@Cough4Times They havent announced previous keyboard support for sure yet, but they have stated that you CAN play the guitar and bass parts on the keyboard
@ilikecheetos12 Actually if I understand correctly, the game supports more than 2 octaves (via the sliding left and right) its the keyboard thats only a 2 octave (due to its small size obviously), but Im not entirely sure though.
@Jaramide Yeah, I thought of that, too. I don't know if it's even possible, but it would be nice if there was some sort of option where you could see a staff with the actual notes of the song running left to right below the vocal track.
@NoNameLikeThisOne Then again, Accordian Hero is about to be worked on. Now we can play Polka hits like "Play That Funky Polka Black Boy" and "Shake Shake You Sousaphone."
@ald0sco Did you not watch the video? Looks to me like one of the big selling points of having an entirely fretted controller was so they could teach you the chords and what not. Personally, that sounds like an unnecesary lot of involvement just for a casual game.
I think a lot of people who bash this forget that the makers of Rock Band play real instruments. It's not like they don't know what they're talking about. They designed this game to help players learn real instruments WHILE having fun at the same time. Hence, why they planned this for 2 years.
@JoshEatCake the reason why people are unhappy with it is because, in the previous modes of guiltar hero the highest difficulty is expert. now that there is a harder mode (Pro Mode) the fans will not get the satisfaction of beating the game until they can complete pro mode, and lets face it unless you can play a real guitar its not going to be an easy task for you. what do you expect people would rather beat the game without having to try as hard as the last game they played. so they give up.
@ZexionAxzura yea the drums are big but the cymbals are same as the 3 drums: yellow, blue and green. and the notes are still4 in the game, and the and the color changes funcion from cymbal to drum dependin on the song. in gh the cymbals and drums where assigned to different colors and it doesnt change no matter the song, more realistic
Im dying to try the keyboard... i have played piano for a few years too so I kinda understand why Norm complains about the screen shifting to the side.. i do see it being somewhat confusing. I still wanna give it a go tho :)
@Awesomeaphobic haaa thats what im going to do too...ive been playing for 10 years, but it will look a lil funny having an 88 key keyboard with a game that can only do two octaves. But it will save me 150 bucks since i already got the keyboard. You will need that madcatz accesory to play. I think its 40 bucks, but it can hook up an electronic drum set too.
@Watlolwutlol N-no... The point of pro mode is that you actually will have some real experience playing the instrument. It won't help them read sheet music, I suppose, but they actually might just know how to play. With the normal gameplay and controllers, I can see where you're coming from, but with pro mode, you seem to be back asswards.
They probably could come out with a music game for wind instruments. You would just need a touchscreen that is inside of the mouthpiece of the controller, and for the buttons, well they already did that.
@pomssi1 Really? You mean like your own regular guitar? How will that work? If this is true then I duess I will be using my own guitar for Pro Mode as well
The real guitar for RB3 has buttons, the one for Power Gig has actual strings. But on the other hand, the one with buttons would make it easier to play lefty.
@nkeroulis i play drums, oboe, a little flute, guitar (and im good as hell on it) spoons (bet ya never heard that one!) and i sing. but pubirty is fucking up my voice
@EyEPood True, but this way you don't actually have to be able to play guitar or be in a band, to play a guitar and be in a band... or play a piano, or drums, or sing (but please don't sing if you can't sing at all). Instruments are more of a discipline than just fun... Games are just for fun. So comparing mw2 to being in a real war is also pretty silly, and probably not much fun without the respawns.
Having played the piano for a number of years, I'm interested to see how well the keyboard holds to the songs. RB is going for a different direction as far as how realistic it is and I can respect that. All these things considered however, I'm not expecting it to be an accurate note-for-note lesson on how to play an instrument. You can't play a Hendrix song a few times and consider yourself on his level. Does that mean I'm bashing the game? No. It's a game. No more, no less. Lets have fun, eh?
YAY, finally something that should be as fun as Beatmania IIDX is comming for american players! i'm not saying that i don't like RB, I LOVE IT my point is that Beatmania IIDX is so fun and addicting, but is so unknown here in america, its technically impossible to find a IIDX machine in Brazil, i'm looking forward to play this! on beatmania, 7-keys is kind of confusing when you are learning, but imagine the whole keyboard!!! this is just going to be awesome!!!!
@CiseDj "People" play video games because it's a hobby. Just like people who like to watch movies, party, listen to music, etc. Everyone has different preferences.
@CiseDj I admit that kids and adults alike can get addicted to video games. Maybe to the point of not doing what's important. Work, school, etc. For many it's a hobby and since their are so many genres of games, it's hard not to get bored of them. If your in the mood for a fighter, shooter, or action/adventure game, it would be the same as picking up a favorite film of your choice and watching it. As for the whole "Gamer" title and people calling themselves that... is just silly lol.
Yeah, even for a real piano player there is probably something of a adjustment period before you can come to grips with how the game want's you to read the notes.
the whole fun of guitar hero is so that you can look at the notes coming down the neck and know what to hit easily, this looks impossible to read if you don't know the song on real guitar
@EyEPood But that's where everyone is heading. They're trying to make things more realistic. Have you thought of the Eye Toy, Six Axis, PS Move, MS Kinect, even 3D TV supported games. Even go back to a Joystick, or a miniature steering wheel. In essence, games based on REAL things, (ie. COD, Rock Band, Sports etc..) are becoming more realistic. Besides graphics, science fiction games, or zombie games etc.. can't become more real.
No. A trumpet and a violin will not come out next. Obviously. A Keyboard is a common instrument in a real life Rock Band. It is possible they will come out with a synthesizer however.
@lucashp550 You also compare the fun of playing instruments to the fun of being in the army... ... I'm going to assume that you don't play any instruments.
@Chefodeath @Chefodeath dude, its not about rockband teaching us to play the real guitar, im a ''real'' guitar player and it would be really retarded if they teach you how to play instruments this way.......its just the fact that u can use a real guitar for use on the game..... its feels new, and you dont have to spend money on plastic shit.....
@lucashp550 but what they are trying to say is that they made the emulation device so real that it is more practical to pick up a guitar and just play that instead. the ps3 and xbox controllers offer nothing near the real thing of fighting a war; for one, you respawn.
I love the rock band keyboard, but i can comfortably say that "rock band 3 pro mode" doesn't teach you much of anything about the real instrument except MAYBE some finger positions. . . with one hand.
I'm Digging This Pro Mode and the New Instruments are cool more realistic and I think you can use the guitar outside the video game. The only concern that I have Is that this Pro Mode is going to be a little challanging which is going to piss alot of people off. Why hell I can just barely play on easy.But in the end I feel it all should be worth it if you stick with it. Cuz you be a real musician and not just some loser playing pretend. lol
Hmm...I'm going to buy this game, get my trumpet and french horn friends together, and re-create the song- triage at dawn...because I can honestly say, I can't afford real instruments EXCEPT that real guitar for the game...
@ShutTheHellUp911 AMEN! If some little kid claims he's a real rock star after mastering GH, fine, smack him in the head. But I hate when my friends (I'm 22) claim that the game is nothing like reality (because in his mind he's a guitar GOD apparently) and it's so stupid, that I should focus more on my actual guitar. I got news for you, I DONT CARE! I play RB for fun, not to learn how to really play my guitar. It's about playing great music and having fun, not about being realistic.
@nkeroulis hey, its a video game. not even picking up a real axe and plugging it in, hell it wont tell u how to play real instruments at all. u play these games just to have fun, make fake music, and stuff.
The setlist is HUGE.
when you include the songs on the PSN/Xbox Marketplace and the ones imported from the previous games
@Cough4Times They havent announced previous keyboard support for sure yet, but they have stated that you CAN play the guitar and bass parts on the keyboard
@ZexionAxzura
You can also use double kick pedal for bass drums and hi-hat (for drum fills). So Rock Band 3 is going to be extra awesome.
@Chefodeath u can still use the older instruments from rb1 rb2, the evolved one is only an option
@pkman947 Keytar is going to be 80 USD, the the guitar that is 100+ buttons will be roughly $150
@BirriaBoy64
You dont have to buy all the istruments.. You can buy them separately!
@NoNameLikeThisOne Then again, Accordian Hero is about to be worked on. Now we can play Polka hits like "Play That Funky Polka Black Boy" and "Shake Shake You Sousaphone."
That setlist that you were standing behind, was that the online setlist?
@ald0sco Did you not watch the video? Looks to me like one of the big selling points of having an entirely fretted controller was so they could teach you the chords and what not. Personally, that sounds like an unnecesary lot of involvement just for a casual game.
and 10 years later.. Guitar Hero and all of this is gone for like 5 years now...
YOUR MOTORIN'!!!! Cant wait for RB3!
When is trumpet hero coming out?
@Virus2020
I don't know...learning music has been a lot of fun for me personally.
I think a lot of people who bash this forget that the makers of Rock Band play real instruments. It's not like they don't know what they're talking about. They designed this game to help players learn real instruments WHILE having fun at the same time. Hence, why they planned this for 2 years.

