      Please stop promoting Portugal internationally as an ideal place to buy homes🇵🇹 as it is negatively affecting my people. There is a direct link with the Airbnb, Golden Visas and Digital Nomads and the prices of homes all over Portugal. Proof of it is the fact that even the Portuguese government pretended to fix it with a new bill that they passed last July called “home for all” which still favours Golden Visas and Digital Nomads holders over their native Portuguese. Portuguese are now starting to see rich foreigners who are buying our homes on the international house market as the source of the rising houses and rental prices. How can we compete with rich foreign who are buying our homes with our minimum salaries of €760 a month?!!!! The sad reality that Golden visa holders know that they benefit of free movement all over Europe when they buy a Portuguese home above a certain price, so the house prices were forcefully inflated to accommodate the value that guarantee them the status of Golden visa. Furthermore, as they all automatically get a Portuguese passport after 5years , which grants them free access to many countries without any commitment, really. They only have to stay 7days in the country a year to apply for a Golden visa, but they are allowed to affect the house market, our life style and our power of acquisition permanently. We live in a country with portuguese salaries, but our houses are on an international market, that is problem. In addition to this, our elderly people were forced out of their rental properties in the historic centres of cities such us Lisbon, Sintra, Porto, Faro, Coimbra , Braga, Funchal, Ponta Delgada,Setubal, etc. This has killed our heritage, culture and social fabric to accommodate a superficial postcard tourism that has nothing to do with us Portuguese.

    4:50 - Farmers' market products are not tax-free, you do pay the same taxes that you pay for the supermarket products. The lower prices on some of the farmers' market products are not from not having taxes, they're due to being self-produced by the seller or for being locally sourced. 🙂

      @relaxinportugal  Год назад

      Interesting point of view. I’ve never had any of the people at the market charge or include tax on the produce they grow in their small farms. I much prefer to support them over the bigger supermarkets when I can.

    If you use a dehumidifier it makes a difference if you are close to the coast. Often the damp makes everything feel even colder. It also helps prevent mold from building up.
    Portable dehumidifiers aren't too expensive, and you can move them around if a particular part of you place needs some extra help.

    • @relaxinportugal
      @relaxinportugal  Год назад

      Great advice! I think dehumidifiers are essential up here. Mine runs constantly through the whole winter.

    hi, nice videos. in EU wherever you go you pay the price that shows, there is not added taxes:hooping, restaurants, cafe, markets and so on. I lived 2 years in the north, in Braga and yes, better paying more for possible central heating8few but there are) apt or a renovated one that certainly has A/C inverter. Now I have been living 4 years in the Algarve and even here, a north exposition of the house can be cold and humid. I bought an apt south facing and it is a great difference!

      Thank you for your kindness! It's kind of amazing how different it can be living in different parts of a country that is really quite small and yet location and position of your home really matters when it comes to the interior feel. Creating comfort and staying warm in the colder months sometimes takes a bit more consideration here than in other parts of the world. Once you get it figured out, it's so worth it!!

    So a 2T in Portugal means a 2 bedroom appartment (T is for appartment, V means it's a detached house). Thanks for the Info ! Portugal is alot cheaper than France where i am....

    To be honest, $250 a pair of regular eye glasses is still way overpriced. You can get one for less than $20 easily anywhere in asia. I think you shall be able to find similar deals somewhere in euro.

      I’m so happy to hear that you’re preparing for the big move too! Thank you for your kind words. I’ve got lots more coming. I came over from Denver and now live far in the north. It’s cooler and wetter here. The weather is a lot like Seattle up here. Likely not your place. The south is much drier and hotter. Lots of great spots down there too! Depending on what you’re looking for you could also check out Setubal.

    • @laurap.5804
      @laurap.5804 Год назад

      @@relaxinportugal do please consider that Setubal has, I think, the only polluted beach such as Troia as it is a continuously coming and going of ships due to lots of shipyards. I went there, nice city of course, but realize not an healthy environment. for me at least. Also about transportation, if over 65 people get 50% discount!

    Thank you for this video. I’ll be visiting Portugal for the first time in October. Can’t Wait to go because I’m also curious of how things are over there. I have been mulling over a move to Europe and just weighing my options. In the meantime though I will be going like I said in October, does it get chilly around that time? The Airbnb I’m staying at doesn’t provide heating. I wanna make sure that I come with warmer pjs if necessary.

      I’m super excited for you. You will learn so much during this discovery phase that you’re in right now. I too looked all over Europe and beyond. There are so many wonderful places. I’m grateful that I found the perfect place for me.
      It can get chilly in October. I would bring something warm to sleep in, although you may not need it. You never know. Always good to have cuddly stuff with you. It really depends a lot on where you will be. There are lots of different climates here. Where will you be?

    Housing is way cheaper if you own instead of renting the poverty factor was from French napoleon invasion and British payments and from American and Russian cold War world manipulation factors

    • @relaxinportugal
      @relaxinportugal  Год назад

      It’s true, but you still have to have the cash up front for the down payment and not everyone has that.
