Just some background info and fun facts that may help give perspective to why this moment is so important: Although Dr. Dre did not actually start hip-hop music (early Bronx, New York native rappers from the late 1970s and early 1980s started the style of music), he did help create and produce a style of rap that came out of California which sound nothing like the east coast (New York, sound). NWA (which included Dr. Dre- a producer turned rapper ) was the first recognized west coast rap group which first appeared in the early 1990s. Another fact is that Eminem was not the first white rapper. Vanilla Ice (one of my favorite early 90s rappers) was the first nationally recognized white rapper. "Ice, Ice Baby" is my favorite track from him. Another fact is Mary J. Blige (an R&B singer) released her first album in the early 1990s. She is an R&B singer from New York and is known by fans as the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul because her r&b music music had a lot of Hip Hop beat elements which was a new style of rhythm and blues. Dr. Dre and these artists would be like watching YG bring his big artists and and also performing with Seo Taiji and Boys as well. Kinda to put things into a closer perspective.
You asked what they all had in common, well there was more than one thing going on. Rap is about messages and telling stories. So the commonality is not just in location, or the fact that they are all GOATS. It was also in the messaging. Look at what songs were performed, cloths worn, stances taken, and the messages behind them and you will find your answer. "Easter eggs" that may be hard to understand Snoops out fit , Em's kneeling, Crip walking, positive messages include, Hip Hop and football have always been together, Black People have made it to the top and no one can deny that's where we belong anymore ,No matter what's happening we are family,we know it's hard but TPTB can no longer hide what they have been doing,we are going to be alright, We are stronger together than apart, keep reaching for the stars, Love Thy Neighbor... that's the short list ...The half time show inspired the team, and then..... we won the Superbowl
I was about to say, all these artists OWE their careers due to Dr Dre...that's why they're there because Dre asked them to perform together Know your History
@@kayk9895 I lived that history, it's a shared history, JayZ was behind the scenes making it happen. Just because I didn't mention all that was going on doesn't mean I don't know it. Like I said there was a LOT going on more than one thing. I was there when rap started with the DOZENS, I was living in Venice Beach back when We were having dance battles back then that was Crip territory. Ice T used to perform at the street scene. I lived that Aftermath West Coast history it was my time and my home don't you presume to school me on my past or my life style and you might want to learn to read because I did say there was a lot going on by no means could anyone be able to write down all that led up to that SB moment

He cut his performance down a little bit so 50 could perform . Also I think it is in Detroit Eminem has his own restaurant called mom spaghetti
Just saw this today. You guys are amazing. ILoved your reaction to this. I was in my early 20s when all of these artists were just coming up. Yes, it was a "Dre Day" for sure! Dre produced on all the songs that were performed..plus of course it began..and ended with Dre...which was kind of the point. :) I loved what you said about K-Hip-hop and Hip-Hop. Dr. Dre, and Snoop fall under an even narrower umbrella in Hip-Hop. They are Gangsta Rap, Hip-Hop and R&B. But, as the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame decided..they Rock..Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and Eminem, and I think Mary J too have all been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They are legendary!
You guys are more knowledgeable about these artists then a lot of people here in the US. You got it right away their set in Compton..nice job. And yes, Eminem had 50 Cent's back to sign with Dre. You guys are true Hip Hop fans!!
Neither of them knew Mary J. name (that's a sin) they never say her name once during her performance. Only calling Mary "she", complimenting her voice control (her control is one of Mary's hallmark) and wondering if she was an actress. Also they stated that Eminem is hip hop (Em is very much apart of hip hop) but not the culture. To me both of them have limited knowledge of these artist. Especially since they couldn't grasp the connection between these artist.