@Chefodeath yeah i believe you have to go to options menu to switch between those 2
so are all of the songs from rockband 1 and 2 converted to rockband pro?
@thegitt123 You can play the Pro bass CHARTS...but as far as a Pro Bass peripheral...nothing has been said.
This is awesome, have always wanted to play keytar.
@Awesomeaphobic
haaa thats what im going to do too...ive been playing for 10 years, but it will look a lil funny having an 88 key keyboard with a game that can only do two octaves. But it will save me 150 bucks since i already got the keyboard. You will need that madcatz accesory to play. I think its 40 bucks, but it can hook up an electronic drum set too.
My only question is how are you able to hook up a real instrument to play rock band 3?
HOLY COW! :D that is the craziest thing EVER! :D so exciting!! i was thrilled with the keyboard but the GUITAR OMG!
@couchman7787 It's a simulation.... Not a game. It just happens to be released on a game console.
@jimbob7944
All the more reason why I could just get some sort of adapter to hook up a Moog or ARP synthesizer, or even a Rhodes piano, for this game.
@pomssi1 Really? You mean like your own regular guitar? How will that work? If this is true then I duess I will be using my own guitar for Pro Mode as well
Keyboard used to piss me off......Big time!
Whats that song that he's playing around 4:00 ?
lol i love the new guitar looks really fun and will help me play guitar! (wonder if i can play other RBs with it =P)
The real guitar for RB3 has buttons, the one for Power Gig has actual strings. But on the other hand, the one with buttons would make it easier to play lefty.

