- Join us on our narrowboat as we leave the Oxford canal and start our cruise on the Lechlade arm of the Thames.

I QSSUME THE TESCO MAN FINALLY FOUND YOU...SURPRISINGLY NICE SCENERY...
OMG! Your dogs are hilarious! Doing a "nut run" is what we call that!
🤣😂
My first narrowboat experience was on that stretch of the Thames then back to Oxford an on to Abingdon. Got hooked myself but my wife and kids prefer the sun by a beach. So my next trip was a boys jolly on the Oxford canal...love the way of life!
We had enough of the hot beaches, they do get boring after a while
I used to live near Lechlade very nice to see it again.
Thanks❤️
Nothing more romantic and lovely than floating together....
Life jackets as an anniversary gift is a great idea as opposed to buying each other presents that will hang in a closet or be stuck in a drawer.
Love your life jackets. Happy Anniversary
❤️
That roundhouse at Inglesham (12.02) marks the entrance to the Thames and Severn canal, the restored lock of which is just past the bridge you can see in the background. The restoration of the canal currently under way is going to take a good few years before navigation will be possible.
Charles Bennett Heritage Railways. Nice bit of info, thanks👍 Have you been on the Poppy Line From Sheringham to Holt?
@@welldeckdiaries5610 Hello. The Poppy Line is on my to do list. Will get there eventually.
What a beautiful area. Sorry started at you beginning. Just a couple years behind lol.
Thanks
Very lovely video. :) peace
Some lovely video of the scenery, great work! Thoroughly enjoying your travels
Many thanks Kev
Greetings from Phoenix, Arizona USA. Loved the trip, more drone shots. I love the countryside, so peaceful there. Certainly no rush hour on the rivers.
I used to love mooring up anywhere on the Thames, God willing I will again...
hope you do 👍
Looking like proffesionals with the mae wests on.
Richard Earthy felt nice and safe with them on
nice music.
Thanks
thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable and an outstanding video , especially from the drone
Very interesting to see the training at the start of the video.
thanks 😄👍
Lovely vlog Alan thanks
hi Alan and Debbie I don’t known how far you want to go into In to Oxford but if you go as far as Enslow there is a Pub called the Rock of Gibraltar right by the Canal where there places to hook up to get there it north of the City David Chave
👍🍺
Spot on for me people as I intend to give the Thames to Lechlade ago in the summer your vlog got me to thinking that I should get myself a new life jacket, never bothered on the canals but a river can be more problematic me thinks.
Kevin. We also made sure our anchor was at the ready in case of anything serious like an engine or gear box failure.
The last thing you want is to get dragged downstream towards a weir 😱
Whenever I'm on a river & have to use mooring stakes, I always drop the anchor as well, in case a stake comes out.
Andy Aldrich good tip 👍
Lovely! Romantic lifejackets. You are fantastic to find the nice "bits n' pieces"
Thank you! 😊
It’s amazing that the pub can leave their chairs outside all winter, it’s a wonder some kids haven’t used them for a bonfire. 😱
Think the kids are all inside playing on their games consuls
Great video, you are both getting into your stride with drones, humour and story telling ....
Yes the Thames was a bit tricky, glad you are back on a canal , also don’t get too low on the GIN next time
Once again guys great video
Phew 😅. That was all a bit tense and exciting at times. Really enjoyable and a very happy pearl wedding anniversary to you both. 😁😁
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
Congratulations on your pearl necklace...I mean wedding anniversary!...lol. Have a lovely pint on me. Great vid as usual guys.
HA HA, didnt think it would be long before someone mentioned jewellery 😂. Thanks for the pint
It is a long time ago since I was on the Thames, if I remember correctly it can be hard work outside of the main summer month.
Happy Anniversary! Good choice of presents!
thank you👍
Deb, you and your hubs always look so sharp. I credit you and your ironing, the only iron on the Cut. Never see you in the same outfit twice. Where do you store your vast wardrobe?
Maybe you could include a map in your vlogs to show your route!......brilliant vlogs!
Im looking into how to do it 👍
Hey guys do you have a link for the life jackets? We need to get a couple very soon. The Thames is a beast even on the not so angry bits. Looks like you have mastered it 😉
Colin M got ours here
Crewfit 165N Sport Auto (Non-Harness) Life Jacket - Navy Blue 9010NBA www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00U05ON94/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4ghVCbSEBEFVA
Good video, brought back lots of memories, first did that stretch in 1975 in a 16ft Dolphin, about the same time of year, I picked sloes at the Maybush. We did if again in 1976, the drought!, I lock and hour and they had pumps pushing water back over the weirs, it was so hot and the boat had no bathroom, we chatted up the girls in the Rose Revived (across from the Maybush) and had a 'pint and a bath)...............Happy days. I thought those jackets needed a 'crotch strap'. Excellent drone shots, which brand of drone?.Paintwork OK....
you sure Cpt debbs was leaning for ballast ,not suffering from excessive delivery of tescos fermented juniper berry based beverages ? thank you for another great vid ,loved the doggo cam interlude ,happy Easter to yous all
thanks, I think you've worked out our stability problems 😂😂😂
Right nice pint ????
Mike Browster it was only when i uploaded and watched it I realised i had left it out of the edit 🍺😳
Probably a very silly question, if you have a split gate?? how do you get across to the other one when you've opened the first side - do you just go to the other set? BTW -- getting each other life jackets is better than getting each other life insurance!!!
Kate RH Once you’ve opened one side you walk to the opposite end of the lock and walk across the set of gates that are closed and then return to open the other side. You can actually get a narrowboat through with one gate open but I prefer to have both open, it gives a little more room for error.
Thanks for watching
M&D
Tell me did Tesco delivery you orders like You bottles of Gin ?
john allen full weekly shop including Gin and Beer👍
When you went on the thames did you pay a fee and how. Asking from australia.
Did you get your Tesco delivery?
Yes we did 👍
What happens if your in a 48 hour mooring spot, then bad weather totally freezes the canal over, say a good CM or more thick?
Most of the mooring 48 hour and 7 day moorings change to 14 day winter moorings between 1st Nov & 31 March,so that’s when you’re more likely to be frozen in.
But even so, the C&RT are fairly lenient and wouldn’t expect you to move if frozen in
LOL, NAVIGATOR -BLE .
🤣
