answear but indeed it's the right answear! Thanks for sharing your work with ohers and all the best.
I'm not sure what pictures you are referring to. The images that I use are for government employees and I don't share them. You may be able to find them elsewhere if you look though. ;)
Yes, but it is w of a landing page to direct to our Instagram account. We also sell on Etsy and eBay… Amazon as well but they are a PITA. Our website is www.1441engraving.com
Great tip on the dry eraser. I just got a laser and was struggling with Lining things up.
Great to hear it! Easy little trick that can save a boat load of time.

How clear can you engrave? Could you engrave photos or just logos?

Nice engrave, why you did it 4 times ? looking for a better shine? or a depth engrave ? thanks a lot
Yes, just making sure to burn all the coding off and it’s the actual metal beneath it.