will these insturments release in europe
UNLIKE ROCKBAND 2 INSTURMENTS
THAT STILL HAS NOT RELEASED
i agree with guy76767 i am a trumpet player and would like to see other instruments come out
@CiseDj "People" play video games because it's a hobby. Just like people who like to watch movies, party, listen to music, etc. Everyone has different preferences.
when it comes it out??
@CiseDj I admit that kids and adults alike can get addicted to video games. Maybe to the point of not doing what's important. @XPetiePieX for that you can just use a midi keyboard
I have an electric baby grand that had MIDI, looks like Ima have to move it in front of the tv now lol
@gearsow12 Well, does Guitar Hero have keyboards?
whats the name of the first music he played?
how much is all of this going to cost
Now that's a set list ^^
if you have a real guitar at home thats a fender can you use it in the game
That is going to be fun to all those musicians like me who can beat the game on the plastic ones already...
I'm getting both! XD
the whole fun of guitar hero is so that you can look at the notes coming down the neck and know what to hit easily, this looks impossible to read if you don't know the song on real guitar
is that sam yang or samsung or...??
can i see the track from pro guitar when i don't have a pro guitar
@nkeroulis Rock Band is just another way to enjoy music.
@JoshEatCake well said, my friend
@EyEPood But that's where everyone is heading. They're trying to make things more realistic. Have you thought of the Eye Toy, Six Axis, PS Move, MS Kinect, even 3D TV supported games. Besides graphics, science fiction games, or zombie games etc.. can't become more real.
MOTORIN! WHAT'S YOUR PRICE FOR FLIGHT!
the keyboard doesn't seem it would work right. Maybe the screen should display it like sheet music.
@lucashp550 being a musician is nothing like being a soldier.
@batmanrox102 :/ so true, In My Life piano solo says Hi!
@gwarriorfromhell I guess its cool. I knew the song, I just couldnt remember the name.
@greenorange75 lol no they have a storyline!
Lets go Jazz Band!
buying it asap
No. A trumpet and a violin will not come out next. Obviously. A Keyboard is a common instrument in a real life Rock Band. It is possible they will come out with a synthesizer however.
@lucashp550

@lucashp550
Your comment makes little sense; I think that playing real instruments is a little more realistic for most people than being in the army.
@lucashp550 but what they are trying to say is that they made the emulation device so real that it is more practical to pick up a guitar and just play that instead.
the ps3 and xbox controllers offer nothing near the real thing of fighting a war; for one, you respawn.
Imagine playing reign of kindo on this
at 4:08 pause and look at the guy and the rock band singer! :)
so Rock Band 4 will be on real instruments, huh?
@woodygk3164 Could be a laggy TV.
im a little skeptical they should have kept it with more of a video game format than a real one
@kevinzki21 Ah, that makes more sense. I guess it is an interesting mechanic then if its optional.
@guy76767 We all know Tuba Hero would own that.
I wonder if it will have Axel F on it
I love the rock band keyboard, but i can comfortably say that "rock band 3 pro mode" doesn't teach you much of anything about the real instrument except MAYBE some finger positions. . . with one hand.
@lucashp550 well fucking said!!so much respect for you right now!!

they better put a-ha's take on me on this game!
1:20 black david letterman on the tv
lmao at 4:50 everyones failing because of the new instruments :D
Hmm...I'm going to buy this game, get my trumpet and french horn friends together, and re-create the song- triage at dawn...because I can honestly say, I can't afford real instruments EXCEPT that real guitar for the game...

@XxIronManxX1 I doubt it
@Randomer876
I never liked the trumpet very much.
violin hero is next...
what the hell? learning? in a video game?
what has the world come too?
this better have Touch Me by the Doors.
0:19 - 0:21 1300 songs??? holy shit.
@nkeroulis hey, its a video game. not even picking up a real axe and plugging it in, hell it wont tell u how to play real instruments at all. u play these games just to have fun, make fake music, and stuff.
@LumpyAdams LOOK WHOS TALKING
i wonder if i can play my les paul on it
omg i cant wait i play keyboard in realife :3 yesss i cant wait my dream came trues
@lucashp550 spoke my mind.
@owned1778 Kool man so do I!!!