I kid you not I had tears in my eyes 😭.. it was music 🎼!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 the kind of music we probably won't get again in our lifetime. I had goosebumps all over.. I remember trying to record some of those songs on my cassette tapes 😂
The best halftime everrrr
This is the same venue BTS did their US show in LA at recently. Having been there, I can say there’s not a bad seat in the house. What legends they are though, every single one! Such a great halftime show!
Lauren, can you confirm if the sound system at SoFi was as bad as some people said? It was a legendary halftime show!
@@fy3845 it depended on what section you were in. The first night I heard there were issues, that they couldn’t hear army? But i could hear the music fine on nights 2 and 3, but I couldn’t really hear cheering from outside of my own section. Acoustics were a little weird, but it was fine for a concert. Maybe the speakers aren’t the same for a halftime show though?
Since K hip hop is so huge I was hoping to see some K artists reactions to this legendary half time show.
This was the music that had us in the club; going to the club; coming from the club; thinking about what we were going to do in the club & thinking about what we did in the club!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
it was off beat for a second because it looks like they edited out where snoop says sh*t lol snoop say "you still doing this sh*t"
Nope, that's just Dre's genius of keeping things interesting
mmm! no that would be a shitty editing, and that wld also mean that it was a live on the spot editing which would mess up already perfected sequence.
editing has evovled more than that, they tried a different drum beat timing, it was not off per say, it was just unexpected, but as you see they were on time with it
@@hechpee i saw it live he said sh*t
This was the first time hip hop music was performed like this at the halftime show! And man did it piss a lot of people off 🤣
When you ask about the map on the floor watch the first few seconds of the video Dre had the layers of Compton in his palm and also, its Dre day
I think the relation between dre and the artists are he either have signed those artist or produced for them
True. But all these artist, Dre signed, or produced for them.
I was about to say, all these artists OWE their careers due to Dr Dre...that's why they're there because Dre asked them to perform together
Know your History
@@kayk9895 Except Mary. She was already established when she and Dre Linked up
@@kayk9895 I lived that history, it's a shared history, JayZ was behind the scenes making it happen.
First commentary that noticed the playing field was a street map of Compton.!
Yeah, the map (floor) is L.A/Compton area, and the Tam's burgers (soo yum), After dark etc, are supposed to be like a certain block of their neighborhood (where they grew up of course. Now they're likely in the richest neighborhood hehe)
I love how every reaction I watch without fail is like 50 FAT lol
I loved your reaction!
I grew up on all these artists (except Kendrick), and it was such a great show 💗✊️
Fun fact: the song that Dre was playing on the piano was I Ain't Mad at Cha by Tupac Shakur
올해도 볼수 있었으면 좋겠네~~dr. dre 너무 좋아
Mary J Blige is the Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul & R-n-B. She’s acting more now. I impressed by their knowledge of hiphop artists.
Naw Lauren hill is better but she’s still really good
@@wmskslspsk There’s no such thing as better when they all have their own lane. If they were all in the same lane then Whitney Houston would be the only singer and there wouldn’t be a Lauryn Hill, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Mary, Toni B or any other female singer or sanger.
This was fire 🔥! All the songs and the artists that I grew up knowing... I miss those days!
You guys should react to other Iconic superbowl halftime shows like MJ and Prince and so much more🔥🔥🔥🔥Loved your reaction to the rap and hip hop legends🔥💜
The moment Eminem takes a knee and Dre starts Playing the intro to "I ain't mad at ya" is a tribute to 2Pac.....loved the whole show but that was my favorite moment
I loved your reaction. I will definitely be watching more of your videos.

Dre is the connection
50 cents and Eminem ❤🎉 globally.
50 cents was a surprise guest
The dancer, the dancers are outstanding. And the women!! My God, they are gorgeous 😍 ❤
I don't know if it was fif it was 50 or Eminem that wanted him to perform or Dre at the Super Bowl. But Eminem's performance was cut short to make room for 50 cent his buddy. He cut his performance down a little bit so 50 could perform . Also I think it is in Detroit Eminem has his own restaurant called mom spaghetti
I agree Kendrick Lamars Humble would have been dope
I enjoyed these guys. They were feeling the music
😍
The 1 thing that they have in common is Dre
That little transition piece of Dr. Dre playing the piano while Eminem kneels down comes from Tupac's I ain't mad at cha...12:26
Stop lying
Omg I love y’all and this reaction! Too funny!
BTS held their PTD concert at this stadium in December. The top of the dome displays the performance to the planes that fly in to LAX.
The part that sounded off beat at 13.20 was actually censored lol Snoop Dogg said “I see still doing that shit Andre?” Lol
It was cool that Dre did a in memoriam for Tupac's California Love
Great reaction.
